With 3 year old ds, a party pack of haribo (or similar) and see how quickly the fuckers get my car back to me then.

They have had it since 11 this morning, supposed to have been 45 mins.. We have been wandering round town like nomads since then and i'm getting a wee bit fucking fed up.

I would have been in their long before now!

southeastastra · 13/04/2010 15:15

me too, though i am annoying an ring every 5 minutes when my car is in the garage.

geordieminx · 13/04/2010 15:18

on the plus side, instead of costing £35 its going to be £243. happy fucking days.

OP posts:
onadietcokebreak · 13/04/2010 15:20

WTF have they done and did you agree that work?

SoupDragon · 13/04/2010 15:21

I've always wondered whether it's possible to sue Kwik Fit under the Trade Descriptions Act given they're so fucking slow.

geordieminx · 13/04/2010 15:23

was supposed to be mot. Only got car at the end of last year, only just 3 years old.

2 new tyres a steering axel or something, and a reg bulb. Yup unfortunately agreed to it, although they were supposed to ring me but didnt.

OP posts:
onadietcokebreak · 13/04/2010 15:28

((((hugs))))))

My car in for MOT repairs at mo so know how you feel.

£35 MOT
£100 tyres?
£5 bulb
?? Steering axel plus labour.

Its the axel and labour charges that have screwed you isnt it?

geordieminx · 13/04/2010 15:40

£90 odd plus fitting for the axel thing. Just rang to see if it was ready. They told me 5.15. After a rather heated exchange of words and me threatening to sue them under trade descriptions for the name kwik fit (thanks soupy) it is going to be ready for 4.15. I hope their arse holes heal up.

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 13/04/2010 15:57

LOL! I can't believe you actually threatened to sue then I've spent hours seething in their "waiting area" and never had the guts

SoupDragon · 13/04/2010 16:00

Bah! I don't believe it - I went onto Street View to find a picture of Universal Tyres near me which has an ad painted on the window - a waiting room full of cobwebbed skeletons with the caption "Are you being served Kwikly?" Unfortunately there is a gap in the data and it's not there!

oh its great cat the fact they had the car at 11, i had to ring them at 12.30 to find out what was going on, they then told me 2 hours to do the work, 2 hours after that i am still fucking sitting here. With a 2 year old. Who has been walking about for 5 hours, and has consumed his body weight in sweets and ice cream in an attempt to pacify him. Just great. Infact i'm doing bastard cartwheels.

cat has a point. If the mot throws up a bit of work I wouldn't expect to get it back after first estimate of 45 mins.

Polgara2 · 13/04/2010 16:52

It's not just that tho is it? They didn't ring when they were supposed to or do the work in the timescale they promised. So all in all you are right to be hacked off I would say.

Polgara2 · 13/04/2010 16:53

PS: Loving the idea of suing them for being called Kwik Fit btw

i think every kwikfit should hire someone to keep the customer informed. it's really something that i'm sure they could afford to do, if the cost of tyres they sell is anything to go by

geordieminx · 13/04/2010 17:17

They promised a call after 45 minutes - they were fully aware that I was wandering the street with toddler. After an hour and a half I had to ring them (12.30), they told me work would be finsihed by 2.30 - I again reminded them that I was still roaming the streets, but no, they assured me a couple of hours max. I rang at 3pm, they told me it would be another 2 hours as they had only just started it. I kicked up merry hell - and suddenly they were able to fix it by 4.15. I turned up at the garage at this time, it still took another 45 minutes.

So yes, ds did destroy their waiting room piece by piece. They were certainly pleased to see the back of us

Yes, I am grateful that I have my car back, but no, I am not at all impressed that what should have been 3 hours work ended up taking 6.

pointydog · 13/04/2010 17:18

Hardly unusual for a grage not to phone straight away.

My kwik fit's great, always has been. They'r enot all shite

southeastastra · 13/04/2010 17:18

go to local garage instead next time, ours has a fruit machine in the waiting room

Joolyjoolyjoo · 13/04/2010 17:21

I avoid kwik-fit at any cost! We had our car MOT'd today at a little local garage. It is 6 yrs old (the car, not the garage!) and I was on tenterhooks! DH dropped acr off at 8.30, got it back 9.45. The MOT was £50, and they replaced light bulbs- for nowt

That wasn't meant to make you feel worse, btw!

southeastastra · 13/04/2010 17:22

i can never understand what they do, i've taken my car there and if it's not a problem they can sort they tell me to go to another garage. so i did.

what exactly do they do, just tyres and exhausts? (oh and mots) see it's confusing.

SoupDragon · 13/04/2010 17:23

Clearly Cat works for Slow Kwik Fit.

It isn't acceptable not to phone with information.
It is not acceptable to say it'll be ready by 2:30 and then not start it until 3.
It is not acceptable to claim it will take 2 more hours and then suddenly be able to do it in 1:15.

No, not all Kwik Fits are the same. Mine is a bunch of utter shitey bastards (and it's not the same one as the OP) and the one near my parents is lovely.

geordieminx · 13/04/2010 17:24

Local garage charged £80 for dh's car MOT - they needed to untangle rear seatbelt (seats had been down previous week), and change a bulb
