My DD who is 14mo was born at 27 weeks. She is 11mo corrected age, still very tiny at just over 16lb and wearing 3-6 month clothes. She's already had to go through so much and play catch up with her peers in so many ways, was late rolling, sitting, etc even for her corrected age.

Today she's started commando crawling - it's slow and laborious at the moment but she's moving forwards!

I want to celebrate!!!

What has made your day recently? Let's have a celebration thread!

YANBU

Well done your DD!

Today I am happy that we've spent a lovely day picnicking in the woods by a lovely brook with friends and their children - all home educated. These are the days that make me so happy they didn't have to spend the day in school. I am full of happiness right this minute

Angelcat666 · 30/06/2010 17:26

Brilliant news re your dd

My dd has just completed her GCSEs and had her prom the other night. She looked beautiful even if I do say so myself and yes, I'm biased

Galena · 30/06/2010 17:27

Oh interesting - how does corrected age work? I take it she's been out the womb more than 11 months or is 11 months how long she's been out the womb?

Clever girl!

You must be pleased, she sounds very sweet I just love baby girls!!!

SloanyPony · 30/06/2010 17:32

Oh sorry just read the OP again now understand corrected age

duh sorry (wine)!

TenaciousMe · 30/06/2010 17:32

Congratulations Galena's dd!

My celebration is that my best friend in the world gave birth to a beautiful little girl today. She was 29 weeks so any words of positive encouragement i can pass on would be most appreciated! :-)

LostArtofKeepingASecret · 30/06/2010 17:32

Well done mini Galena. commando crawling is sweet, isn't it?

I'm happy that DD finally told me what is going on at school, I went to see the teacher on Friday and by Monday everything was sorted (fingers crossed). DD is the happiest she has been in months!

piprabbit · 30/06/2010 17:34

Congratulations baby Galena.
My DS (2yo) decided to wee in his potty for the first time every last night. DH turned round to find a small yellow puddle in the bottom of the potty - quite surprised him....

weegiemum · 30/06/2010 17:35

Well done mini Galena! I remember my ds commando crawling - teeth, toes and elbows being his favoured means of movement!

Today I am very proud of my dd1 who had her ears pierced! I can't believe she is so old! (10) She looks fantabulous! So grown up, and gorgeous!

Galena · 30/06/2010 17:37

Lots to celebrate!

(TenaciousMe, tell her life in SCBU is a rollercoaster - there will be good and bad days, but try to focus on the good - and try to find positive notes every day. Also suggest she keeps a diary of what happens and her feelings. Also, tell mutual friends to acknowledge the birth and visit, etc. I hated that people didn't acknowledge the birth in case things went wrong. If you/she want to email me about anything, it's r.e.swinton AT googlemail DOT com Where is she?)

Congratulations Galena!
I've just been stopped 4 times in the supermarket by random strangers wanting to coo over my 8mo ds and tell me how lovely he is. Sometimes people are so lovely

peeringintothevoid · 30/06/2010 17:40

Congratulations to you and your dd!

lazarusb · 30/06/2010 17:40

That's fantastic- these milestones are what being a parent is all about. Aren't parents the luckiest people on earth? Dh and I had a lovely spontaneous picnic today on a cliff overlooking the English Channel.

cory · 30/06/2010 17:47

Congratulations to Galenadd! That is splendid news!

My celebration is that ds brought home his school report from Yr 5. He has exceeded expectation in both reading and science despite having had an absolutely crap year with only 72% attendance due to a painful disability which was diagnosed about this time last year. And as the report amply shows ("helpful, considerate, mature, friendly, polite"), at no time, not once, has he shown any bitterness or taken his disappointment out on anyone.

(at no point did the report mention that his disability actually affects his ability to deal with school subjects or that you might expect a small boy to be affected by such an upheaval in his life- but that doesn't surprise me, I know the school)

But I am soo proud of ds! If the school doesn't understand what this has cost him, I do. School work has never come easy to him, now he has also had a lot of his physical ability taken away from him- and he is still ploughing on.

Blu · 30/06/2010 17:56

Oh, that's LOVELY!
Well done BabyG

diddl · 30/06/2010 17:59

Congratulations to baby!

Mine was a year before he could sit unaided-it´s great having them babies for so long though

Galena · 30/06/2010 20:15

Thanks guys - although it's just taken an hour to get her to sleep... NOT funny!

Ahhh, this is making me smile. My dd played with another child for the 1st time today (they passed her rattly leaves back and forward between the prams). I'm hoping it's the start of a beautiful friendship.
