Hi me and a friend did our card stall at the school the other night. It was great fun to do and we had a glass of wine and didn't stop talking to people all night.I sold 15 cards at 1.50 each and all my packs of tags at £1 a pack. Not bad for 2 hours.I would definately do it again. We had loads of lovely compliments. Her cards were very different to mine very funky and modern with gorgeous embellishments on.Her alphabet beaded ones went down a storm.makes mental note on that for next timeNever done any of those before. She sold about 10 more cards than me but hey who's bitter? She was so apologetic it made me laugh bless her.I was just so pleased people liked mine enough to buy them. Can't wait to do another one now.Whizz you're next.Bet you really enjoy it.

cause as you know you can only spend half the rest has to go on craft thing, terrible I know.

UCM · 20/11/2005 22:16

I was supposed to do a table sale today and didn't. I didn't have enough cards. About 35. I have been feeling terrible all day. Was so unprepared about so many things.

Being asked have you go this with 'Dad' on....

Are the cards for sale or do you have to order about 10 times. (This worried me as imagine the people who didn't bother.)

Was v. happy but v. tearful last night as this school really hit home that I have a very lovely 2 year old boy whom I have not paid much attention to recently.

I am sooo lucky that my little boy doesn't have to attend this school. It was a lovely school and the facilities there are fabulous. If Ds was special needs then I couldn't think of a better place for him.

Still sad though. For me anyway.

UCM · 20/11/2005 22:20

Oh BTW, thank you all so much for your support. I couldn't have done it if I didn't have you lot to report back to.

Whizzz · 20/11/2005 22:20

Don't get down - people always want what you don't have & you can't have everything.

Skribble · 20/11/2005 22:24

It takes a while to get into the swing of things. I am still totally stressed and I don't have the added stress of making things.

Perhaps print up a sign explaining they can buy now or ordre if you don't have exactly what you want. Your right many people won't bother to ask and walk away. I would always be upfront with prices too as many won't ask this either.

Got anymore lined up?

UCM · 20/11/2005 22:27

Yes, I have an arts & crafts evening at a local school.

Other than that I am going to try to be ready for the next table sale.

Trying like mad to avoid scone eaters. Thanks girls. I needed that.

Skribble · 20/11/2005 22:29

There was a huge fair this weekend but I learned 2 years a go that it is full od scone people who oh and ah then walk away while you call after them " Well if you like them that much bl*ody buy one"

UCM · 20/11/2005 22:32

Skribble · 20/11/2005 22:52

UCM · 20/11/2005 23:39

Whizzz · 22/11/2005 19:16

Ok who else has a stall this weekend ?
I have my first ever school fayre - any tips ?

jayzmummy · 22/11/2005 19:22

me...Friday and Saturday.
Ive been making cards like mad...got loads of jewellery ready and Ive painted some branches gold and covered the tubs in gingham check...will hang the reindeer food stockings off them. I bought some sweets from skribble to try and encourage the kids to come over to buy sweets and drag their mums with them to have a look at my goodies. I bought some chocolate santas on sticks from Lidls and a couple of their baskets so the sweets look pretty cool when in the baskets. Ive got some craft bags made up and some scrapbooking packs...so hopefully I will have a good weekend.
Good luck to everyone else.

jayzmummy · 22/11/2005 19:22

Whizz im going to hang my jewellery off the branches I made too...would that work for you???

Whizzz · 22/11/2005 19:27

Yes I thought of something like that - I just need to check how much room I've got. I've also made elasticated bracelets from plastic beads that should appeal to little girls - 10p each.

And I need to rustle up some gift tags tomorrow (taken a days hol from work to make cards )

kiwibelle · 22/11/2005 20:53

have loads of fun ladies... Whizz - a wee smile crept over when I read you were taking a day off for preparations. That's commitment

kiwibelle · 22/11/2005 20:53

.... and I hope you sell out and take a gazillion orders for more cards.

Whizzz · 22/11/2005 20:53

Yes, it's all about priorities !

Skribble · 22/11/2005 21:52

Jayzmummy the chocolate santa lollies sell really well as do candy canes, I buy packs of 12 and split them.

jayzmummy · 22/11/2005 22:47

Thanks Skribble.....nice to know that something might sell
I was thinking of making up some bags with candy canes, chocolate lollies and some sweets...anything to get the little blighters over to my stall and drag their mums with em!

Skribble · 23/11/2005 13:55

I have done mixed bags as well and i think they sold quite well. I got little cellophane bags and tied with sparkly green and red ribbon.

The canes do so well that I had to send my BIL round to poundstretchers to get a few boxes at one of the sales I did . I wish i had kept better records of what i sold as now i haven't a scooby how many i actually sold.

Whizzz · 23/11/2005 14:13

I've just put some tags in the Xmas Card gallery - see 'Discount for MN' thread !

Trying to decide how to price them - all opinions welcome

Whizzz · 23/11/2005 16:01

Anyone ?
I am surrounded by shiny card & sequins !

Dingle · 23/11/2005 16:06

Sorry Whizzz, I haven't ever made tag to sell...it's always on my to do list and never gets done.I've never been that organisedThey look good though!

Whizzz · 23/11/2005 16:15

thanks Dingle - Glad somoeone likes them, I have made 50 of various designs today !!!!

Dingle · 23/11/2005 16:26

Well done whizz, I have achieved nothing today...DD off of nursery with a rotten cold and a bit of a temperature. I'll have to lock myself out in the conservatory as soon as DH gets home...I think I'll take a bottle of wine out there with me...it's been one of those days!

I get so angry with myself...I have all these ideas and never find the time to actually do anything about them. I should be on here searching for ideas for a mask I have to make DS for hios assembly on Friday, have printed a few pictures off and just about to sit up at the table and draw some of my own ideas. (he is the big bad wolf!)
