Hi I an looking for anyone who has been in a similar situation. I had my scan last week I was 13+3. I had a NT fold of 4.1mm and I have a 1 in 5 chance of baby having downs. I had a harmony test today and i am terrified.

Hi I'm 15 weeks and going for amniocentesis tomorrow I was given a 1/9 chance of downs my nt was 5.4 mm xx

MrsP2015 · 25/08/2020 22:43

I'm not pregnant but when my dd was born I was told she may have ds and she was tested for it- took 2-3 weeks for the results. Agonising just not knowing even though my scan tests & bloods all gave a very low possibility it was so scary, not having the chance to research/ prepare.
She hasn't got it.

I think you're right to find out now.

If you are both a bit older it can increase your chances as far as I know.

Ha e either of you got ds in your family?

jmm499 · 25/08/2020 22:50

Hi @Scottishgirl89 sorry you’re having such a worrying time, I have been there too. I had a ‘greater than 1 in 4 chance’ of my baby having DS following a raised NT of 4.7mm at 12 weeks. I subsequently had a low risk Harmony test and then a clear amnio at 16 weeks (we decided to look at all chromosomes given the increased NT). We also had a cardiac echo done at 20 weeks which was ‘normal’. Our baby boy arrived safe and well at the beginning of July.

I’m wishing you all the best for the Harmony results - it’s such a stressful time but hang in there and take each day at a time. I’m thinking of you xxx

Hi everyone thanks for your replies. I am 31 and my partner is 32. There is no history in the family of downs. I am convinced it will be bad news where my partner is looking at the 80% chance it's good. Just want the results to hurry up.

My NIPT came back with a high chance of DS which further tests show he had. It is the kind of news that is a huge shock at first, and feelings of grief and devastation are normal immediate reactions. With time, and do allow yourself plenty of time to process and research, it feels OK. And you love your child. Research generally shows a positive impact on life and siblings. It's a roller coaster of emotions and I'm so glad I educated myself, which only time can do, so I was able to consider all perspectives and come to a decision without regrets.

Hang in there. It's totally natural to think the worst and nothing anyone can say will reverse that. I spent 20 weeks planning for a baby with downs (abnormality picked up at 20 week scan which either meant nothing or meant a chromosomal abnormality.) This time made me stronger than I have ever been. Positive and determined to make it ok. He was born with nothing wrong.

I think believing the worst gives you the strength to deal with the worst. But I have everything crossed for you that this isn't the case for you and you just come out stronger.

MrsKate · 28/08/2020 17:35

Just had results no chromosome deformity found so all good I’m so happy 😀 Found out its a girl so I will have 2 boys and 2 girls xxx

Straysocks · 28/08/2020 17:45

The Downs Syndrome Association produced a pack for parents, largely written by parents who were in exactly your situation. Think you can find it on their website, their helpline is really good too. Congratulations!

Scottishgirl89 · 28/08/2020 18:03

Ah Congratulations. I still havent heard anything. Had the harmony on Tuesday so had hoped I would have heard today. Consultant said she would ring as she soon as she knew.

MrsKate · 29/08/2020 13:21

I'm over the moon just need to get my 20 week scan out of way to rule anything out xx

Scottishgirl89 · 29/08/2020 14:06

Mine must be my bloods as NT wasnt to high but I have never been told what my bloods are. I'm only 31 & weigh 8 stone 8 so cant be because of weight or age.

MrsP2015 · 29/08/2020 21:28

@Scottishgirl89 I really think your baby will not have any abnormalities and what you said confirms my thoughts.

Keep us updated.

Aew2020 · 02/09/2020 19:46

@Scottishgirl89 how are you? I hope you're results came back ok? I'm currently 14 weeks pregnant, 28 years old, first baby. Midwife called me today to say baby has 1 in 63 chance of having DS which they consider high. I'm going for a NIPT on Friday. Feels so overwhelming and surreal at the moment. Praying for a positive result. I have no idea of the details of my blood results and midwife said she didn't have that information so I have a list of questions prepared for my appointment on Friday.

Scottishgirl89 · 02/09/2020 19:58

Hello thanks for your message. Mine came back today as now 1 in 10,000 so slow risk also found out having a girl :). I'm thinking of you as I know how terrifying it is. U having the blood test??

So happy for you both xx

MrsP2015 · 09/09/2020 19:46

@Scottishgirl89 that's great to hear!

@Sussexbysea is the NIPT/ Harmony the same thing? Privately paid for blood test?
Fingers crossed for you.
