To think that very christian people often look different?

I don't mean this in an unpleasant way. I just find that sometimes when I meet people I think "you look like you are a deeply religious christian" and generally I am right, they do turn out to be. I don't think it works on less committed christians. Is this like having gaydar? Does anyone else have this experience? What is it I see in their appearance that makes me think this? Am I just kidding myself about this in some way?

notconvincedaboutthis - No, I'm not convinced either.

Is it the halo? Or the huge cross strapped to their back?

Um?

Good luck with this one.

lottiejenkins · 23/06/2010 14:58

Im a Christian and i dont dress any differently! Hope that answers your rather bigoted question!!!

AnyFucker · 23/06/2010 15:00

oh dear

Otterlybotterly · 23/06/2010 15:00

God-dar?

mistletoekisses · 23/06/2010 15:01

Lordy lord.

Do I sound Christian? Am not, but am praying for you - good luck with this!

What a weird thing to say.

Do you find you have a use for this talent in your everyday life?

Wtf? Is it the carrier bags full of loaves & fishes they tend to carry around?

moondog · 23/06/2010 15:02

I know what you mean.

I flew back to the States last month.

Half thep lane seemed to be young blokes going to Vegas, the other half were young male mormons back from a hellish stint of door knocking in thr UK.

Fascinating to compare the groups.

MissTrumpton · 23/06/2010 15:03

I know what you mean. I think that you can tell that Jonathan Edwards (triple jumper) is a commited Christian but I can't pinpoint why.

AgentZigzag · 23/06/2010 15:05

He's not anymore MissT, I think he fell out with God when his marriage broke down.

toccatanfudge · 23/06/2010 15:08

well I guess in that case there must only be a few Christians at my church........as there's so many different "styles" of dressing on a Sunday morning that I@m sure only a few would fit your ideas

AgentZigzag · 23/06/2010 15:09

Obviously your God-dar busted MissT.

I think a sense that pinpointed wanker blokes would have more use and commercial opportunities?

Longtalljosie · 23/06/2010 15:10

Is it the sandals?

Hullygully · 23/06/2010 15:13

I would agree that there is a Christian "look," but there are also an awful lot in disguise, as I find out to my cost every time I open my mouth to share a joke about religion.

MiladyDeStillSoddingWinter · 23/06/2010 15:14

I have God-dar. Christians are generally unlined and serene.

I'm not a Christian and it shows

porcamiseria · 23/06/2010 15:16

sandels and socks gives it away I think

heymango · 23/06/2010 15:18

This reminds me of when my friend and I used to go shopping together as teenagers and dismiss anything white, floaty and virginal as 'a bit christian'.

Obviously at the time we were more into microscopic skirts and cropped tops - classy!

Floaty, white tops win these days.

shockers · 23/06/2010 15:21

I don't think the OP meant by their mode of dress. I once heard a friend of ours described as having light shining from him... he is a commited Christian.

The comment came from a non Christian BTW.

notconvincedaboutthis · 23/06/2010 15:21

I'm not sure it is about clothes - I think it might be more about expression, demeanour and hairstyle.

What is the dress code that leads you to this conclusion?
Crown of Thorns?
Do they glow in the dark?
Referring to ones Primark mac as a raiment?

Either I lack God-dar, or your q is preposterous.
