I don't want the receipt in the bag

Message to nice shop people: please don't shove it in, muttering "receipt in the bag?" as a virtual fait accompli.

I'd like you to give it to me to put in my purse so I can clutter up my bag keep an eye on my expenditure.

When you put it straight in the bag, I have to stand there and pull it out again, making me look rather petulant and petty.

AIBU?

I don't think you'd look petty if you pulled it out and put it in your purse though.

You need between each word, not at the beginning and end of the block of words.

YABU- I DO want the receipt in the bag!! I hate it when they try to hand it to me with my change/ card, and I get all flustered trying to hold everything while getting my cards etc back into my purse! Receipt ends up in a scrumpled ball in the dark recesses of my bag, then when I take whatever it is home, only to find it doesn't fit, I have to unball about 20 receipts in the bottom of my bag to try to find the right one!

I vote for in the bag every time!

I always lose reciepts is they are not in the bag. At lease when i've changed my mind i don't have to hunt down the receipt

I hate receipts in the bag, if I got mugged the person would have the receipt and could take it back, that's my reasoning anyway

If you put the receipt in the bag & then loose the bag, the person who finds your bag can get a refund for what you bought........

I'm with Tee, I like mine handed to me so that I can put them in my purse and easily see how much I'm spending.

Oh no YA definitely NBU!!!

I hate that. The assumption that the bag is the best place for it. Just hand it to me, I say, and if I want to put it in the bag, I can (I don't want to thank you) or if I want to keep it safe, just in case, then I can put it in my purse.

I do the 'taking it out of the bag in front of them and holding up the queue' thing too.

This business of putting it in your bag for you - patronising imo. It's like they are saying you can't be trusted to carry it/look after it so we will just pop it in your bag for you and shush you out of the way.

And if you put it in the bag, the minute you take stuff out, it is lost. Gone forever to the land of the plastic bag. Grrrr.

I don't put receipts in the bag. If someone were to snatch/ steal the bag or I left the bag somewhere, then they could take it back to the shop, get a refund using the receipt and take home a nice pot of money (if I bought on a card, they could get a nice healthy credit note)! I always put it in my purse. Ok this is an unlikely scenario, but it's so easy to ut it in my purse, that I do just this.

My DP always hates receipts in the bag as he worries that if one subsequently has the bag nicked - before one gets home, I mean - the thief gets not only the item of clothing, but the receipt too. With you bank details on to boot.

There is logic in there somewhere.

I also hate receipts in the bag, they go into my handbag/purse,where although the do sink to the bottom of all the other rubbish at least they can be retrieved at some point.

Im not fussed, either way goes!

but do find it extremely odd (general)that you need a receipt to keep your finances in order!

Id see the point if you needed it for tax/returns etc as a reasonable excuse, but honestly you need a receipt to keep your finances in order

The kind of shops i go to, the assissant always asks me if i want it in the bag, before putting it in (i always say yes)
