Dutchoma is nearly out of knitting

I have one cardigan to finish and then I am looking for a nice big project, no toys, no charity knitting.
Any takers?

I bought some green yarn a couple of years ago to make myself a cool t-shirt style top. I am nowhere near a good enough knitter to make it. And, with two small children, I don't have the time.

Interested?

(I miss my Dutch Oma. Sad)

Whoever takes Oma up on her offer is in for a treat - she made my DH an amazing Gansey last year. Her knitting is amazing.

What kind of size and what kind of yarn? If you have a picture that would help. Did you start it at all?

Definitely not Blue I did two Peppa Pigs and that has put me off pink toys for quite a while. Apart from the fact that there is a lot of sewing involved with Clangers, so no, much as I love you!

Yes Oma - I think DH's Gansey was the second one you made for a mumsnetter, it is very much loved here. Once the temperature drops it is his favourite garment.

I haven't started it yet. Will get DH to scan in the pattern for me tomorrow.

It's 100% wool (I think), either DK or Aran weight, and would be size 10/12. Will hunt out the wool (and pattern later) to confirm.

Aran is not really suite to short sleeve, summer knitting. How much of it do you have? Would you have enough for a long sleeve jumper. I like both the tops you have sent me, but no, neither would suit Aran weight. 4 ply more likely, which is fine by me. Do you have the patterns for these tops?

Hm. The patterns are both from Autumn/Winter magazines. I think they're supposed to be layered items.

I have the first pattern, and can buy the second.

I've got 5 100g balls of the yarn. They're approx. 170m each.

Just having a look at some of my Rav faves to see if there's anything else you might like, Kiwi, that would keep Oma busy. How about Pumpkin Ale? Wainwright or Royale?

Knitting to stay sane is about it. Some of those tops are done in Aran, so it might work and 500 g is quite a bit.

If you also would consider a smaller knitting project, somewhere along the line, I have a few balls of yarn out of which my Oma started knitting a cardigan for my dd before she was born.

She had dementia and kept on starting again as she made mistakes, used to knit all her life up until then.

The dementia got worse and she passed away 2 years ago sadly.

I have the yarn as was hoping to be able to knit something out of the yarn she started with, for my little girl, but haven't got the skills.

If you would be willing to knit a cardigan out of it I would be very grateful.

You said you are looking for a big project, so no worries if not, but thought it wouldn't hurt to ask Smile

I don't have the pattern she used, and doubt there is enough yarn as my daughter is now 4, but would of course be happy to find a pattern of a similar one, and more yarn

Dear SpaceKoala, It would be a total honour to finish your Oma's cardigan for you. I will send you my address, can I just ask you to send the whole lot to me and I'll see what I can do? I would like the chest measurement of your daughter and some idea of what you/she would like, I would be so pleased to finish that for you. Depending on how much your Oma has done, I would probably 'frog' (rippit, rippit) it and start over, but I will need to see how far it has got, if that's ok. Alternatively, if you would prefer to keep what your Oma has done, I can start where she finished, but you will most likely see the difference.

Love the first pattern GrouchyKiwi linked to but I can't tell what weight of wool I would need for 3.75 needles. Can anyone advise?

I am quite confuddled about this pattern. It has a tension of 22stsx4" on 3.75 needles in Zitron Noblesse, but if you run that up on Ravelry it has a tension of 28sts on 3.50mm.
What tension does your ball band give Grouchy?

Dutchoma My yarn says it's 17-19stx4" on 4.5 - 5mm needles. I should point out that I didn't buy the yarn specifically for the pattern, just because I loved the colour. Thought I might be able to use it but can see that's not the case.

For the second pattern I like (www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/briar-rose-tunic) Ravelry suggests a wool worsted so I think my yarn should be ok?
