To be a bit [hmm] at Figleaves?

I confess I used to work for them, but I was a bit annoyed at this.

Why have they not linked to the NHS breastfeeding site, but linked to Cow and Gate? I have sent them a very detailed email pointing this out which I know they will appreciate.

No judginess involved. I guess it's like the Tesco newborn nappy packaging.

money (advertising) I guess [frozen]

toccatanfudge · 06/06/2010 20:21

WTF I didn't mean frozen I meant frown

SPBHatesFootball · 06/06/2010 20:23

it is bad that they've linked to C&G, I'm guessing that as a commercial organisation they can do as they like though.
Still, won't do much for their sales of nursing bras

mrsgordonfreeman · 06/06/2010 20:26

I have told them that they're not going to get many repeat sales of nursing bras if they don't link to some decent sites.

I say that having bought a second set of Elle MacPherson La Meres while there's still 20% off.

how about because not everyone can or chooses to breastfeed? I like the fact that they dont discriminate.

victoriascrumptious · 06/06/2010 20:30

Oh FFS arnt there more important things to worry about?

SPBHatesFootball · 06/06/2010 20:31

yes, but this is MN, we discuss little things & trivia as well as world peace and crime & punishment

victoriascrumptious · 06/06/2010 20:32

Yes, well, I insist it stops

lol - off to delete my entire posting history then

SoupDragon · 06/06/2010 20:34

Actually, given you aren't allowed to promote infant formula, it is not a good idea to link to a infant formula manufacturer on a "maternity check list".

Shaz10 · 06/06/2010 20:35

I couldn't get the link to work.

SPBHatesFootball · 06/06/2010 20:35

I wondered that SD...I think they'd get away with it though as it isn't directly promoting infant formula.

SoupDragon · 06/06/2010 20:36

IMO that is promoting an infant formula, regardless of what else they manufacture.

LondonNinja · 06/06/2010 20:36

Yet another thing that makes me shudder slightly at not being able to fully bf my DD...

SoupDragon · 06/06/2010 20:37

It's under "maternity hospital packing list". What else do cow and gate make that is appropriate for that?

EricNorthmansmistress · 06/06/2010 20:39

Yes but so is 'nursing bras' and 'breast pads'.

SPBHatesFootball · 06/06/2010 20:39

yes, I know but I was surprised to learn you are allowed to promote bottles, so I'd imagine if that's allowed then simply linking to a website would be OK too. Would be interested to know if you're right though.

mrsgordonfreeman · 06/06/2010 20:43

I am not interested in a formula v breastfeeding discussion. Formula isn't poison, blah blah.

What I am interested in is why Figleaves would link to one formula company and yet not supply a direct link to any breastfeeding advice site, particularly as they sell nursing bras!

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 06/06/2010 20:45

Oh, I've no idea if its legal or not.. They don't to my knowledge manufacture anything else that's suitable for an infant though, do they?

Eric, it is not illegal to promote nursing bras and pads though.

SoupDragon · 06/06/2010 20:46

I'm not arguing the rights and wrongs of the law as it stands, just where this falls wrt the current law.

SoupDragon · 06/06/2010 20:46

Surely they must have been paid to include the link?

whooosh · 06/06/2010 20:50

OFGS-are there not more important things to worry about.
Is this "breast-feeding Nazi-ism" at it's best?

Is it REALLY more important than everything else going on in the world,or even our country right now??

SoupDragon · 06/06/2010 20:52

Oh do fuck off with your offensive terms, woooosh..

foureleven · 06/06/2010 20:52

Is it really illegal to advertise formula milk?
