So us girlies on the whole make an effort, we dress accordingly, moisturize, shave fake tan, whatever.Perhaps the boys should follow our example as there have been some dreadful, chicken legs on sight today. Not to mention the ruddy red faces, or the whaley torsos, god fellas get a girdle or stay indoors.I know we can't all be drop dead gorgeous, but have some decorum. What makes me laugh most is their utter confidence in their "looks", god, puke.
I probably am being unreasonable but there have been some sights for sore eyes on the streets today.

Oh, dear!

I meant: "apart from the lack of hairiness, gratuitous lard, overt sexuality and other things we are complaining about on this thread"

What a horrible mother I nearly was, saying such things!

WingedVictory · 24/05/2010 16:07

blackflyinyourchardonnay, I'm sure no-one looks at your knees when you are borne along by graceful wafts of Chardonnay, as I imagine from your nickname!

And what is cute about the littlies (apart from the hairiness, gratuitous lard, overt sexuality and other things we are complaining about on this thread) is that they are not posing. (Anne Geddes naked babes, by contrast, don't always do it for me.) Then we get the prudish sort of teenagers who, again, are quite sweet because we don't see Everything. I don't like half-naked teenagers any more than half-naked old-enough-to-know-betters! Ugh.

blackflyinyourchardonnay · 24/05/2010 15:26

I dread to think WingedVictory!

Ha and very true about our DSs' still being cute naked! In fact, only yesterday I was looking at DS's chubby knees, and thinking how lucky he is that his chubby knees are cute. My chubby knees aren't!

LouIsOnAHighwayToHell · 24/05/2010 13:25

I have to agree completely!
Why is it that the most fattest, sweatiest, hairiest man can prance around with his shirt off thinking he is the next supermodel but if he sees a woman with some excess skin/fat showing then he feels he is within his rights to make rude comments about how fat the woman is or how much she resembles a whale etc

WingedVictory · 24/05/2010 13:18

blackflyinyourchardonnay, at 3, I imagine your little one has developed a bit more lung power, and is more articulate, too! I'm quite looking forward to that age. I wonder what else he can have a go at with a bit more vocab and the bigger voice?

Anyway, we can congratulate ourselves that our little ones are still cute when naked, so ner to hairy moobs and sweaty exposed muffin-tops!

cupcakesandbunting · 24/05/2010 10:49

We went out to a lovely little riverside town yesterday and got our eyeballs assaulted by various gentlemen displaying their man-tits/lovely tattoos of killer dogs. As I said to DH, the police should be issued with t-shirts to hand out to these bare-bellied bushpigs.

I'm aware that I sound very nazi-ish

BeenBeta · 24/05/2010 09:09

There are only two rules for summer dressing:

  1. Never expose more flesh in public than you would in winter, just wear lighter clothes;
  1. If you really must take your clothes off to sunbathe, always work with gravity never against it, by laying down quickly on a lounger.
blackflyinyourchardonnay · 24/05/2010 08:28

has don't know what I used 2!

blackflyinyourchardonnay · 24/05/2010 08:27

He's 3 WingedVictory, he's very honest, and has unfortunately has no volume control!

PrimroseCrabapple · 23/05/2010 22:54

Screaming Eagle - bet he was gay!

ScaredOne · 23/05/2010 22:28

I am far from perfect but I make sure my skirts aren't short enough to show off the not-so perfect parts of my legs etc. Went into town today though and had to see loads of guys without t shirts. It's not a beach for Gods sake. What makes people think it's ok to walk around without a top? And that in Glasgow, where it wasn't even that hot. So it's not like people would shrivel up and die because they wear a shirt and get over heated. I mean nobody is perfect but it would be nice to at least wear clothing your size/clothing at all. And no, bikini tops do not strike me as appropriate in a shopping centre

What you don't understand is these fellows getting about in the cockney heatwave sans-shirts have liberally applied Lynx to their torsos. So if you'd just get a little closer, and appreciate the seductive aroma of this modern day Spanish-fly, you'd get the point.

WingedVictory · 23/05/2010 22:08

blackfly, what a fantastic child! (How old is he? Mine's 2, but from the syntax you describe, yours is older?) It's so good to hear truth being spoken like that!

blackflyinyourchardonnay · 23/05/2010 21:36

( He's not encouraged to though, I don't approve of him saying it or anything!)

blackflyinyourchardonnay · 23/05/2010 21:32

YANBU. I don't want to see nakedness in the street. Don't even like to see my own nakedness (but those are my ishoos!)

Yesterday I was stuck in a queue behind a stinky man with no top on and a hairy, hairy back. Wet hairy back.

Put a top on!

WingedVictory our DS's could join forces. Mine says "Boobies! I can see your Boobies!" "Shake your boobies!" whenever he sees nipple (man, woman, child, no discrimination here!)

WingedVictory · 23/05/2010 21:15

Oh, people should definitely get dressed properly!

However, I am developing a weapon against this sort of thing and will be happy to roll it out as a mass weapon soon: when DS sees a man with no shirt on, he shouts, "Man NAKID!" and repeats as often he can before we move out of sight.

Anyone want to borrow DS?

mayorquimby · 23/05/2010 14:41

"Not to mention the ruddy red faces, or the whaley torsos,"
"What makes me laugh most is their utter confidence in their "looks", god, puke"

Do you honestly think there are more men who suffer from these problems and delusions than women?

ruckyrunt · 23/05/2010 14:02

I don't really like seeing yeards of flesh bulging all over the place with a wibble wobble - but I doubt things will change and people are just getting more and more wibbley

but it is my perogative not to like it

nappyaddict · 23/05/2010 13:50

Topless blokes and women in bikini tops really doesn't bother me as long as it's not in an indoor shopping centre, pub, restaurant or cafe. I was a bit when at the restaurant I work in a girl of about 9 came into my work wearing just a bikini though.

AngelsOnHigh · 23/05/2010 10:20

On the subject though. Jelly bellies on men or woman always seem to be covered with shirts 3 sizes smaller than they should be.

A large well groomed man or woman with clothes that fit looks just as nice as the smaller men and women.

AngelsOnHigh · 23/05/2010 10:17

Bit off the topic arsesandoldlace but I was having lunch in upmarket restaurant yesterday with my mum.

Table next to us had 4 people, one a mum with five week old baby. (Heard her tell the waiter).

Noticed she was BF baby with blanket discreetly over her.

Dear mum started muttering how irresponsible the mum was with her clothing all over the place.

Rather surprised as mum is very tolerant re most things.

I stated that the mum did have a blanket over her.

Mum replied "I'm not talking about her feeding the baby, I'm talking about how you can see most of her back and stomach. She's going to end up with a cold. Everyone knows that when a woman has a baby she has to be particularly careful for at least 6 months so that she doesn't end up sick or with a cold herself"

Snorbs · 23/05/2010 09:45

So what you're saying is that these people should dress so as to conform to your ideas of what is suitable. Do you have any other despotic tendencies?

arsesandoldlace · 23/05/2010 09:43

I don't care if a guy looks like Brad Pitt, tops should stay on. It's tacky and dare I say, common to walk around topless.

Until women can breastfeed openly with no ignorant comments made, then men should have to display the same modesty.

overmydeadbody · 23/05/2010 09:35

IT is horrible.

And they are always a certain 'type'.
