Yummy mummy is more annoying IMO

mummy tummy would be highly annoying if you are a mum with flat abs I imagine, are you one of these supreme beings?

i wouldtn blame my gut on kids
its greed on the whole innit

harpsichordcarrier · 22/05/2010 13:14

yes I agree
I don't blame my figure on the children
I put it down to Pringles and lolling about

MaisietheMorningsideCat · 22/05/2010 13:18

No - doesn't bother me on bit

Women in their 40s who have had 3 kids and who work with long commute (ie like me) and who still have the time to go to the gym 57 times a week and who have flat stomachs and who trill "you just have to fit exercise around your lifestyle" bug me far more.

Bobbalina · 22/05/2010 13:44

Pregnancy tends to ruin the female body imo

Jamieandhismagictorch · 22/05/2010 14:35

Well I've got one and it's not for lack of exercise or poor diet. It's stretched skin

mangoandlime · 22/05/2010 14:48

That's what mine is though.

marcsalmond · 22/05/2010 14:50

but once it's stretched it doesn't ever go back to what it was so it is caused by kids surely

no mummy tummy is not loose skin, its that pouch you get under your waistline

which imo is mostly due to lack of exercise/not toning your stomach muscles back up

Morloth · 22/05/2010 14:54

Owner of a mummy tummy here. Nothing else describes it quite so effectively.

I work out stacks and it isn't fat, just loose skin from being streeeeeeeeeeetched.

BlameItOnTheBogey · 22/05/2010 14:55

Yes I agree with Jamie. Mummy tummy isn't fat. I am skinny but I have a sad empty pouch of skin on my tummy which stretched to accommodate my babies. Since it is stretched skin and not fat, no amount of exercise will shift it. Mummy tummy describes it perfectly.

sherby · 22/05/2010 14:55

most women have that puckered skin around the belly button though after kids, flat stomach or not

and yes I hate yummy mummy its like a pat on the head for having kids and shock horror, not looking like shit

Morloth · 22/05/2010 14:57

You can be a yummy mummy and have a mummy tummy you know.

God that was a fun sentence.

Wanderingsheep · 22/05/2010 15:06

I have a Mummy Tummy too! That's the only way I can describe it. I'm slim (in fact slimmer than I was pre DD) but I have the empty pouch of stretched skin. If I lost anymore weight it would probably just look even baggier.

NorbertDentressangle · 22/05/2010 15:10

YANBU

I've adopted an expression I heard used by the comedienne Sarah Millican -rather than muffin top I call it my cake-shelf

bobbiewickham · 22/05/2010 15:11

I have a mummy tummy.

There's a pouchy overhang over my c-section scar, stretchmarks and general wonkiness.

I'm such a catch.

Doodleydoo · 22/05/2010 15:14

I have an apron thank you very much! But it was definitely caused by someone small and her method of delivery - no amount of ab crunching is going to change it, only surgery I have been reliably informed

aka wine waist.

fluffles · 22/05/2010 16:07

to me the term 'mummy tummy' means exactly and only the effects of pregnancy. so not middle age spread or unexercised abs or extra fat.

some 'mummies' are lucky and don't get it. but some do no matter how slim or fit they are.
