Hi

I have just watched DIY sos and a perfectly pleasant woman had the most awful tattoos. Why on earth to people do this to themselves.

I do think there is the ocassional taateful tattoo but it is the odd one. Andy while it might look great on a fit 22 year old body a tattoo of any kind will NEVER look great in your 50s.

OP posts:

terrible of her.
fancy that
she had lost her dd, taken on her dd's twins brought them up, battled cancer. and the op thickly judges her on her..........Tatoos

BelleDameSansMerci · 31/05/2010 21:51

Laurie, wouldn't a tattoo on your foot be quite painful? I quite fancy one near my little toe but am put off by the thought of the pain. I have one near my coccyx but that's quite a padded area (plus I used Emla).

Also, as I'll be 45 in September, I think I'll get them in now before they, and presumably I also, get "gross" when I'm fifty.

SleepingLion · 31/05/2010 21:59

I read that that blonde woman from Mamma Mia - Amanda Seyfried? - has had 'minge' tattooed on her foot.

Is that a tattoo look that we can all agree is not a great one?

starshaker · 31/05/2010 21:59

The foot is the most painful part i have every had tattooed, and i fell asleep for a couple of hours when my back was being done

BritFish · 31/05/2010 22:02

ITS GROUNDHOG DAY. oh my god.

OFF YOU FUCK. [to the other thread, which we did last night/today]

SleepingLion:
its a silly tattoo, but a great reminder of when she was young beautiful and silly, dont you think?

BelleDameSansMerci · 31/05/2010 22:04

star - you see, I only want a little ladybird but I'm not sure I could handle the pain. I've got quite fat feet though - disproportionately fat really.

SleepingLion · 31/05/2010 22:08

Now, If I were to get a tattoo, I'd have this:

In fact I think all MNetters should have a MN emoticon tattoo so that they can easily identify each other. A bit like a secret handshake only more permanent...

Kaloki · 31/05/2010 22:08

god forbid people can do what they like with their own bodies. Of course YABU! You needed to ask?!

SingingTunelessly · 31/05/2010 22:10

Don't really know if yabu tbh. Just know if I see someone with a tattoo I think they are a bit dim.

BelleDameSansMerci · 31/05/2010 22:11

SleepingLion - brilliant. Just bloody brilliant!

ApocalypseCheese · 31/05/2010 22:13

Ambles back to facebook.

Kaloki · 31/05/2010 22:16

"Don't really know if yabu tbh. Just know if I see someone with a tattoo I think they are a bit dim. "

Why? Do you always judge people based on one aspect of their appearance in isolation? Do you think blondes are dumb? Black people are aggressive? Jews are tight? Women in shorter skirts are slags?

Gichin · 31/05/2010 22:16

SingingTunelessly

I agree with you. I know I really shouldn't generalise, but I really can't help it. I see a woman with a tattoo and I just think Jeremy Kyle. I just think it looks sooooooo cheap. I really do think its a case of "Look at me, arn't I different". And what sort of example do these women to their children?

Kaloki · 31/05/2010 22:17

Better examples than making nasty comments about other people I'd have thought

BusyMissIzzy · 31/05/2010 22:18

That's a bit of a generalisation Singing. Tattoos used to be about displaying individuality, unfortunately now they've been adopted by the masses. I think the dim ones with tattoos would probably look dim even without them.

ChocolatePants · 31/05/2010 22:18

Oh ffs the whole thread.

Gichin · 31/05/2010 22:19

Kaloki

Why on earth would anyone think black people were aggressive? What a strange post. Me thinks perhaps you have issues pertaining to cultural differences,

BritFish · 31/05/2010 22:20

oh Gichin's here! i would never have guessed.

ShesEverSoFamous · 31/05/2010 22:20

"Better examples than making nasty comments about other people I'd have thought "
Exactly.
Also folks, tattoos are meant to be permanent, that's kinda the point.

Kaloki · 31/05/2010 22:20

Thankyou for backing up my point gichin, it's a preposterous idea. With as much basis in reality as tattoos = dim.

Hence why I used it as an example.

Snobear4000 · 31/05/2010 22:22

i think black Jew's with tatos look like jeremy kyle

...

...

...do I win a prize?

BelleDameSansMerci · 31/05/2010 22:24

I see/read a woman with intolerant views and pointless prejudices and think "Good heavens, I wonder why they feel the need to share them."

2shoes · 31/05/2010 22:27

Gichin can you get you head out of your arse long enough to realise that you are a snob?

AnnieLobeseder · 31/05/2010 22:28

I like to think that my morals, kind nature, good work ethic, PhD in molecular biology (sorry folks, had to throw that in to counter the 'dim' argument), snappy yet sensible dress sense and my tattoos will, in their entirety, do (sic) a wonderful example to my daughters about being strong, intelligent and independent women.

IMoveTheStars · 31/05/2010 22:28

Gichin has a very bizarre view of how people express themselves.

and she's a twat.
