I have one cardigan to finish and then I am looking for a nice big project, no toys, no charity knitting.
Any takers?

Yes, you are right, Grouchy your wool is not suitable for the Slanting Gretel, but will do very nicely for the Rose Briar.
Be careful Fructose with that pattern and the yarn, it can be quite deceptive. It is a merino wool/silk yarn, so probably quite smooth and so the cable will show up nicely in a fairly tight weave.
My ganseys are 5 - ply, 28 sts x 4" and are done on 2.5 mm throughout. Windproof, waterproof and the cables show up fine. Uses a fair amount of wool though and is very heavy. Have a look on my profile if you like.

Looks like you have enough yarn for a smaller size tunic. I love both patterns.
If it is alright with you I will do SpaceKoala's project first, as that is the smaller one. Yours is just the large project I like, but it will need some time.

if you fancy a long term project then i can recommend the the beekeepers quilt

i do hexipuffs between projects or if i am bored with whatever i am working on.

i could pm you the basic hexipuff pattern if you don't fancy paying $7 for what is basically a 3D hexagon.

Its not a long term boring pattern I want, but an interesting one that I can please someone with, but thanks all the same for the offer of the pattern Sancho

Sounds perfect, thank you so much! I'll download the pattern.

Is it worth trying to get another ball of yarn to make sure there's enough? They've discontinued the yarn (of course) but I can see if there's a substitute. I'm quite happy to lose an inch of length in the tunic, though.

Dutchoma · 21/08/2015 11:46

Because of the type of tunic it is you really need the wool to be all of the same dye number, so no substitution. An inch off the length is a better plan. I'm wondering how you will get he pattern to me. Will you print it out and send it in the parcel?

With my address I will also send an email address, just in case you cannot print and I will print it out myself.

Yes, I can print it and put it in with the yarn. Can also email it if you want colour pictures to look at?

I think I'd prefer to lose an inch off the length anyway. There are instructions with the pattern for making it shorter.
