to think that if a Mumsnetter is planning to leave this site she should bloody well be allowed to say goodbye without being jeered at and booed off the stage?

I don't think anyone interesting should leave, ever. MN will be full of huns and before you know it.

hairymelons · 27/05/2010 22:09

What's wrong with trawling for compliments and ego stroking?

How else would one ever get any?

Compliments, that is.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 28/05/2010 09:54

I'm kinda with sm. It is a bit needy. But then I lurve sm

bibbitybobbityhat · 28/05/2010 13:13

I don't think it always is needy. I think it can just be a straight goodbye thanks for all the fun. This is what the whole thread was about (not meeeeee in particular) - I hate to see people projecting (mebbe their own insecurities?) on to non-flouncing types who are off and take the trouble to say so.

Personally I hate it when people just disappear.

I am contemplating change and just thinking aloud. Certainly don't need my ego stroked, thanks all the same .

sorry bibbity

pagwatch · 28/05/2010 15:52

is there anything else you would like stroked Bibbity.. you know, to encourage you to stay?

Hullygully · 28/05/2010 16:07

Sorry Bibs, she has got all overexcited after a peachy thread.

pagwatch · 28/05/2010 16:09
SpringHeeledJack · 28/05/2010 16:09

I don't think it's needy to say tata

tis polite

I always feel uncomfortable when people just disappear.

Pleeeease don't go though, Bibbity...just hide the handwringing threads. Ah, go on, do!

Jamieandhismagictorch · 28/05/2010 18:17

No, I don't think it's needy to say goodbye, it may be construed as needy to threaten to leave. Is what I meant.

scottishmummy · 28/05/2010 20:14

if someone is going.just go,cheerie bye.off you trot

its the right im offsky! mn aint as good as the ole days brigade.alleged halcyon days of great posts, everyone knew each other and shouted
"we did that already"
"search the archives"
"i'll get the popcorn"

the protracted threads of oh im really off now.mn is ruined.ruined ah tell ye.no like when ah was a gerl.too many newbies etc

fishing for inevitable pleas
of oh dont go duffus
we lurve you so much
and your are mn to me

CheekyPinkSox · 28/05/2010 20:24

Ooooh did someone say party BOF Im up for a Mumsnet party lol

HecateQueenOfWitches · 28/05/2010 20:28

I dunno. I think it depends. There are 'goodbyes' that are clearly attention seeking and the op wants people to beg and plead with her to stay and all rally round her to tear a strip off whoever has dared to offend.

Those people I think are manipulative and have no intention of going.

Then there are people who just say bye, cos they talk on here a lot and are not going to and have formed sort of friendships. Fair enough.

I've bogged off a time or two. Don't announce it because I don't expect that anyone gives a flying fuck. MN is a big place and I think unless you are in one of the little groups - the ttc or the weightloss or healthy eating etc etc, where you chat with the same people a lot, I think there's little point doing an announcement because practically nobody knows who the hell you are and those who do wouldn't notice if you were around or not!

pedrothellama · 28/05/2010 20:29

Ok Bibbity - I left a post on the thread about 'How did we choose our MN names' and I knew EXACTLY where yours came from and praised it.

I love that album and you went right UP in my fave list because of it.

[Still in love with David Bowie sort of face]

mrsruffallo · 28/05/2010 21:07

I agree with scottishmummy. Just go if you want to go, don't fish for compliments and posters pleading for you to stay

Quattrocento · 28/05/2010 21:16

Getting a job is a bit of a feeble excuse for leaving MN

Bibbity stop it and stay on

thumbwitch · 29/05/2010 01:41

Hec, glad your name is back to being more recognisable now! (And yes, I know it has been for a while)

I do agree with AF there, BO - do something interesting then!

Oh but you'll all be in bed by now, won't you.
