It's odd isn't it?
Meet Anna, Alan and Aliteration.
Why?

toccatanfudge Love your son's names.

My DSIS's kids both start with R and her dp is an R. She didn't notice until someone pointed it out to her. There is such a big age gap it doesn't present a problem, plus they all have different surnames.

An old friend called her twins Dave Shaun and Shaun Dave after her dp.

My kids all have a differnt initial and they are also different to mine and dp's. when no 4 is born we will pick a different initial again.

borderslass · 27/04/2010 08:40

I know one family who have 7 children and everyone of their names begins with a letter M.

RubyBuckleberry · 27/04/2010 08:47

yabu

we are all Js - didn't do it on purpose. just liked the names...

SunSoakedStone · 27/04/2010 09:06

i had same title/initial/surname as sis & initial/surname as mom, nightmare with bank statements!!

now have same title/initial/surname as MiL, and as she used to live here before me i keep opening the odd bit of post that still gets sent here...

and my DH's 1st & 2nd initial are MS, which i keep reading as the title Ms... so i open his post as well.

complex isnt it?

toccataandfudge=FAQ D'oh!!

I 'knew' you as FAQ and you seemed familiar the other day on your threads but I never connected the two....

Names:

Horrible names are the worst crime
Followed by people trying to be funny Teressa Green (yep I actually worked with a real live girl with this name, it's not just in kids joke books!!)
Next in line - David Davidson, Jamie Jamieson, Ben Benson
Closely followed by 'themes' (Jamie Oliver style!!)
Followed by illiteration
So, if you have avoided all of these and but use the same initial - as far as I'm concerned - you're forgiven

nickelbabe · 27/04/2010 14:07

Jamie Oliver's theme isn't too difficult for a boy, he could choose Rowan...

there are still loads of girls' names that are flowers, too.

my family tradition is to use the dad's first name as the son's middle name: my parents had 3 girls, so i'm making the tradition skip a generation. my favourite boy's name ever is James and that's DF's middle name: kind of reversing my family tradition in that way!
i wouldn't use his first name as a first name, though, that is very old fashioned.

Condensedmilkaddict · 27/04/2010 14:18

Before I was married my first and last names both started with D.

Very porn star

nickelbabe · 27/04/2010 16:18

only if your surname was a state and your middle name was "does"....

nickelbabe · 27/04/2010 16:19

having spent some time looking in my 1938 Bride's Book, i found at the back in the list of gifts received an Aunt Bertha and Uncle Bert!!

stripeyknickersspottysocks · 27/04/2010 16:20

I know a family where the mum, dad and all 3 kids have names beginning with J.

Downdog · 27/04/2010 16:55

My partner & I have the same initials (we're not married). You think it's no biggie & it isn't, but you have to find new shorthand for calenders etc or all each other Mummy/Daddy.

LC200 · 27/04/2010 17:02

My kid's names both begin with A. They were both the names we liked best, and they fitted. It seemed ridiculous not give them our favourite names just because they happened to begin with the same letter.

cyb · 27/04/2010 17:06

ours all ahve the same SOUND but not the same letter

but we call them Mary, Mungo and Midge which suits them far better

palacemonkey · 28/04/2010 09:40

MIL is a J is the eldest of five J's - her parents were J's, MIL married a J, had my DH (a J) who maaried me (a J). We have DS - an O thank god!!

To complicate it more, MIL, FIL and DH have the same initials too... including middle name. Poor BIL is the only one that doesn't... doesn't surprise me he's so odd, when he was left out of his own family tradition!

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/04/2010 09:49

its confusing when postie brings letters to miss a xxxxxx - esp on valentines day

always have different initals

BigWeeHag · 28/04/2010 10:37

My DD's name starts with A, DS1's is E, I was desperate to name ds2 Ianto (and then I could have had two more, maybe Olive and Ursula...) Thankfully I was talked out of it.

duchesse · 28/04/2010 10:39

Anyone mentioned the Duggar family yet?

cikecaka · 28/04/2010 10:58

Two of my children start with C, and the other 2 start with K. Wasnt a concious decision, just liked the names. Wouldnt change it now

kreecherlivesupstairs · 28/04/2010 11:19

My only criteria when naming our dd was she didn't have a family name (I'm called after my dad, grandad, great grandad, gg grandad....) nor a religious name. Very difficult to name children IMO, dh didn't care he was just so thrilled to be a dad, he's called after his uncle and understood my objections.

BritFish · 28/04/2010 11:38

i have the same first initial as my brother.
and the exact same initials as my dad!
not deliberate!

and oddly enough my brother and DP's brothers names were exactly the names i wanted for DS...

coralanne · 28/04/2010 11:55

My DD and I have the same initials.

Didn't do it deliberately. I really liked the name I gave her and it just happened to begin with the same letter as my first name.

She has the same second name as I have.

Louisa which is both my maternal and paternal grandmother's name and my DGD also has it for her second name.

Thought it a bit funny when DS arrived home with his girlfriend. Her name!!! Louisa.

Have a friend , Whole family have names starting with the letter R. Mum and Dad included.

gtamom · 30/04/2010 11:21

Someone from school married a fellow named Randy. Ran into them a few years later with their 3 daughter, Mandy, Candy and Brandy.

Her name did not rhyme with theirs.

jeee · 30/04/2010 11:27

My three DD all have names beginning with the same letter, simply because those were the names we liked. The letter they began with was, as far as we were concerned, irrelevant. I don't think we were being twee, or unimaginative.

jennymac · 30/04/2010 13:36

My DSIL is one of seven children and all their names begin with an S!

lazarusb · 30/04/2010 14:33

Two of my children have names beginning with A but the third doesn't, we just liked 2 names beginning with A!
