probably be flamed for this. But I know a couple who have two small young children under 3 and are trying for another even though neither have managed to find employment in the last few years. I would love to have another child but even with a dh in a job we couldnt afford it just doesnt seem fair.Im not saying that people on benefits shouldnt have children as each cicircumstance is different etc.But surely with a couple who can both work and aren't exactly childless there should be mor responsible. I feel really angry tbh that we can'y afford to have a child and wouldn't dream of it in their situation

No she shouldn' be having any more kids. I certainly dont want to pay for it. Unfortunatly, we dont have a say in how our taxes are spent.

Would love to know how many of these people would carry on having kids if the ludicrous buffer of the welfare state wasn't there to encourage them.
I suspect the rates of teenage pregnancies for one would plummet.

My sister is in her thirties and is considering having another baby with her boyfriend of seven months. She reckons she'll be given £10 child benefit and £45 tax credit per week. Because she is a "lone parent"

No baby costs £55 a week even if you have to buy formula and that's still subsidised in voucher form isn't it?

I told her that the £500 sure start grant and the pregnancy £190 have gone or are going but she can manage without them apparently. She already has a boy and a girl and has saved everything.

Theoretically she could afford a new baby every year or so unlike working people.

well i am unemployed. been in UK since last years november. haven't found a job (due to health issues like weak knees, allergies etc), and trying to concieve (or maybe i am preggo alredy:D). anyway OH works full time, never enough money, BUT still hopeful and trying. I am not eligeble (did i spell that right?) to any of those benefits or supports or anything, since i haven't worked here. So i am brave to think that we can do this. And well hopefully we can we'll manage, i know we will. we always have (PS! this is my first child, if it's gonna happen)
