...to be having the time of my life at Centre Parks?

gobsmackedetal · 21/04/2010 21:09

or at least definitely the best time I have had since I've had children.

I had read a rundown of it here a few weeks before we were due to come and I was a bit nervous that the whole thing would be a terrible waste of money and time, but we all love it!

the children are constantly happy and entertained, which makes everyone else happy...

Food is very expensive and rubbish, but that was all expected so came prepared.
got to go now, the children are sleeping soundly after an exhausting day and my whirpool bath is calling my name ;-)

(btw, we're not rich, just a very cheap upgrade for term time, handy when you only have preschoolers)

So... will I be kicked off MN for loving CP?

I am a CP fan, enjoy!
Which one are you at?

Haha, we love it too, but I'm a teacher so have to pay ridiculous prices so only really enjoy it when I forget about the money lol. Basically, if the kids are happy, it is a good holiday; (and a couple of years ago we paid a fortune to stay at a popular 'family-friendly' hotel in Cornwall and it was awful, so there you go).

Ceebee74 · 21/04/2010 21:15

Thank you for sharing

We are going for a first CP holiday in a couple of weeks - and I also read that thread and wondered if we had made a mistake in booking it.

However, I am keeping an open mind and am sure my DS's will both love it and have accepted that our hols just aren't going to be the same for quite a few years

Enjoy the rest of your stay!!

DiamondsRaGirlsBestfriend · 21/04/2010 21:15

NO YANBU

OK so it's probably not the holiday you would chose for yourself but we went for the first time last year and the DDs had a fantastic time. Just going to "our little house" they were so excited, they loved putting their wellies on and going out the back exploring.

Them being so happy and excited made me happy.

DD1 wants to move to CPs

Rockbird · 21/04/2010 21:23

CP fan here too. Glad you're having a lovely time. Am very

Fimbo · 21/04/2010 21:25

We came back on Friday from one of the CP's in Holland and had the time of our life. Best family holiday ever. Dh was always of the mind frame that it's "Butlins for the posh". Even he was surprised and enjoyed it. My ds was crying when we had to leave. We have offered the dc the choice of going to Disneyland Paris or CP next year. Guess what they chose? . I am pleased too as no more god awful queues to stand in. Yay!!

Enjoy! I only live 1/2hr from Elveden and people from my village often go for the weekend out of season as it is cheaper and they can pick the dc up from school on Friday when it finishes and drop them off again Monday morning!

fiveisanawfullybignumber · 21/04/2010 21:25

Definitely YANBU.
CentreParc lovers unite!
We love it there, so much to keep the kids occupied. Can't wait to go again. Very at your whirlpool spa though.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 21/04/2010 21:30

Have been 3 times, and had a great time. Particularly good since the DSs can go down the water slides on their own.

Preferred Sherwood to Elvedon

Would advise a Woodland Lodge - newer and better decor. The last time we went we got it cheaper than a normal one

juneybean · 21/04/2010 21:31

I like CP, went a few weeks ago, going again in January and possibly again next Easter!

Love Sherwood!

Violet5 · 21/04/2010 21:49

We love CP, we have 2 disabled children and the one at Sherwood Forest is perfect for us all as a family. We go of peak and i just tell the childrens schools that we simply can't afford to go in half term. The schools don't love it but i make sure i'm not taking them out at a time thats going to be really important.
We love going in the winter and enjoy the log fires.
YANBU

BleachedWhale · 21/04/2010 21:52

Excellent! In whose miserable moany old universe would it not be reasonable to have the time of your life on your holiday? Go for it!

Sassybeast · 21/04/2010 21:56

Centre Parks rocks when tyou have small kids cos no one tuts at your tantrumming toddler!

GoldenSnitch · 21/04/2010 22:08

We always book with the returners code to get the best price. Went at 36 weeks pregnant in November and will be going again just before DD's 1st birthday in December this year. We love it there. Always been to Elevden.

nannynick · 21/04/2010 22:27

YANBU - I like it at Center Parcs.
Went to a family friendly hotel recently and hated it, could hear the evening entertainment till nearly 11pm! Don't get that noise level at Center Parcs. Or having to eat with lots of other people at breakfast time, all fighting for the fried eggs and bacon. I far prefer to self-cater.

Some people love the all-inclusive hotel type places... others like self catering in their own small villa. Some people like Center Parcs, others don't. Each to their own. It's like Marmite... some people love it, others hate it.

missmoopy · 21/04/2010 22:37

No, we LOVE centerparcs.

Rockbird · 22/04/2010 07:15

Have you got a blackboard? That was the highlight of our stay the last time! saddo

bubbles12 · 22/04/2010 08:33

Another massive CP fan here! Go every year and always have fun. Glad you are enjoying it.

charley24 · 22/04/2010 08:37

YANBU

We love CP and go once/twice a year, blissful !

The kids love it, as do we and we love spending time doing activities, BBQ's, playing in the pool, going on the walks and animal talks.

Hope you are having a fantastic time ! Wish I was there too !

twolittlemonkeys · 22/04/2010 08:38

YANBU at all. I love CP and wish I could go again soon. Not likely though as DS1 starts school in September and it's too expensive in the holidays

charley24 · 22/04/2010 08:39

Rockbird - we had hours of fun playing games on the blackboard !

We do Whinfell each time, it has become larger and not as much forest as when we first went (about 2001)as more accommodation being built.

Waking up with the rabbits and squirrels is the highlight of my DC's morning !
