... that the tories / lib-dems only care about themselves and have a 'as long as I'm alright jack' attitude,..

yet. all the people complaining about it are the ones who are worried THEIR benefits will be cut (and two that I know shouldn't be on benefits in hte first place as they are both on JSA and patently not looking for work )

But, these self same people don't give a jack about the people paying more tax to keep them in benefits.

Double standards, IMHO.

And, yes, I'm prepared to be crucified.

thesecondcoming- WTF has my literacy got to to with the local jeremy kyle family stealing decent hard working peoples taxes?
And I did not grass, I REPORTED her to the benefit fraud hotline because she was STEALING tax payers money. And no, it wouldn't have made a jot of difference if her asbo yob brats had the same dad, I still would have reported her because she was STEALING tax payers money, that she had no right to claim, as she was not a single parent, she had a live-in boyfriend!

The notion that a labour governmenet cared about the elderly is laugable. I've worked in healthcare for nearly as long as labour were in power and could recount tale after tale of elderly people languishing in a corner in hospital beds becasue of cuts and lack of funding for long term nursing and social care, elderly people admitted to hospital malnorished and dehydrated, cold and confused and dying alone because in the 'caring' labour society NO ONE gave a shit - there wasno where for them to be cared for, no funding for beds and no expectation that they should be looked after.

Just wondering, when people go on about people on benefits having big TVs and all the latest stuff do they never think they might use Bright House or similar? As far as I'm aware you can use these companies if on benefits.
Also private lenders, can only think of local companies so not much good at giving examples, these I know for a fact you can lend from if your on benefits.

Harimo · 15/05/2010 20:56

I don't give two hoots about the size of anyone's TV.

I don't rate my quality of life by the size of my TV. I also don't care much how many kids you have or by how many different men.

my point was, and is, that those moaning most about the Tories are the ones that may lose benefits (or fear they may lose benefits) and it's really not that much about the greater good but more about self preservation. And that those people don't really think (or care) where the money comes from to paid their benefits as long as they get it.

And, to second someone else's comment: I agree, wholeheartedly, that there should not be across-the-board benefits such as health in pregnancy or child support.

No I don't think Fraud is acceptable.nor do I think you are childminduing illegally, I am just pointing out that a person not knowing your circumstances might think you were and report you. Obviously if the person you reported had been committing fraud, something would have been done about it! Often people who report others are driven by a vindictivenature rather than a wish for jusice and are not in possession of all the facts. I stand by my original post.

sunshinenanny · 16/05/2010 15:52

todlerama and thesecondcoming; glad to see there are others who don't take gleeful pleasure in the downfall of others.

IveStillGotit, is it really the fault of this womans children that they have different fathers and a mother (who in your opinion doesn't deserve any compassion) that you refere to them as yob brats.

I hope this woman learns from her mistakes and turns her life around so she can laugh at
you

Oops didn't mean to post that twice

IveStillGotIt · 16/05/2010 21:33

sunshinenanny- Why on earth does the BENEFIT THIEF that I reported deserve compassion? she was a THIEF, STEALING from hard working tax payers, and her kids ARE asbo yob brats, they charge around the streets at all hours, bullying younger kids, stealing from local shops and they also terrorise elderly folk who live round here.
And as for learning from her mistakes and turning her life around, pfff, she still struts about the area like queen bee (except she's walking in the pissing rain now, thanks to me reporting her!).
And as for laughing at me, theres nothing that she could laugh at me for, well apart from my spelling! (just thought I would say it, before any of you spelling nit pickers mention it!!!)

To obsess on this point further -

I asked the benefits adviser at the council if a british seaside holiday and a tuble dryer are declarable as income if they were a present from your father or your christmas and birthday.

She looked at me oddly, and said "No, because it's not income is it? You can't rely on being given a tumble dryer every week, or a caravan to rent out to collect the rent from. Oh please don't worry about things like that, I've been doing this job for over 15 years - we are looking for people whose grandma gives them £200 a week, that sort of thing - I've know it happen!"

TinyApeInBigPants · 19/05/2010 08:48

Colditz, I am really pleased you did this.

It allows me to say 'Ner ner ner ner ner' to some others on the thread

And yes, I am a child at times.

My dh gets dla/ incapacity for his bipolar which was diagnosed 4 years ago and he hasn't worked since. He probably could with a very supportive employer as on a good day he is very productive and capable but he is unpredictable and in the current job market there are other better potential employees around. The longer the gap in his cv the harder it seems to get. We could potentially survive without the money - I would just have to work more. But it would be great if dh was helped into work. Can't see the Tories following up their rhetoric about anyone who can work being heled into work though in our case. It would be great for dh if they did but it's just a soundbite.
