??? What is this all about? Especially as it means that they cannot climb and play unless they want to look like mermaids!

LOL at the size 8 rule for skinny jeans!

kitkatsforbreakfast · 05/04/2010 19:01

Riven - M and S do plain cotton jogging bottoms. Rather boring, but cheap - a few pounds a pair. My dc use them for school.

livviloo · 05/04/2010 19:02

because they were clearly not restrictive on her due to her reduced girth.

just my opinion of course re the size 8 skinny jeans thing!

probably biased as i am a size 6 - 8 and sometimes even feel fat in mine!!

kitkatsforbreakfast · 05/04/2010 19:12

Same here Mummee09v. But, although I am size 6 - 8 I think, post children, it is a rather strangely distributed 6 - 8.

Also, dh thinks I'm having a mid-life crisis if I even wear slim fit jeans, particularly if they're fro Topshop!

damnedchilblains · 05/04/2010 19:13

snob - One who affects an offensive air of self-satisfied superiority in matters of taste or intellect.

mummee09v · 05/04/2010 19:19

lol @ "strangely distributed" kitkatsforbreakfast.

ignore your DH, wear those skinnies, - i bet you look gorgeous.

sweetkitty · 05/04/2010 19:20

My DDs prefer velour joggy bottoms and leggings to jeans as well and having worn those adjustable waist elastic things that dig into your waist I can see why.

I bought DD1 a lovely velour jogging suit from Zara the other week she adores it and says it is very comfy.

Bonsoir · 05/04/2010 19:23

Oh really get over yourself. Skinny jeans on toddlers are sweet and perfectly comfortable. DD had great ones from Gap.

livviloo · 05/04/2010 19:44

Bonsoir I wasn't bothered by the look. Sweet or not he cannot open his legs adequately to mobilise!

Tbh, I really do not care what my children wear as long as it is comfy for them..

they do have character tops, Ds has a George Pig one, and a couple others..DD has an Upsy Daisy one, she is only 10 months.. if an adult wants to walk past my children and think there clothes are horribly tacky, cheap and nasty looking, they need to take a look at themselves really. They are just childrens clothes and i dont see why they inspire such a strength of opinion really.

It all ends up covered in paint, snot or mud in the end anyway! And lasts 3 months till the next growth spurt at this age.

If it fits and is comfy, that is all I really care about.

DinahRod · 05/04/2010 21:09

DD sometimes wears what are slim fit but she is tiny and have problems finding trews for her that stay up. Just my taste, but not keen on toddlers/young children looking like teenagers.

poshsinglemum · 05/04/2010 21:15

My aunt bought dd some black skinny jeans from M and S and I was horrified.
However, they look quite cute and not at all skin tight. They look funky with a colourful top and her Clark's shoes. I wouldn't have bought them for her myself and I am sickened by the fact they do jeggins for tots. They are bad enough on adults!

poshsinglemum · 05/04/2010 21:17

I do like the hello kitty stuff that h and m does for little girls. It's very cute and better than barbie and that night garden crap.

Skinny jeans ARE ridiculous. End of.
Even Keith Moss looks like chipolata wearing them and she has by far the best body to attempt to carry these off. She fails miserably.
Now to your average stuffed bratwursts in skinny jeans and Uggs, well, they should be fined for public indecency.

TheFoosa · 06/04/2010 09:55

lol at Keith Moss

Rollmops · 06/04/2010 10:17

Ok, had a rough night, (DTs suffering from horrid cold) and still not fully awake. However, fairly sure even Keith looks every bit like chipolata as Kate does.

traceybath · 06/04/2010 10:24

I look fabulous in my skinny jeans rollmop .

Kate Moss has quite short legs in proportion to her body and always wears them with ballet flats which is quite a hard look to pull off really.

KAEKAE · 06/04/2010 12:25

My son is two years old and wears skinny jeans, they aren't ultra skinny but I can't stand those unflattering jeans some parents put their kids in. He moves around in them fine. I think parents who put their kids in mix matched hand me down clothes to come across as middle class look ridiculous!! rofl.

MaisietheMorningsideCat · 06/04/2010 12:30

What's wrong with mis matched hand me downs? Makes sense to me - they are kids who a)don't care what they wear b)get mucky c)hand me downs saves money and d)saves landfill.

teaandcakeplease · 06/04/2010 12:32

My daughter has some Asda jeggings, that are soft and stretchy and look like skinny jeans. Those are fab. Wash really well too.

I've never seen any skinny jeans for toddlers though to be honest. Most jeans have lycra in for kids don't they?

TheSteelFairy2 · 06/04/2010 12:42

Agree with Facepalm.

The thought of having to consider my children's "wardrobe" in terms of fashion is utterly exhausting. As long as they are comfy and look clean and tidy I couldn't care less.

As for skinny jeans, they suit no-one. They are a crime against clothing in that they are both unflattering and uncomfortable.

ShowOfHands · 06/04/2010 13:03

People who wear skinny jeans think they look good.

Normal folks can see the truth.

You look like a cut and stick person that my dd has artfully crafted. I don't wish to see the exact outline of your snatch thanks.
