So us girlies on the whole make an effort, we dress accordingly, moisturize, shave fake tan, whatever.Perhaps the boys should follow our example as there have been some dreadful, chicken legs on sight today. Not to mention the ruddy red faces, or the whaley torsos, god fellas get a girdle or stay indoors.I know we can't all be drop dead gorgeous, but have some decorum. What makes me laugh most is their utter confidence in their "looks", god, puke.
I probably am being unreasonable but there have been some sights for sore eyes on the streets today.

bloke..is you have a beer bely...please keep your top on.

Avad · 22/05/2010 15:15

Oh yes, let's keep all the uglies and fatties inside during this lovely weather to avoid upsetting you slim lithe lovelies shall we?

YADBU.

darkandstormy · 22/05/2010 15:30

Some of these men should just dress with some more decorum is my point. For example wear shorts the correct size to avoid dreadful overhang.

darkandstormy · 22/05/2010 15:33

Perhaps this shoud be more in the style and beauty section.Although clearly it is a national distaste issue that needs to be addressed.

Point of information: "sight for sore eyes" means something nice - something that would soothe sore eyes

As you were

bobbiewickham · 22/05/2010 15:34

They don't have to stay in, but getting bloody dressed would help.

Bum cracks, sweaty armpit hair, spotty backs, red shoulders, beer guts, hairy backs - you expect it on your husband, hell, you signed up for it, but on someone else's? In the street? Right in your face?

T-shirts not that expensive. Nor is deodorant. Nor soap.

BabyDubsEverywhere · 22/05/2010 15:37

Wow! Id kill for any body confidence and certainly wouldnt knock it in others, no matter what they looked like, and i really dont get why anyone would. Wonder if you'd have wrote the same conditins about women and posted it on this forum. discusting. YABU. and very nasty too.

BabyDubsEverywhere · 22/05/2010 15:38

typo's - ahh, wriggly baby and crappy computer sorry

darkandstormy · 22/05/2010 15:43

I am not being nasty, there is nothing wrong with wanting men to acquire a bit of style. As BOBBIEWICKAM states getting dressed would be a start.FWIW most woman I saw around today had made a big effort lovely outfits painted toes etc, some more glam than others but all having made an effort.

OP posts:
bobbiewickham · 22/05/2010 15:43

Erm I would, actually.

Can't stand standing in the Co-op queue behind some woman in a bikini top and shorts. Never know where to look.

I don't inflict my cellulite, thread veins, stretchmarks or extraneous body hair on anyone who doesn't ask me to, and I haven't died of overheating yet.

Just get dressed in public, streakers! It's not much to ask...

bobbiewickham · 22/05/2010 15:44

That should read be dressed in public.

cupcakesandbunting · 23/05/2010 09:07

YANBU.

I am a wee bit chubby curvy and dress appropriately. Nice cool kaftan with well-fitting shorts and sandals = lovely. Hell, it's not even got anything to do with body-shape/confidence anyway. Going out semi-naked whatever your body type = tacky.

You never go to Greece/Spain/other hot countries and see the locals parading around topless/semi-nude. It's a brit affliction. Sun shines, belly oot. Don't want or need to see it, thanks.

mountainmonkey · 23/05/2010 09:20

Errr...I've seen some underdressed women looking a state- its not just the men!

overmydeadbody · 23/05/2010 09:27

baby she's not BU at all.

It's not about self-confidence, it's about dressing appropriately.

It is disgusting seeing people walking around with barely any clothes on just because it's hot. I hate hate hate men who walk around town in their vests, or worse, topless. Topless is for the beach, not the high street

And yes, it's just as bad when females have no regard for what they are showing to the public.

overmydeadbody · 23/05/2010 09:29

I grew up in the Middle East and you never ever saw men walking around topless, or stripping down to their vest

I saw some right states of women yesterday too though, horrible ill fitting clothes that barely covered anything.

ChocolatePants · 23/05/2010 09:30

Yesterday I saw at least 10 big fat hairy blokes with no top on....all before 10 am!

overmydeadbody · 23/05/2010 09:35

IT is horrible.

And they are always a certain 'type'.

arsesandoldlace · 23/05/2010 09:43

I don't care if a guy looks like Brad Pitt, tops should stay on. It's tacky and dare I say, common to walk around topless.

Until women can breastfeed openly with no ignorant comments made, then men should have to display the same modesty.

Snorbs · 23/05/2010 09:45

So what you're saying is that these people should dress so as to conform to your ideas of what is suitable. Do you have any other despotic tendencies?

AngelsOnHigh · 23/05/2010 10:17

Bit off the topic arsesandoldlace but I was having lunch in upmarket restaurant yesterday with my mum.

Table next to us had 4 people, one a mum with five week old baby. (Heard her tell the waiter).

Noticed she was BF baby with blanket discreetly over her.

Dear mum started muttering how irresponsible the mum was with her clothing all over the place.

Rather surprised as mum is very tolerant re most things.

I stated that the mum did have a blanket over her.

Mum replied "I'm not talking about her feeding the baby, I'm talking about how you can see most of her back and stomach. She's going to end up with a cold. Everyone knows that when a woman has a baby she has to be particularly careful for at least 6 months so that she doesn't end up sick or with a cold herself"

AngelsOnHigh · 23/05/2010 10:20

On the subject though. Jelly bellies on men or woman always seem to be covered with shirts 3 sizes smaller than they should be.

A large well groomed man or woman with clothes that fit looks just as nice as the smaller men and women.

nappyaddict · 23/05/2010 13:50

Topless blokes and women in bikini tops really doesn't bother me as long as it's not in an indoor shopping centre, pub, restaurant or cafe. I was a bit when at the restaurant I work in a girl of about 9 came into my work wearing just a bikini though.

ruckyrunt · 23/05/2010 14:02

I don't really like seeing yeards of flesh bulging all over the place with a wibble wobble - but I doubt things will change and people are just getting more and more wibbley

but it is my perogative not to like it

mayorquimby · 23/05/2010 14:41

"Not to mention the ruddy red faces, or the whaley torsos,"
"What makes me laugh most is their utter confidence in their "looks", god, puke"

Do you honestly think there are more men who suffer from these problems and delusions than women?

WingedVictory · 23/05/2010 21:15

Oh, people should definitely get dressed properly!

However, I am developing a weapon against this sort of thing and will be happy to roll it out as a mass weapon soon: when DS sees a man with no shirt on, he shouts, "Man NAKID!" and repeats as often he can before we move out of sight.

Anyone want to borrow DS?
