To think that Nick Griffin is misunderstood and actually a nice chap?

I heard him being interviewed this morning on the Today programme.

Firstly, it turns out he's not racist or against immigration! Apparently, he says it's ok for French people to come here (there's not that many that want to so its ok). AND he says that Irish people can come here too because they're really all British! So that's nice. I was a bit confused because I thought they'd spent all those years bombing us because they didn't want to be British but I guess I've got that all wrong.

He's not going to let Algerian asylum seekers come though, but I don't think it matters because they'll just get killed where they are in their own country so that won't be a problem for them much longer.

And the best thing is... he's going to give £50,000 to anyone who's not "pure British" to leave the country and go back to where they came from! How cool is that! So I'm now deciding whether to go back to my Great-Grandmother's origins in Russia, or my Great Grandfather's in Finland. Now, apparently this money is going to come from what he called stupid anti-Climate Change projects so although much of Russia and pretty much all of Finland is a bit chilly, as the climate changes because they money is being spent on me, they'll get warmer and I'll be all toasty!

Brilliant!

babybarrister;

I was replying to someone who seems to think the BNP are some sort of political joke (similar to the MRLP)...I was just pointing out that the BNP have 2 European seats (Andrew Brons & Nick Griffin), therefore they are "in Europe". They are also in control of various councils.

I was educating her.

StrictlyKatty · 30/04/2010 09:48

Lulumama I read a diary of someone in a concentration camp (their name is unknown) at the Holocaust museam in Berlin. It was written in German, Yiddish, Hebrew and French and made me cry out loud He asked what he could have done to have made people want him to die this way. It was heartbreaking.

I cannot understand why people would ever dream of saying it didn't take place. Why do so many Jews have numbers tattooed on their arms? Where did Anne Frank go? Why are there so many photos of huge piles of shoes, gold teeth and even human hair? The questions are endless. People who deny the Holocaust are the lowest type of people possible, to deny something so obvious they may as well deny the existence of Sweden... just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it doesn't exist

scottishmummy · 30/04/2010 09:52

holocaust denier can never be a nice chap. just because he has modulated tones and wears suit doesnt make him any less of an odious weasel

ChazsBarmyArmy · 30/04/2010 10:00

DP - which councils do they control? I am not aware of any.

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 30/04/2010 10:06

Chaz - they have 12 councillors in Barking and Dagenham, and need 14 to to gain control. Perhaps in BNP-bullshit-world, that is 'running the council'?

"most people can differentiate shite form fact" That's a remarkably generous and optimistic comment, SM, given some posters on here...

scottishmummy · 30/04/2010 10:08

bnp control no councils.hold 12 seats in barking & dagenham and would need 14 more to take control of the council, but eight of the wards it is contesting are Labour strongholds.and they havent mustered enough candidates - only fielding 34 for 51 wards

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 30/04/2010 10:10

(were you reading the Indie this morning as well? )

scottishmummy · 30/04/2010 10:11

well given bnp deny holocaust dont suppose they can count that 12 seats doesnt= running the barking & dagenham council.maybe they dont hold with this fangled truth telling thang

scottishmummy · 30/04/2010 10:14

aha yes remarkably similar posts THoS!but im sure for the hard of thinking bnp that equates to running the council

this is exactly why we should let them mither on in interview and press.get the measure of their daftness

ChazsBarmyArmy · 30/04/2010 10:17

You see I am picky about things and believe that being "in control of various councils" means being in control of various councils not being the second largest party on one council.

However, the BNP don't need to listen to me because I married a immigrant, who is also a muslim oh yes... and I am a woman ...err and a mum who works outside the home.

They'll be after me with pitchforks next

Tortington · 30/04/2010 10:20

im voting for the BNP cos they will have to send the royal family backto where they came from

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 30/04/2010 10:27

Yeah, cause Prince Philip is Greek , the rest of the family are 'second and third generation immigrants',and eligible for the boot, right?

Got to admit, that's pretty cool.

noddyholder · 30/04/2010 10:27

Morning custy! Was just thinking of you weird prob cause I am glugging rocket fuel strength coffee.Anyway i would like to go somewhere with my 50k but don't like where I came from is it ok to pick somewhere random?

lowenergylightbulb · 30/04/2010 10:32

DP - use the pwoer of google and have a look at the pictures of Griffin on NF marches wearing his fetching 'white power' t-shirt. Find out about his links with white supremacist groups in the US. The guy who runs the BNP website is a white supremacist. And then factor in the holocaust denial.

Griffin, and the BNP are not a joking matter, they are evil. Evil.

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 30/04/2010 10:37

lowenergylightbulb, we have tried this before - she genuinely doesn't care about the NF marches, the holocaust denial, the racism, the anti-Catholicism, etc etc...

Tortington · 30/04/2010 10:38

morning nodders,

where is it you come from?

iam mongrel. but 4th generation so i am more british than the queen

scottishmummy · 30/04/2010 10:43

shifted by cogent arguments at all.in fact more likely to intensify them and us type feelings.allowing a flawed cognitive explanation eg media misinterpret, misconstrue bnp.in fact bnp are the underdogs against a media/political machine run by liberal weedies

id love to understand what fuels such denial and affinity to far right holocaust deniers

noddyholder · 30/04/2010 10:44

I came from northern ireland so think I'm ok as am white as you get when I'm not st tropez'd.I always knew you were blue blood really

scottishmummy · 30/04/2010 10:44

denial is a powerful defence mechanism not easily shifted by cogent arguments at all.in fact more likely to intensify them and us type feelings.allowing a flawed cognitive explanation eg media misinterpret, misconstrue bnp.in fact bnp are the underdogs against a media/political machine run by liberal weedies

id love to understand what fuels such denial and affinity to far right holocaust deniers

daftpunk · 30/04/2010 12:52

SM;

NG has expained the holocaust comment 1000's of times....why do people keep bringing up things he said 20 yrs ago....?

I am in love with NG......and I don't care who knows it....

ilovemydogandmrobama · 30/04/2010 12:59

Guess because the holocaust kind of wiped out a whole bunch of people. Genocide and all that.

scottishmummy · 30/04/2010 13:05

griffin received 9mth sentence suspended for 2years for breaching section 19 of the Public Order Act 1986.he's a common convicted crim

dp,why do you seek to be evasive about his holocaust denial.a cursory google search and the evidence is there.unless of course its all a big conspiracy

look DP some things said 20 years ago are inane, juvenile best forgotten social gaffes - BUT HOLOCAUST DENIAL ISNT BEST FORGOTTEN. GIVES ME A MEASURE OF THE ODIOUS MAN

and his attempts to polish a turd and sanitise the bnp are always undermined by the NF t-shirt, the holocaust denial

smallorange · 30/04/2010 13:09

Scottishmummy - reasons for supporting far right ideology? I don't think many supporters even think that far along the line - they do not see holocaust denial as important. Promises to get them higher up
the housing ladder sre far more important.

I grew up
in South east London, where there is more sympathy with BNP 'policies,' than other parts of London. Historically these are tight working class communities with large families generally housed next door to each other. There is a fear of outsiders.'

daftpunk put her finger on it when talking about how these people feel marginalised in terms of access to housing and jobs.

I guess it's these working class populations who have had to adapt extremely quickly to immigration. I remember the Vietnamese boat people, Somalians, and Kosovans arriving. It's easy for the BNP to make political capital out of it. Hint that it's the foreign family down the road preventing you from getting out of your damp flat, stopping you getting a job etc. That nice msn in a suit whose father fought in the second world war (don't mention the Gurkhas) will help you recall s time when you could leave your door unlocked, blah de blah.

The fact is we need immigration- look at the disquiet The City and higher education is showing at the major parties plans to make it harder to get into
Britain.

daftpunk · 30/04/2010 13:13

He has said some stupid things...even he admits that, but I agree with him over so much. He isn't thick, he isn't trying to cover up his real intentions...he is honest about his vision for the future.

I hate what Labour have done to this country...I don't want to live the way they want me to, the BNP are the only party who speak to me...

I understand them.

pigletmania · 30/04/2010 13:16

DP I did not mean it like that, I meant that just as much I would nto vote MRLP or other parties, I would not vote BNP as I do not agree with their policies. Seriously what chance have they got getting in power by the way.
