Terrible. I hate dogs.

Really sad story isn’t it. Not sure how a hate of dogs is helpful though.

In a previous comment she said she thinks people like dogs because of the media brainwashing.
Nothing to do with the fact that the relationship with dog and humans can be dated back over 30,000 years...wolves and humans learnt to coexist and benefit from each other in many ways for a lot longer than the media has been around.

She posts on all dog threads, and insists liking dogs is a form of mental illness.

Yes. Using dogs to help. Now we mollycoddle them and treat them like gods. Insane.

@Wishihadanalgorithm you've kind of contradicted yourself there by saying your a dog lover. Aren't dog lovers a lover of all dogs?

To those saying drug dealers and scum own this breed of dog your wrong. I know a lady that breeds pocket bully's and she posted a picture on insta of a lady who had purchased a pup and i even commented that I bet she was shocked when approached by the buyer. She was in 50s and quite posh from Warwick.
The dog trainer I know trains an xl and the owner is a single lady in her 40s who's a lawyer.

Some people just like big/giant breeds and some like toy breeds everyone's different I suppose.

I think it's more making a point of, the dogs that attack are normally owned by these types of people, rather than they are the only type of people who own them.
I absolutely love large powerful breeds, I own a German shepherd. Quite honestly in all the years I've had my boy, he's only ever been attacked by small/medium dogs. Greyhounds, spaniels and pugs being the worst of them! The large powerful breeds have never been a problem because usually they're well trained and the owners appreciate their power as opposed to small dog owners who's mentality is that it's small so it can't do much damage. 🙄

What is the breed is it one of those nasty Staffies that oddly all the chavs seem to choose to have for some definitely not threatening reason

AlwaysGinPlease · 09/04/2023 21:12

@TropicalTheIslandBreeze and we all knew YOU would be along. You don't care about the child on the thread . You are using this as a platform to spit your usual poison about dogs. So predictable

I think there are some breeds that simply should not be allowed as domestic pets. A dog breed that was bred to defend livestock etc is going to be a powerful and potentially aggressive dog.
I know all dogs have the ability to be aggressive with poor training and a bad owner but the people who have these dogs want them for status and the fact they look threatening.
There is simply no need for these types of dogs in your average home and banning them would go a long way to improving the situation. I have had a dog in the past, a placid Labrador before I get accused of being anti dog.

Well I have a German Shepherd, need to herd cattle. I have always wanted a GSD, from when I was a child because the ones in my family were wonderful. They are intelligent, driven, they're loyal to a fault and would genuinely put themselves in danger for you (mine put himself in front of my children when a dog came barking at them)
I absolutely do not care for status of how I am perceived by people for owning such a breed. Quite frankly I don't care, they're a wonderful breed.
Also collies are bred for herding sheep but I have a feeling they don't fit your criteria, just because an animal is bred for herding does not make it aggressive. It just means they have certain traits that need to be recognised, mostly that they are working line and need the appropriate experience and training and mental stimulation in order to meet their needs.

SherbertDabs · 09/04/2023 21:15

Pick a random kid and spend thousands on it? What if he turned out to be an abuser, a rapist or a murderer? Should probably put it down, just in case.

Prove me wrong. Am waiting for you to tell me my mind is being taken over by some hormone my dog releases.

All you do is post on dog threads about how bad dog owners are for wanting an animal companion. And that how much you hate dogs, and that you are convinced half of people agree with you.

There are real people behind all the posts on MN... and some of us "vile dog owners" find our doggy companions a great comfort and welcome addition to our lives. If you find us gross, then keep it to yourself. You are just hiding behind a keyboard. I bet a months worth of dog food that you would never go up to a random dog owner and tell them how disgusting and delusional you think they are.

AlwaysGinPlease · 09/04/2023 21:19

@XenoBitch very well said. I too guarantee that they wouldn't say it in real life. Too much of a coward.

Did you get bitten as a kid or something?

Seriously? Let me guess. Something to do with the serotonin? 🙄

Mrsfussypants1 · 09/04/2023 21:30

Tougher sentencing for the owners of these dogs if they attack a human or another dog for that matter. As a parent and grandparent I don't think it wise to either enter a house that has one of these types of dogs in or allow one in our homes. Granddaughter has been taught from toddling not to approach any dog when out and about. Even with the cockapoos and shitzus in the family she's been taught how to behave around then. My mums docile shitzu who is so placid but getting on and senile so even though she's never shown any aggression we give her her space and don't do things like go up and kiss her on her head when she's sleeping etc. It's not raising a dog fearing child, more making kids aware too.

AgapanthusandAcers · 09/04/2023 21:31

@ElmTree22
Sorry I should have made it clear, I was not talking about GSD and they didn't cross my mind as I those aren't the sort of dogs I was thinking of, many apologies. I was referring to some of the Eurasian breeds that are making their way into the cross breeding market to create bully crosses. Apologies to GSD and collie owners, you were not the sort of owners I was referring to. I know lots of those in real life and those are great as they are well trained and well looked after as they are bought for the right reasons.

SheikYerboutiii · 09/04/2023 21:31

You don't hear about people being mauled to death by a Yorkshire Terrier or a Chihuahua.
No, but this child wasn’t mauled to death and a small dog could easily inflict these kind of injuries, so when all the big bad dogs are banned should we move onto the orrible little cunt dogs that snap and snarl at anything that moves? Or do we target owners who are useless and treat their dogs like shit big or small?

missmollygreen · 09/04/2023 21:34

Goldenbear · 09/04/2023 17:26

What kind of dog is that, looks scary.

really?

WindyWends · 09/04/2023 21:37

LlynTegid · 09/04/2023 17:25

The law should be such that if a dog harms someone such that they need hospital treatment, the owner faces the same criminal charge as if they had inflicted the injury (or worse) personally themselves.

If your dog were to kill someone, you face a charge of manslaughter.

I agree.

Of course I care about the child.

I also don't like dogs. I can do both.

Not this child, fortunately.

Others have been.

And whatever you think about the small breeds, they're not strong enough to overpower and kill someone.

The thing is, all these owners that come piling out, not my dog, mines well trained, it's this, it's that, it's the other, well it's someone's dog isn't it.

I don't think people should have the right to own the type of dogs that can cause this level of harm / kill someone.

I would absolutely get behind a campaign to get breeds such as x bully on to the banned dog list.

Enough is enough.

Keep your dogs to yourself, then I'll keep my opinions to myself.
As it is, I have to regularly contend with dog shit on my kids' and my shoes/wheels, deal with dogs jumping on us, knocking my young kids over, grabbing food out of their hands, trying to sniff/lick them.

My opinions are not more bothersome than dogs.

I do think those so emotionally dependent on dogs ought to get some professional help. It's really not healthy.

No. I don't go up to random dog owners and say anything. I avoid dog people as much as possible. But if I'm in a discussion about dogs, I do voice my opinion.

ElmTree22 · 09/04/2023 21:58

@Jonei
While I don't completely disagree with you. Banning specific breeds is a difficult task, because pit bulls are banned in the uk. Yet people still own them. And when you say breeds such as XL bully's which ones do you mean? Just all big powerful breeds because I think it's pretty known that GSDs, Rottweilers, dobermans etc can be wonderful dogs.
Statically speaking XL bully's aren't in the top 5 list for dog bites in the uk. And in fact Jack Russells are number one on that list, so do we ban them too? The media is very manipulative when it comes to dog attacks, I'm not saying that these dogs haven't done these attacks I'm just saying they're a lot more publicised than the average Labrador.

Coming onto MN is not really much different though. On another thread, OP was saying she sees a lot of dogs on holiday. You come on and say you hate dogs and hate their owners too.
You are just using MN as a platform for your own warped views. I just hope you never need a dog to sniff you out if trapped under a building... or to hunt for a missing loved one.

WeWereInParis · 09/04/2023 22:02

Do you know where they sit if you account for how many of them there are? I'd expect there to be more bites from labradors than a rarer dog.

I guess finding out the number of XL bullies would be quite hard though.
