OnEdge · 21/06/2010 18:07

Its a relative concept.

Bonsoir · 21/06/2010 18:07

Or maybe private schools are absolutely fantastic, whereas state schools are just about OK?

pagwatch · 21/06/2010 18:08

I need a with a big turd on....

violethill · 21/06/2010 18:09

Are you suggesting that everything bought with money has a commensurate value?

foureleven · 21/06/2010 18:09

No, its just that private schools are slightly better (for want of a better word - meaning they generally get better results, although theyre not right for every child)
So if you can afford it you may choose to send your child to one.

its like saying sainsburys food is shit otherwise why would anyone buy M&S... its not shit its just all some can afford. Duh.

what was your education gracey?

colditz · 21/06/2010 18:10

people send their children to private school so that their children don't have to mix with chavs.

violethill · 21/06/2010 18:10

Or maybe some schools are fantastic, some are ok and some are crap, and it's not about whether they are private or state?

two minds, Riven...

Bonsoir · 21/06/2010 18:11

My DSS2 is currently spending 5 weeks at an English boarding prep school. This is costing us £3,000 (before uniform, travel and visits...). He has never been happier in his life. He would hate to return to his (top end) French state secondary. Fortunately he won't have to.

usualsuspect · 21/06/2010 18:12

Maybe private schools are full of stuck up pretentious kids ..just to even things out

whiteliesaregoodlies · 21/06/2010 18:12

What violethill said.

Oh and 2/10 for you. Must Do Better.

Poor DS1 and DD then

We spend all that money so they can avoid common people and those with disabilities ...and then they get home and have to put up with DS2 and my family.
Damn them

Fuckers

wahwah · 21/06/2010 18:16

Yes, private schools are just our way of making sure our state school children don't have to mix with THEM!

TrillianAstra · 21/06/2010 18:17

It's all about the intangible benefits...

(what colditz said)

BigFatSepticToe · 21/06/2010 18:17

Tap water is dead cheap, doesn't stop people insisting they'll only drink bottled water at £££ a go....

your suggestion is ludicrous OP

and i think this thread is a wind up so will ignore now

StuckInTheMiddleWithYou · 21/06/2010 18:19

lol @ wahwah

Most private schools are a waste of money. If the child isn't bright before they go, they won't be when they get out either.

It is entirely about snobbery, segregation and conspicuous consumption.
