AIBU to be a bit peeved Corrie is cancelled 2 nights in a row...?

I know the reasons for this being cancelled, and last night, fair enough, but two nights in a row?

We're all adults and can deal with violence. It happens around the world every single day, not one day is there not something horrible on the news, but television still continues as normal.

Do you think it's a bit of an over reaction to completly cancel Coronation Street, perhaps a warning beforehand would have being more appropriate?

YABU and really really selfish.

Guess no one you know was killed in a random, pointless act of violence yday?

cluckyduck · 03/06/2010 21:03

YABU. And a dickhead.

LetThereBeRock · 03/06/2010 21:03

I think it's an overreaction to get upset enough about it being cancelled that you post to say so.

The incident just happened yesterday and it would be inappropriate to show episodes featuring shootings just 24 hours later.

Pattertwig · 03/06/2010 21:03

have a heart

LetThereBeRock · 03/06/2010 21:04

And be grateful that you're here to whinge about it because 12 people aren't.

I'm sure they'll show it in time but now certainly isn't the right time.

peppapighastakenovermylife · 03/06/2010 21:04

Erm...respect perhaps?

It's a TV programme...no need for it to be on.

southeastastra · 03/06/2010 21:04

really any need to call op dickhead?

Gin4495 · 03/06/2010 21:05

I didn't realise it featured shootings.....I thought they blew the factory up! Oops!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not so upset I'm sat here weeping about Corrie cancelled, just thought it was an over reaction.

ShirleyKnot · 03/06/2010 21:08

YABU

LetThereBeRock · 03/06/2010 21:13

Well now you know. It really wouldn't make sense to take it off air if the storyline was about a factory explosion which is an entirely unrelated incident.

LetThereBeRock · 03/06/2010 21:14

I can understand your post if you thought that was the case.

YABU, for wanting to watch Coronation street EVER.

ItsGraceAgain · 03/06/2010 21:17

YANBU! This sort of thing gets on my tits. Not wrt Corrie in particular, just the general business of cancelling/rescheduling/re-scripting fictitious works out of perceived 'sensitivity' to real events. Any minute now, they'll be taking all the books off the shelves whenever something happens that resembles the book's content.

Ladyanonymous · 03/06/2010 21:18

...and what Disenchanted3 said ....

TheNextMrsDepp · 03/06/2010 21:18

I don't watch it, so I've no idea, but my mum agrees with you, OP.

ItsGraceAgain · 03/06/2010 21:18

And deciding not to show the relevant news items! You know, just in case it upsets anybody.

SweetestThing · 03/06/2010 21:19

With ItGraceAgain and OP.

Gin4495 · 03/06/2010 21:19

Disenchanted - YABU, for wanting to watch Coronation street EVER.

Ha ha, I love Corrie!

OP posts:
LetThereBeRock · 03/06/2010 21:20

I see you're familiar with hyperbole Grace.

LetThereBeRock · 03/06/2010 21:20

And I have to agree with Disenchanted.

compo · 03/06/2010 21:21

I don't get why they wanted all that violence on in btw a family show anyway
harry hill so much better

PassMeTheKleenex · 03/06/2010 21:22

And showing Harry Hill is such a well recognised mark of respect...

ShirleyKnot · 03/06/2010 21:25

I don't think Harry Hill had a bunch of shooting going on this evening did it?

(I wouldn't know, I've been watching a Sky plussed Hotel Inspector )

Ladyanonymous · 03/06/2010 21:25

To be fair to the OP and others who agree I do doubt that anyone affected is going to be watching Corrie or really care about Corrie right now - but all the same its a mark of respect and TV needs to be sensitive to the mood of the country and I would rather they were over sensitive...?
