Hi me and a friend did our card stall at the school the other night. It was great fun to do and we had a glass of wine and didn't stop talking to people all night.I sold 15 cards at 1.50 each and all my packs of tags at £1 a pack. Not bad for 2 hours.I would definately do it again. We had loads of lovely compliments. Her cards were very different to mine very funky and modern with gorgeous embellishments on.Her alphabet beaded ones went down a storm.makes mental note on that for next timeNever done any of those before. She sold about 10 more cards than me but hey who's bitter? She was so apologetic it made me laugh bless her.I was just so pleased people liked mine enough to buy them. Can't wait to do another one now.Whizz you're next.Bet you really enjoy it.

LONG REPORT ABOUT MY CRAFT FAIR!!!!

Well I went and coughed and spluttered my way through the afternoon and evening. It was really busy despite the awful weather. I sold lots of jewellery, nearly all of the little candy houses I bought from Skribble, sold out of the chocolate santas on a stick...kids were buying 5 at a time!!!...I almost wanted to say "computer says No" to the greedy little tikes

The craft packs went down well and I sold a fair few of them...all I did was put 6 card blanks and envelopes in a A5 poly bag with some holographic card and some wooden snowmen, reindeers etc..sold them for £2.50 a bag and the mums were buying them for their kids

I made up some cellophane bags with 2 small candy canes, 2 tree chocolates and 2 choccie pennies...added the snowmen that you gave me skribble(thanks) bit of ribbon tied around the top and sold them for 80p....sold out within 30 mins!!!

Sold out of the Reindeer food stockings and charged £4 for them ...loads of yummy mummies standing there saying "oh ahhh...I must have one of those" Once one bought they all "just had to have one"

I bought some cinnamon sticks from the cheapy spice shop in town...soaked some extra cinammon oil into them and then tied red/green ribbon around them...looked and smelled lovely....cost 21p each to make and sold them for £1.50 each!!!!

Now for the real cheeky confession....

I bought some gingham decorations from B&Q and a few other felt decorations....you know the type...cutsie santas and angels with woolly hair....bought them with a 20% off voucher I had and went when it was a 10% off night....B&Q combined both discounts so I paid around £1.00 for the smaller pieces and £3.00 for the larger....sold the smaller ones for £5 and the larger for £9!!!! Suckers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I sold out of all the B&Q stock!!! I sat for one day and just added a few buttons here and there to the stock to make it look a bit different....cant believe I pulled it off and have a list of orders for some more B&Q bits...PMSL!!!!!

Cards....sold 15!!!...people picked them up...said how nice they were...asked the price £1.25 - £2 and then put them down and walked away????????? All that hard bloomin work to make loads of stock and I only go and sell 15!!!So glad that I had all the other stuff to sell or else I would have been at a loss.

My mate kept joking saying I should have put a sign up saying "Award Winning Designs"...PMSL...then the Yummies would "just have to have them".

As much as I love card making I am getting the feeling that Christmas isnt such the great time for us card makers that it should be....so many cards to buy that people are only gonna spend the extra pennies on "special" cards...Mom, dad, brother, sister etc....I probably wont bother again next year making up so many and will focus on getting more crafty christmas goodies and decorations.

Apart from feeling really poo with my cold I had a good laugh with my mate and enjoyed myself...learnt loads about Joe Public and learnt some really good lessons for the future.

Im off to B&Q later on today ready for the fair tomorrow

at the B&Q bits !! When I did my fair I sold quite a few of the cards with the wooden glittery trees on so thanks for the tip JM.
I hate people who coo over the cards, pick up lots, put them down & then walk off. I think some expect to pay 50p for a card thats really detailed ! Grr
When's the next one ?

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 03/12/2005 09:47

Yes, the problem with Christmas is that packs of cards are so cheap - you send so many that a bulk box is the only way to go. I would only spend a lot on a special card.

Skribble · 03/12/2005 23:35

At my fair today I took.......

£13.90
-£10 for the pitch
= £3.90
