To think that Victoria Beckham is a bit of a national treasure?

I like her.

She works hard, has raised 3 sons and seems to do so well, was successful in one career (no matter what we may think of the Spice Girls), is supportive of her husband yet has been successful in starting another career.

I love the design of her dresses.

I think she is a good egg. God knows why she inspires such vitriol.

live and let live but please not a nationla treasure

traceybath · 26/04/2010 19:51

I like her.

I think the reason she's not liked in Britain is because she obviously tries hard. She 'networks' etc/promotes herself and people don't like that.

I like her dresses too oh and her DH . If he didn't speak that is.

SirBoobAlot · 26/04/2010 19:51

I hate the image she puts across to the young females - that its is okay to starve yourself, as long as you look good. It is people like this that we are now told to worship. No wonder eating disorders are on the rise.

traceybath · 26/04/2010 19:54

I don't think she's ever promoted starving herself.

But she does say she has to be self-disciplined to maintain her figure.

But most celebs are very slim and they were always so - did you see how tiny Grace Kelly's clothes were?

EricPicklesFatNeck · 26/04/2010 19:54

i think i predicted her national treasure status about a year ago. she needs one more presonal tragedy and possibly a couple of comedy cameos in a trendy tv show to fully achieve this status

violethill · 26/04/2010 19:54

I am raising 3 children, I have a successful career, and I support my husband in his successful career.

Only differences are: we're doing it without the multi millionaire's income.

Does that make me a national treasure

What a load of garbage!

DeborahDevonshire · 26/04/2010 19:57

All she needs to do is go on Celeb Apprentice and be self deprecating, and then climb a mountain for charity.

Cheryl Cole was just a chavvy wag who had a conviction for violence before she did this - after that nat treasure status.

She will have to be careful re comedy cameos - remember when geri Halliwell appeared in an episode of Sex and the City

geri so crashed and burned on teh nt front. she was an ambassador for unicef ffs. if only she had aimed lower on the cameo front, she might have pulled off frasier

DeborahDevonshire · 26/04/2010 20:00

Violet - Ok perhaps national treasure is a step too far, but think she is to be commended for actually doing those things that most of us do do (work, raise kids, support husband) rather than some vacuous slebs who shop their arses off in cricket and appear in OK, or who marry chefs and then promote a ghostwritten cookbook without any actual cooking skills.

Just think VB has got a good work ethic and doesn't come across as a parasite like so many slebs nowadays.

She just tries too hard, and appears humourless. How CC became the nations favourite I'll never know.

VB has recently said her and JLo wear the same dress size

EricPicklesFatNeck · 26/04/2010 20:10

considering bruce forsyth and cilla black are national treasures i don't think it is a particularly admirable thing to be.

vb is vacuous and without any apparent moral compass. perfect

SirBoobAlot · 26/04/2010 20:11

"Posh Spice claims to eat a diet comprised primarily of lettuce, strawberries, and edamame soy beans." - from an article on healthmad.

I'm sorry, but if that isn't starvation, I don't know what is. She is a glorified anorexic, and I say this as someone who has suffered on and off with EDs for years. Instead of being praised for her "fantastic" figure, someone needs to get her to see a therapist and buy her a huge bowl of carbohydrates and chocolates. She is a walking skeleton, but because she is a celebrity its "okay"/

traceybath · 26/04/2010 20:15

I don't think VB comments a great deal on what she eats. The last interview I read with her in harpers/vogue or somesuch - she just said she was very self disciplined about what she ate.

But if I was photographed as much as her - I'd be very careful about what I ate too.

I think lots of people comment on what they think she eats. The press love to be mean to women for being too fat/thin/curvy whatever.

But yes, she is very slim - I wouldn't agree that she's a glorified anorexic though.

Sorry to hear about your EDs though and I do appreciate how it can be a touchy subject.

cocolepew · 26/04/2010 20:15

poshs arse

Jlos arse

Very similar I'm sure you'll agree.

EricPicklesFatNeck · 26/04/2010 20:17

whether or not she personally has an ed (and i personally think she does) her constant parading of her ghastly clavicles as somehow attractive adn aspiration is enough to launch a thousand eds.

traceybath · 26/04/2010 20:18

I think it was a very stretchy dress

MarionCole · 26/04/2010 20:18

Surely that's photoshopped coco

mangoandlime · 26/04/2010 20:18

I like Vicky B. She seems to have bit of a sense of humour about her. But a national treasure? Nah.

EricPicklesFatNeck · 26/04/2010 20:18

loving j-los arse, you could keep books on that

cocolepew · 26/04/2010 20:19

I thought that myself actually, but it did stuck out a mile in that film she did with George Clooney.

traceybath · 26/04/2010 20:19

That can not be real!

bibbitybobbityhat · 26/04/2010 20:20

I'm afraid I don't admire her in any way whatsoever. I think she has severe mental health issues and I feel very sorry for her. I would far rather be plain old me in my size 16 Next jeans, checking and cross checking to see if we can afford a 2 week holiday in Europe this year.

clam · 26/04/2010 20:22

"Posh's book on style?"
Was that the one with such gems in it as "don't eat beetroot when wearing white?"

bibbitybobbityhat · 26/04/2010 20:22

Rolf Harris is a national treasure.
