to be disappointed that we didn't get one single political campaigner knocking on our door?

We had lots of leaflets through, and a letter from the labour party addressed to me by name but not one single person knocked on the door.

Hardly makes for good canvasing does it?

I've been wishing for BNP so I could utter "gettifer you bassa" in style of Billy Connolly.

No one will come to us, we have a political placard outside.

Molesworth · 05/05/2010 17:40

Me neither wannabe, not a single knock on my door. We didn't get many leaflets either. In fact, I walked all around my neighbourhood today looking for posters, canvassers etc: spotted sum total of two posters!

belly36 · 05/05/2010 17:41

We didn't get anyone either. I was kind of looking forward to telling them they were too late as I already voted via post for the other party...

paddingtonbear1 · 05/05/2010 17:42

I didn't see any, but they might have come while I was out. I still haven't finally decided who to vote for, so if they had knocked on the door I would have been quite interested to hear what they had to say!

M32song · 05/05/2010 17:42

me neither.. a friend on the 'posh' side of our constituency had the Conservative fella round three times but he didn't show his face down here in the badlands I was well up for a scrap lively discussion, too..

LibDems sent three leaflets, all addressed to DP

Gordonsavingexpertdotcom · 05/05/2010 17:45

We had one LibDem round because he's standing for re-election to the council tomorrow. I told him I wouldn't vote for him but my DH probably would (omitting to say "because he's a big soft wet liberal namby pamby, rather like yourself").
I think our labour candidate is being very short-sighted by not coming round because he had a big majority last time. Mind you the Tory hasn't been round either, but I don't think his mum lets him out at night (he looks about 12 on the leaflets - looks like David Cameron is shaking hands with a small boy in the photos).

TottWriter · 05/05/2010 17:45

We haven't had anyone either. Mind you, this is one of the safest seats in the country. Maybe the thought of trying to convert die-hard conservatives was too daunting.

ABatInBunkFive · 05/05/2010 17:47

We've had no one either and a grand total of 3 leaflets, we are in a marginal seat so you'd think they'd make the effort.

Tempted to spoil my vote saying i abstain as you all are lazy feckers!

Firawla · 05/05/2010 17:49

yanbu
i got one round (a councillor) and was happy to see someone came, & he will get my vote for that too. i would have voted for lib dem in council, but i will now be voting 2 lib dems, and that 1 guy for labour -so it can pay off for them. it shows they care more if they come round and talk rather than just soo many leaflets. shame more didnt come though so could ask questions of both

Caoimhe · 05/05/2010 17:50

We've had no-one around and only a couple of leaflets. We have the local election and the general election - I don't even know who is standing in the local election as I've had absolutely nothing about it through the door!!!

Prinnie · 05/05/2010 17:51

YANBU - I've not had anyone around either. TBH I've been waiting for Peter Mandleson so I could show him the bottle of champagne I've got on ice for when he dies. He is pretty much the only person in the world who I could say that about.

Wordsonascreen · 05/05/2010 17:53

We had Tory boy (he doesn'nt mention he's a Sir in his leaflets) knock on the door surrounded by about 20 flunkeys.

I was on the phone at the time (to my bank trying to arange a remortgage there was no way I was going to hang up but answered the door on reflex) so waved vaguely pantominng on the phone, he gurned and there was an awkward pause.

About 3 flunkeys tried to give me a leaflet (bearing in mind I had one hand free) One of them knocking over a plant pot spilling compost.

DS got them a dustpan and brush and they cleared it up and then ran for their lives.

PositiveAttitude · 05/05/2010 17:53

I vowed that the one who knocked on my door would get my vote! I had questions ready as a tie breaker in case all 9 candidates ran to the door ....... not 1!!!!

Now, I will vote because I feel very strongly about the right to vote, but really am still undecided. Only 24 hours to decide now!!

ProfYaffle · 05/05/2010 17:55

I've never been canvassed in the whole of my 38 years. I used to live in a Labour stronghold then moved to a Tory one.

This time round have had 3 lacklustre leaflets through the door, not seen hide nor hair of our Gammon faced Tory MP (as another Mner described him)

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 05/05/2010 17:57

We haven't had any but I think that might be due to a mad brown dog who sits in the window and goes suitably mad when the door goes.

ABatInBunkFive · 05/05/2010 17:58

TBH they don't seem to have made much of an effort at all.

There has been a smail piece in the local rag for a couple of weeks where they spout some gumf but that's it, no idea what they've been spending their time doing.

Kathyjelly · 05/05/2010 18:01

YANBU

This is a Labour seat at risk. We had the Tory man round but no-one from Labour. It makes it hard to compare them as constituency MPs. Especially as I think the Labour man has been quite good.

undercovamutha · 05/05/2010 18:04

We had leaflets from Tories, Labour, Lib Dems and BNP. Plus the only 'door-knocker' we had was a lady from Plaid Cymru. She called at 6.30pm, when all was bedlam at bathtime. She looked totally embarrassed when I answered the door looking suitably traumatised, to the noise of 2 screaming children and a ranting DH !

She just thrust the leaflet at me, apologised for disturbing me, and hurried off, bless her! It does tempt me to vote for Plaid, seeing as none of the other parties bothered to get off their arses!

Marne · 05/05/2010 18:04

I was geared up for a visit from our coservative leader (after being told he would be door knocking), as i got home on sat he was just finishing door knocking at the end of the road (so we missed him) .

hmmSleep · 05/05/2010 18:07

I had one yesterday, he asked if I was going to vote conservative, I said no, and he went away . Not sure what he was here for really.

LadyPeterWimsey · 05/05/2010 18:09

YANBU - we are a very tight marginal, loads of stuff through the door, but not one little knock.

TeaOneSugar · 05/05/2010 18:13

Only the labour candidate has been near, I'm still disappointed that I was out, DH agreed to have a sign up, so I suppose the others aren't likely to bother knocking after that.

We've also had loads of letter and leaflets from our labour candidate, all addressed to me. Nothing from the others.

NoahAndTheWhale · 05/05/2010 18:13

We are in a very safe tory seat and have had no canvassing. Both DH and I have had separate, individually addressed leaflets from them.

Lib Dems did send DH a leaflet but sadly had not notice that there have been boundary changes, so sent it about the wrong candidate .

UKIP was going around the village a couple of days ago and parked his car so it was very hard to squeeze past it without scratching it. Sadly I managed.

KeeptheRedFennelFlying · 05/05/2010 18:15

I'm disappointed, we are in a key marginal and I was hoping to be wooed assiduously, so I could explain my politics at length to a captive audience. But noone came.

SanctiMoanyArse · 05/05/2010 18:16
