To think that Nick Griffin is misunderstood and actually a nice chap?

I heard him being interviewed this morning on the Today programme.

Firstly, it turns out he's not racist or against immigration! Apparently, he says it's ok for French people to come here (there's not that many that want to so its ok). AND he says that Irish people can come here too because they're really all British! So that's nice. I was a bit confused because I thought they'd spent all those years bombing us because they didn't want to be British but I guess I've got that all wrong.

He's not going to let Algerian asylum seekers come though, but I don't think it matters because they'll just get killed where they are in their own country so that won't be a problem for them much longer.

And the best thing is... he's going to give £50,000 to anyone who's not "pure British" to leave the country and go back to where they came from! How cool is that! So I'm now deciding whether to go back to my Great-Grandmother's origins in Russia, or my Great Grandfather's in Finland. Now, apparently this money is going to come from what he called stupid anti-Climate Change projects so although much of Russia and pretty much all of Finland is a bit chilly, as the climate changes because they money is being spent on me, they'll get warmer and I'll be all toasty!

Brilliant!

yes, thanks.i agree i do see the disconnect the scapegoating. demonisation and vilification of others as cause.rather than appropriately blaming structural and economic factors which all affect lower income households

ImSoNotTelling · 30/04/2010 13:28

smallorange I thought that was the reason as well but barking and dagenham (where the BNP have all those councillors) have a lower proportion of ethnic minorities than other boroughs. I read that yesterday and it made me a bit

ImSoNotTelling · 30/04/2010 13:31

It's usually to do with poverty isn't it, this springing up of hatred for other sorts of people.

When everyone is better off they seem to rub along rather better.

i guess NG and his crew will be rubbing their hands with glee at this recession actually, as it really starts to bite they will probably see their support increase.

daftpunk · 30/04/2010 13:32

Of course the BNP will never run the country, the Liberals will never run the country and they're massive..!

I just want a few BNP MP's in parliament....they will get more publicity for one thing, & they won't let the loony left get away with so much...we need that balance. We need a few far right politicians, it's good for democracy, & If you actually read the BNP policies they make perfect sense..

Why should't I have politicians in parliament who represent me and people like me....why am I not important..?

scottishmummy · 30/04/2010 13:33

in a liberal democracy you can vote for whom you wish dp.and conversely i can express my revulsion at nick griffin and bnp

ImSoNotTelling · 30/04/2010 13:35

But you have said yourself that you disagree with at least one of their policies DP, and quite a major one at that.

That's teh bit i don't get.

i couldn't vote for a party if I abhored one of their policies, even if everything else was exactly what I thought.

daftpunk · 30/04/2010 13:38

Of course you can SM...and I would respect your views...I would never think your views were less important than mine....I would just argue with you....in an adult way.

daftpunk · 30/04/2010 13:40

Who do you know who agrees with every single word of every single Labour policy..?

You vote for a party on a few core issues....most people do anyway.

scottishmummy · 30/04/2010 13:42

i do hope people use their vote.direct chance to chose candidates and and state opinions

Tawny75 · 30/04/2010 13:46

This isn't fair I have no foreign in me at all, my family have moved 3 miles in 400 years so I can't bugger off!

I am a single mum who works so like the poster earlier I will be running from the pitchforks.

How anyone can take this ignorant little man seriously is beyond me. We have one of his daft bints standing in our constituency this time, not that it matters, John Bercow will get reelected as we have no Lab, Lib or Con candidate!

smallorange · 30/04/2010 13:47

Oh yes indeed - bnp support is lower
in areas with settled multicultural
populations. Which gives you hope, doesn't it.

But where I was describing - very similar to barking and Dagenham, these typically white working class populations see themselves under threat from outsiders. They see multicultural communities twoinutes up yhe road as a threat.

Ach, it's such a complex thing, starting to sound like a twat.

Most people vote for the Bnp because they're a racist bastard.

daftpunk · 30/04/2010 13:53

Rubbish...people who call BNP voters racist bastards are Liberal fascists with their own agenda.

Molesworth · 30/04/2010 13:54

Anyone else listening to Nick Griffin doing the election phone-in on Radio 4 right now?

daftpunk · 30/04/2010 13:56

He's just finished on R2

scottishmummy · 30/04/2010 13:59

liberal and facist is an oxymoron.its cliché time dp.ah the liberal intelligensia all dissing dat man nice mr g

have a fuckin word wi yourself - is that the best you can come up with

daftpunk · 30/04/2010 14:02

I've already had 2 posts deleted today...it's the best I'm coming up with atm....

scottishmummy · 30/04/2010 14:06

now come on.you must have some ideological inclination.a preference that lead you to bnp.cant be so hard to explain, surely

just dont trot out the media conspiracy line.its lame and untrue

daftpunk · 30/04/2010 14:12

Scotland wants independence from England....they would quite happily tell us to poke it...

The BNP want to help it's own people....they're are not interested in helping Albanian farmers.....and I don't blame them..

smallorange · 30/04/2010 14:20

Liberal fascist it is
then. It is a term that means nothing.

scottishmummy · 30/04/2010 14:20

bnp have all fallen out in scotland rendering the BNP unable to get the 12 candidates needed to gain the valuable TV exposure by way of election broadcasts...scotland has no bnp councillors and the few bnp candidates there are have all fallen out

noddyholder · 30/04/2010 14:21

i am glad you are in love with NG!Lets hope he's in love with you too as he will send your dh home if he gets his way so you will be on the lookout for Mr daftpunk 2nd.

scottishmummy · 30/04/2010 14:22

why will he send dp home?dp would NG class you as forrin?

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 30/04/2010 14:25

DP is catholic, so not 'white british' according to bnp.
I believe her dh is mixed race? so obv the bnp not big fans of that either

daftpunk · 30/04/2010 14:25

Nope...NG would not class me as forrin...I is from Ireland....parents are anyway..

scottishmummy · 30/04/2010 14:28

republic or NI,dp.as eire isnt uk as you know
