??? What is this all about? Especially as it means that they cannot climb and play unless they want to look like mermaids!

I got skinny jeans for my DS as when wearing one size cloth nappies, at 9 months old, you need much bigger trousers to get them over the cloth, and if they are normal width leg they come up really wide in the leg and look silly, but skinny trousers just look normal.
I do agree with the OP that children should be able to move in their clothes, that's just common sense .

NoahAndTheWhale · 06/04/2010 13:09

I wonder if DS who is 6 and skinny should/could wear skinny jeans. Poor thing has to be waist adjustable or he has trousers that fall down.

MaisietheMorningsideCat · 06/04/2010 13:10

I hate to say it, but my 5' 10" slim, gorgeous neighbour (who I'd love to hate, but can't because she's also lovely) does look good in skinny jeans. She's one of the few people I know who can carry the look off, though. Anyone with the teeniest bit of muffin top or with short legs should steer clear.

I wear skinny jeans..I have the body to be able to! People who don't like them are normally the ones who can't get away with wearing them!

KAEKAE · 06/04/2010 13:17

TheSteelFairy2...they suit no-one? Perhaps you don't have the legs to get away with wearing them? I am thinking green eyed monster...

traceybath · 06/04/2010 13:22

I'm 5ft and a small size 6/8 - skinnies suit me and I can assure you I look ridiculous in wide leg/boyfriend/bootleg jeans as they swamp me.

And of course no-one can see the outline of my 'snatch' - its the legs that are skinny.

I've seen women with pronounced camel hoof in wide leg trousers that are too small for them.

Lordy - can't we live and let live when it comes to fashion.

MaisietheMorningsideCat · 06/04/2010 13:30

You can be small and still have propotionately long, well shaped legs. Bandy legs, chunky legs, saggy bum - unless you are truly perfectly shaped, don't bother! The worst look has to be the chunky legs, muffin top and back that isn't quite big enough to cover a generous backside, showing just a hint of crack. In cases such as these, we should definitely NOT live and let live!

Mismatched handmedowns are middle class?

livviloo · 06/04/2010 13:39

social chip on shoulder with above post about "mix" matched clothes, as evidenced by "bushism".

Apparently so, Tortoise. I wonder what happens if you team new Uggs with mix matched hand me downs?

superv1xen · 07/04/2010 10:21

I am five foot 2 but have to buy long trousers as my legs are so long - 32"

-freak emoticon-

bruffin · 07/04/2010 10:31

My DD 12yr old looks gorgeous in skinny jeans. She is 5'4 and size 6/8 and has a lovely figure, completely wasted on a 12 year old.

superv1xen · 07/04/2010 10:33

exactly - you don't have to be super tall to get away with skinny jeans - just super slim

foxyD · 07/04/2010 16:23

YANBU I have seen little girls in skinny jeans and they are are low cut on the waist giving them a builders bum which not only looks uncomfortable but obscene. Can't believe that parents would choose them when there are so many gorgeous kids clothes are loose fitting and comfortable and look good.
