Glasgow Woolly Huggers - who's up for a meet-up?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 06/01/2013 12:31

It's a while since we met up for cake and gossip and coffee and more cake knitting, so it would be nice to have a meet up soon, I think.

The days that seem to work best for people are either Mondays at the Burrell Collection or Wednesdays at the Tramway - so if anyone has any preferences, speak now and we will try to fit in round them.

We are a very friendly group, and it will be lovely to see new faces as well as the old ones, so if you are in the Glasgow area, like knitting and/or crochet, and enjoy blether, coffee and cake - please do come along and join us, when we have set a date, of course.

Mondays or Fridays for me (boo for work)

I might have to pass on cake for some celery as the diet kicks in. But will be there with bells on if I can make it!

prettybird · 06/01/2013 15:14

I'm up for a meeting any time. Will have to forego the cake though as I'm on BIWI's BootCamp from tomorrow stuffs face with lovely moist home made Christmas cake in the mean time Grin

HairyPotter · 06/01/2013 17:41

RatherBeOnThePiste · 06/01/2013 20:28

GlaikitFizzog · 06/01/2013 20:57

Blether = chat so yes correct use of the word pistey!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 06/01/2013 21:07

One day I shall come and blether Wine

HairyPotter · 06/01/2013 21:26

You and knotty could be there in spirit! We could skype! I will take cake of your cake for you.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 06/01/2013 22:16

Just let me know when, Pistey, and you can come and stay here. Knotty too.

I already owe Pistey a bed for a few nights. We can fight over her Wink

Any closer on setting a date? Looks like Monday is the best bet. How about a week on Monday (21st)?

It would be good to catch up.

GlaikitFizzog · 10/01/2013 15:27

21st works for me!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 10/01/2013 15:38

21st would work for me too - at the Burrell?

OP posts:
prettybird · 10/01/2013 15:47

Burrell was fine last time Smile Wonder if I'll be able to get a low-carb lunch there but I could always bring a packed lunch that meets Boot Camp "rules" Grin

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 10/01/2013 15:54

They have a selection of salads, prettybird.

Does 11am suit people?

OP posts:
GlaikitFizzog · 10/01/2013 16:00

Yep fine with me! The did have a large selection of salad stuff, but I didn't pay much attention to it! Are there carbs in cake???

biff23 · 10/01/2013 16:04

I have just started crocheting, would that qualify me for meet up even though I'm very much a novice? One of my new year's resolutions is to meet new people and socialise more so I'd love to join you all if that's okay? Date and time suit perfectly Smile .

GlaikitFizzog · 10/01/2013 16:07

Of course biff! I only started knitting in February, so I'm very much still a novice too. Don't ask me abut crochet though, pretty and SDTG can whip you into shape though! :)

biff23 · 10/01/2013 16:23

Excellent, thanks. I only started around October so really am a beginner.

prettybird · 10/01/2013 16:38

I still can't crochet as I need a left-hander to teach me although Pistey keeps on giving my links to left-handed crochet tutorials

We call this Scottish Woolly Hugs meet-ups - but we tend to natter and eat cake more than we actually knit or crochet! Blush

I did teach HairyPotter how to do cable though [proud]

GlaikitFizzog · 10/01/2013 16:48

Oh yes it was cabling y taught hairy! Not witchcraft crochet!!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 10/01/2013 17:01

It will be lovely to see you, Biff. I will probably be crocheting white granny squares for an Angel Hug - I can do a basic pattern, but I might strike out and try a slightly harder one - though the snowflakes I tried to crochet on Monday were not a huge success. Blush

Daft question, I know, but do we bring our crochet/k sitting etc with us and is this how I will recognise you all a la red rose in lapel Smile .

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 10/01/2013 18:56

Yes to both questions, Biff. I will try to get there a bit early and bag a table with comfy chairs, and I will probably have my huge knitting bag with me (it's easier just to pick it up, lock, stock and barrel, than to try to decide what I don't need).

I will look forward to seeing you there!Smile

Yes to show off I usually don't get much done because I'm running after ds!
