proud of me. i just voted (and no i didnt spoil my paper).

i just wanted to ask you knowledgable mumsnetter's about the ballot papers. Was it right that i just got one paper with local mp's names. Does the party i voted also count for a vote for the leadership of the country IYKWIM.

i think i just confused myself

yes thats right
well done for doing it

OrmRenewed · 06/05/2010 21:52

Hurrah! Good for you.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 06/05/2010 21:53

You vote for your local MP, then the party who wins the in the most constituencies wins overall (more or less!) so yes, your paper was ok!

Well done for voting!!

McDreamy · 06/05/2010 21:56

Well done Tiredmumo1

Yes it was right that you just got the one paper. You just voted for your local MP. If he/she gets the local seat then that seat goes towards the party that will lead the country.

There are 650 seats.

Tiredmumno1 · 06/05/2010 22:07

Phew, thanks for replying.

I was worried they forgot to give me another paper.

Thought they were gonna pinch my vote

Well done tiredmummy

Eh, I got two bits of paper too

McDreamy · 06/05/2010 22:19

Some areas had local council elections too, that's why you two

chitchat07 · 06/05/2010 22:20

I think some councils were also having an election.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 06/05/2010 22:21

We had two here. Ones for local elections the other was the general. To make it super easy for people like me they made one white and one yellow.

thatsnotmymonkey · 06/05/2010 22:22

yes some local councils are having a local election too.

GhostInTheBackOfYourHead · 06/05/2010 22:23

I had three and a hyperactive two year old to supervise

one extra for referendum on mayor

SwissMonsterRavingCheesyParty · 06/05/2010 22:24

Still

AnyFucker · 06/05/2010 22:25

I got a telephone call at 9:15pm form my local Labour councillor.

She asked me had I voted already, and if I hadn't, did I want a lift down to the polling station ?

Personal service! I wonder if she would have chucked me out of the car if I said I wasn't voting for her ?

Blimey !

SwissMonsterRavingCheesyParty · 06/05/2010 22:28

And have been at getting a phonecall off a stranger at that time.

Good tactic tho

Tiredmumno1 · 06/05/2010 22:36

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 06/05/2010 22:41

I got a phone call too at 8pm asking if I'd voted and if not did I need assistance to get there!

When I said I'd voted they asked if it was for them and sounded very when I replied, "no" as they were apparantly counting on my vote as I was on their records as one of their supporters!!

I asked them to ammend their records!!

Tiredmumno1 · 06/05/2010 22:44

who did you all vote for?

(only if you want to say that is ).
