To think people who send in birthday cards to Cbeebies for their DCs are barking?

Presumably you don't know what time they are going to show it so you have to watch Cbeebies the entire day.

Also, they don't promise to show every card so what a waste of time if you've sat in front of the telly the whole day and they don't show it.

And presumably little Alfie aged 1 hasn't got a f**king clue what birthdays are anyway and the entire event passes over his head.

I dunno, call me mean-spirited, it just seems a bit of waste of effort.

I wanted to send one in for Ds who will be 2 in June but hvent as you say, would be watching cbeebies all day rather than celebrating. Ds loves the birthday card bit and watches it intently

I am too disorganised to bother, but I do think it would be nice for an older child. Was disturbed other day when Andy described a couple of the girls as looking 'pretty', not because I think he's dodgy, but because it seemed such a sexist thing to do.

So Yabu.

The birthday bit shows at the same time each day, doesn't it?

If a child watches it avidly, it would be lovely for them to see a card for them show.

I can't see myself getting round to it, we dont really watch a great deal of cbeebies, but I wouldn't call them barking necessarily, its a nice gesture

Gah don't talk to me about this. I make a stupendously good one (64 Zoo Lane theme) years ago for dd1 (PFB) and they didn't even show it.

It really was bloody good too...I find the years haven't dimmed my miffedness at it not being shown

When I was a nanny, the DCs mum used to make me spend hours making birthday cards for CBeebies, invariably in my own time as there was never time to do it at work due to actually looking after the children rather than arsing about with pictures of teletubbies.

She thought it would be nice for them.

(I thought "shouldn't you bloody do it then?!?").

AND they never got shown.

I did one for DS when he 4. Didn't expect it to get shown but it did . I recorded the possible times and watched them later. He liked it too .

I think it's a bit weird when the kid is 1, but otherwise it doesn't bother me.

I made one for Ds last year- his 2nd Birthday
It was a bit crap, but they showed it (maybe for all the other parents to snigger at)

My sister does them for her DDs - and tapes the birthday card bits. So far, most of them have been shown and she has the taped bits to show them, so for her it has worked out ok.

I couldn't see the point myself either but then DS only had his 1st birthday in the UK and it really is pointless at that age, imo.

The 'Birthday Time' is on at the same time each day and repeated about twice, no?

I was going to make the kids one, but I couldn't be arsed didn't have the time.

Andy is NOT dodgy! He is lush! Sadly the DC are growing out of Cbeebies now, but I'll always find time for Andy!

They tell you on the website what times they read the birthdays out at so you can record it.

I made a card for DS and it was shown at practically the first slot.

He is 4 and he was delighted, particularly so when we show it to relatives ( it takes 1 min max) so he relives the thrill of his birthday and as someone who spent most of her childhood making creations for Take Art and never ever having them shown I must admit to a proud mummy moment when Andy pulled my artwork from the teddies lap.

I really need to get out more or develop some adult hobbies....

Meant to do it last year but dd's birthday is just after Christmas so timing is a bit rubbish. Will be doing it this year though. Will start making in September
