To have a favourite mug?

Which I love and think that tea in it tastes better than other mugs?

DH thinks I am a little bit loopy and always winds me up by making me tea in another mug, but I love my favourite one.

If it got broken I think my hear would break too

i have exactly the same, although i have a few. Me and DP have actually had full scale arguments because he consistently uses the 'wrong' mug to make my tea in. god, inconsiderate bastard

PrincessBoo · 06/06/2010 21:10

YANBU. I get a bit pissy if someone else uses my mug.

MrsHarkness · 06/06/2010 21:11

YANBU I thought everyone had a favourite mug

ShadeofViolet · 06/06/2010 21:12

i have particular mugs for particular drinks

at particular times of day [anal emoticon]

i have been known to pour drinks between vessels in order to make it "right" when dh has cocked it up. again.

GormlessHeart · 06/06/2010 21:13

yanbu, I had a favourite mug that did break, and I have found a replacement at last. lovely

CDMforever · 06/06/2010 21:14

YANBU at all! I don't just have a favourite mug but also mugs for different moods I'm in. There's my everyday mug, my everything's wonderful in the world mug and my keep your chin up mug.
Now I write this down, it does sound a bit OCD......

OhExpletive · 06/06/2010 21:15

DP and I have our own mugs. He actually made me one - disappeared off on his bike one morning without explanation, and it turned out he'd been painting it for me at the local pottery shop! But I broke it so now I have a fab Le Creuset one. Tea tastes MUCH better in it.

SparklyJules · 06/06/2010 21:17

That's perfectly natural. I've got a mug that my babysitting charges gave me when I was 17 (a loooong time ago) and if it broke I would have to go into official mourning.

H prefers a cup. This is because he is very girly about tea. Harhar!

RustyBear · 06/06/2010 21:20

Lots of the staff at the school I work at have favourite mugs. None of them are particularly possessive about them though, unlike a teacher at a school where my friend did supply. He was told 'make yourself a cup of tea at break' so he did, but he evidently used the wrong mug, as he'd just sat down with it when a teacher came in, took one look and calmly took the mug out of his hand, poured his tea down the sink, made herself another cup and sat down to drink it - all without saying a word....

Bunnyjo · 06/06/2010 21:20

YA definitely NBU. I have a favourite mug for coffee and I would be heartbroken if it broke! I also prefer tea from a china cup which makes my DH and ...

TrinityTrinityTrinity · 06/06/2010 21:21

I had a 'I love my grandma' mug that craig and gf gave me for mothers day

I loved it
I broke it today

dobbyssocks · 06/06/2010 21:25

Several favourites here depending on whether its tea or coffee. Little whirl of excitment when favourite makes it back into cupboard from dishwasher

bluebump · 06/06/2010 21:27

I have a favourite 'normal' tea mug and a different mug that is my favourite for drinking peppermint tea/other herbal teas out of despite having a cupboard full of others.

drinkyourmilk · 06/06/2010 21:28

I too have a favourite - in fact i only ever drink from that mug. it gets rinsed between cups during the day and in the dishwasher overnight.

What is your favourite mug like? I am very picky about the thickness of the rim and only find very few that please.

Tn0g · 06/06/2010 21:31

I don't have a favourite nug but I have a Burleigh teacup with matching saucer that I always have to use if I'm having tea.

< weirdo that I am >

I have a favourite ug, a beast of a thing I stole found in my bag when I came home from Starbucks one time. It holds a lot of coffee, and I need that of a morning

HurleySatOnMe · 06/06/2010 21:35

lvav, you can't talk about rims on a holy day

Linziwam · 06/06/2010 21:35

Eleanor, you have 8 mugs??? we have about 50! Even ones at the back of the cupboard with no handles. maybe i should have a clear out?
LordV, my fav is a big one that my best mate got made for me with photos of all our holidays etc pre DCs. I look at the photos, sigh, and remember how much fun i was!

suwoo · 06/06/2010 21:40

My favourite one is a bone china one as I like the rim to be quite thin. It isn't very pretty though, tis white with an old lady flower on it. I will only drink my weak black twinings everyday out of that one.

LordVolAuVent · 06/06/2010 21:53

Glad you picked up on that Hurley, was worried I'd been too subtle

Seriously though, it is important to me. My perfect rimmed mug is one of my mum's. I'm desperate to steal it, as I've never found one that lives up to it, but it holds sentimental value for her so she would notice, the hawk eyed bitch

LordVolAuVent · 06/06/2010 21:55

Suwoo understands about rim thickness (I too like it fairly thin). But I'm not a fan of Twinings tea, think it is milky piss water myself.
