What would your ideal craft storage be - I have an opportunity to choose <squeee!>

Dh is giving up some of his office (he works from home a couple of days a week) for me to have some storage for my craft stuff - fabric/wool/felts/beading/sewing basket etc! The width of the space is approx 1 metre and the depth is 50cm, height wise the ceiling is the limit!
I'm so excited to finally have my own space, at the moment my craft stuff is in boxes/bags/baskets all over the house driving me mad and making a mess!
So, any suggestions as to what I could get? Budget is probably £200 ish but less would be better ....but if there was something ideal I might be able to eBay a few bits to make up the difference Wink

Ah, my friend has that in her house. It is the sort of thing I am looking for. If I could be really choosy I would probably have a couple of wider shelves as I already have a few boxes that things are in - having said that it would look much neater decanted into one unit. Oh, decisions, decisions!!

A dresser!!! Off eBay!!! £200 could get you a corker Envy I have a little one and had a lovely time arranging my bits (as it were). It's got all my yarn in the drawers and knitting needles and jars of buttons etc on shelves. I love it!

OOOOh, stitchthis, I like that idea (although I have a feeling dh may feel it is a bit 'girly' in his office Hmm) Still I may be able to wear him down persuade him. I'm off to look on ebay

I have seen bespoke cabinets at craft shows. They are luverly. Loads of little drawers and shelves and a table and then you can shut it up when you are finished.

I want one soooo badly.

But a dresser sounds even nicer.

Stitchthis - I might jut do that, cos depending on the dimensions, the alcove in my kitchen would be the perfect place to house this. Hubby would kill me though cos we are supposed to be saving money :(

Lucky you!! Ive just bought some old post office sorting racks from an auction, but there are some on ebay just now.... Like wooden pigeon holes, ideal for felt and wool and fat quarters of fabric. My friend has some that she painted white, and they look amazing! I also got an old school cabinet with shelves which has glass doors, which keeps the moths out! Have fun choosing and sorting your stuff.... its lovely to have it all organized!

the thing I REALLY wanted but DH drew the not more vintage tat please God line was one of these - i have a friend with one she got for free when someone was throwing out stuff - oh, they're lovely.

green you condense a link by adding a space after the address and then typing what you want to show up then close the ]] if that makes sense Confused

Thanks for that!! I also love the fifties kitchen units.... my DP wont have them in the house. no taste. (I wish hed just leave matters of taste to me.... when I first knew him he had a stick on border around the wallpaper in his lounge FGS).

greengoose- i should hide myself in shame, i had a stick on border in my old bedroom when I lived with my parent Blush

thses are all great finds - we are never that lucky on ebay and are always outbidded or what we buy turns out to be tat (or stinky)

I have a computer cupboard from Ikea. The keyboard draw pulls out and you can stick your machine on it. I have a photo which I'll post when I get on the computer.

Im sure sticky borders are very nice in the right setting and.....emmmm..... light (fumbles for non-insulting interior decorating comments). My inlaws still have them, and they are very happy with them.....
When I work out how to post photo... and clear off my crafting desk... Ill take one. Ive just started seriously doing craft fairs and selling this year, so Ive taken over our spare room. Its great to have the space. Ive also just bought a vintage Pfaff industrial sewing machine, which I love more than many of my cousins.
