secunda · 24/06/2010 16:46

YANBU I do it to DP. not the bogeys or earwax though

ByTheSea · 24/06/2010 16:47

I'm awful that way too. Unfortunately, the as they get older, it starts to annoy them.

diamondsandtiaras · 24/06/2010 16:49

and the bits off fluff that get in between the baby's fingers..........how do they get there anyway??

OP posts:
MadreInglese · 24/06/2010 16:50

do you lick your thumb and rub muck off them too?

SloanyPony · 24/06/2010 16:52

Its called preening, and gorillas and stuff do it to each other, is natural

mumoffourgirls · 24/06/2010 16:52

Fluffy toes

diamondsandtiaras · 24/06/2010 17:02

MadreInglese · 24/06/2010 17:07

lol

Poledra · 24/06/2010 17:08

Oh, I used to love unfolding my baby's fist and getting the fluff out of the creases in their palm!

fernie3 · 24/06/2010 17:10

I do it although I have noticed that I no longer feel like picking my 5 year olds nose - perhaps because it looks too grown up for me - I do nag her to blow it though secretly hoping she ignores me and picks it (I feel bad telling her to pick her nose).

DramaInPyjamas · 24/06/2010 17:11

I love it. I would do it all day if they let me.

lazarusb · 24/06/2010 17:12

I like to pull off the ragged bits of skin by their fingernails They hate it and don't let me do it anymore. It hurts them, but I love it!

Surprise · 24/06/2010 17:15

This will DEFINITELY wear off as they go older, believe me!

windywendy · 24/06/2010 17:15

YANBU

I love picking, squeezing and plucking things. I had to sit on my hands at a meeting yesterday as the man next to me had a random thick black hair growing out of his cheek that I wanted to pluck and a big juicy whitehead behind his ear. I would have been in heaven if he had let me sort them out, but I couldn't think of a polite way to ask!

honeydragon · 24/06/2010 17:17

yup, love it all dd had belly button fluff the other day I was overjoyed. fernie3 I know what you mean about them getting older - I feel quite put out that my 7 year old can now fossick around in his own ears.

ebayaddict · 24/06/2010 17:18

yanbu - I'm exactly the same and dd (6 yo)takes after me. She always picking the fluff between her toes (toe jam as she calls it)
It was great when my yournger brother was a teenager as he had excellent blackheads all over his back that i used to get rid of for him. V theraputic

I also get great pleasure from taking spliters out whole with a needle and tweezers.

susiecutiebananas · 24/06/2010 17:19

I do it all... to Dd and DH. He says he loves coming home ( he works away in week) as he gets thorough body clean- he gets psoriasis so I love giving that a good de scaling - makes him feel better too, less itchy/tight skinned.
If theres something to be picked, scrapped, dug out, spit washed off ( Dd not DH- think he'd draw line at that!) then I'm in there.

I used to Love cleaning DD when she was a baby, in the bath, finding god knows what, and god knows how it got there, under her chin...

Its disgusting, I know, but I just cant help myself... its almost an addiction

DO I need help ?

Sal321 · 24/06/2010 17:43

DH likes to do this to me - by pulling out the grey hairs. I've had to put a stop to it as I think I might end up bald .

secunda · 24/06/2010 17:45

DP gets psoriasis on his scalp sometimes. I love combing it out with my fingernails. It makes him go all peaceful and sleepy so he loves it too

auburnlizzy78 · 24/06/2010 17:56

DH gets really dark hairs on his back and growing out of his moles (making him sound hideous, but it's only the odd hair and he is actually very attractive). Love trimming them, he won't let me pluck!

Last summer, poor love got sunburnt and let me pick it off. Does anyone else like doing this - the bigger the bit of skin that comes off in one go, the more satisfaction?

Like scratching his sideburns and getting all the dead skin out. And ears. The only thing is he won't let me get any big bits of skin out when he's driving. No fun.

Mercedes519 · 24/06/2010 18:03

Did you ever cover your hands in PVA glue at school just so you could peel it off?

I think its in all of us - especially the ones who won't admit it....

diamondsandtiaras · 24/06/2010 18:12

I'm afraid I do draw the line at squeezing other people's spots! I do scratch dry skin out of DHs eyebrows though.........soooo pleasurable!!

Getting dirt out from underneath fingernails is another one........

YANBU

I thought I was alone with the ear wax thing. I have to stop myself picking at other children's ears.

TulipsInTheSunshine · 24/06/2010 18:18

you need cats.

filthy buggers always have scabs and ticks that need picking and they really appreciate you doing it... what with their lack of opposable thumbs to do it themselves.

although that being said my 5 and almost 4 year old children are still fairly tolerant of me 'grooming' them so i may get a while more out of them yet before me picking results in choruses of 'Muuuuuum! Stop Thaaaat!'

BalloonSlayer · 24/06/2010 18:19

I was summoning a reluctant child to the window, cotton bud in my hand, the other day.

DC - Mummmeeeee, why are you doing my ears again?

DH - Come on, DS, Mummy doesn't do this because she enjoys it you know.

Me - Urrrrrrrrm, well actually . . .

TBH I now look in all kids ears, frequently wince and occasionally retch.
