AIBU to hate people who pronounce Chile "Chil-AY" and Kenya "KEEENyar"

you know, I just don't care if it's right it just sounds dreadful and a great trumpeting of Arse.

I hadn't realised that this was an old thread.

Ipanema, I say "chilly" (wrong, techinically, I guess) and Kenya (as do my Kenyan family & friends). Never "Keeeeenya".

I also say cho-ree-tho - "cho-ri-tso" sets my teeth on edge - it's Spanish, so why do people pronounce it as a double z in Italian? "Cho-ree-zo" is acceptable - at least it makes some kind of sense.
