AIBU to want Sophie Dahl as my new best friend?

OK, I know it is all contrived, pretentious telly rubbish, but I still want to be her friend.

In fact, I'll eat all 5 of her spare chocolate cherry pot things, just to show I care.

I will however unfortunately look like an oompa loompa standing next to her...

YABU to want to be friends with someone who will prostitute herself for tv.

bearcrumble · 24/03/2010 08:16

She's a simpering idiot. You can follow a recipe, surely?

Bonsoir · 24/03/2010 08:17

I haven't seen the TV programme but I am a tiny bit amoureuse. Sophie Dahl is very pretty.

elliedodger · 24/03/2010 09:47

I haven't seen the cookery show but I saw her on Jonathan Ross and she seemed lovely and so pretty. Couldn't face the cookery programme though - in the clips she looked like she was trying too hard to be Nigella, who I find unwatchable.

apsie · 24/03/2010 10:18

Ohh no YANBU, in fact I nearly posted this myself last night.
I want her lovely set kitchen and I need to be her best friend. Don't normally fall for this type of stuff either.

porcamiseria · 24/03/2010 10:37

you have lesbo crush, admit it

Bumnoise · 24/03/2010 10:38

Did anyone else see the clip of her on The One Show last night, as an 8yo? How the hell she grew up to be what she is now is beyond me...

lottiejenkins · 24/03/2010 10:45

I saw that!! She looked so cute in those humungous glasses!!

sarahjacey · 24/03/2010 10:45

Don't know what made me feel like puking more, the unhealthy heart-attack inducing food or Sophie herself, she's very into herself isn't she?

helyg · 24/03/2010 14:56

Perhaps it is a little bit of a lesbo crush...

Although having seen the footage of her as a speccy child I live in hope that when I grow up I will look like that too

It was all a bit cutesy, artsy, look at my gorgeous lifestyley. It's been done before with Nigella. Could they not have thought of a new angle. Personally, I would much prefer to see Fay Ripley do a programme. I love her book and use it loads.

GuntherMcKilocodie · 24/03/2010 15:25

Good Lord no, please have her. She is a gurning bug eyed idiot. How she ever became a model is beyond me.

PuppyMonkey · 24/03/2010 15:31

It's not her kitchen it's a stage set, fakey cakey house.

And she's got a wonky eye.

Pikelit · 24/03/2010 15:38

Her kitchen belongs to someone else, btw. It's a real kitchen (unlike Nigella's stage set "house") but is owned by a photographer who is now selling the house:

I quite like it but am amused by the amount of "distressing" that has gone on. Also, the tiles are a bit "Lavatory meets Northern Line".

Oblomov · 24/03/2010 15:39

sophie dahl. cooking programme. model. i'm so fat then i'm so thin. yeah like i have a healthy relationship with food then. who thought up this idea ????

Kneazle · 24/03/2010 16:00

I enjoyed it but why was she playing eyes right with the camera ?

101handbags · 24/03/2010 16:13

The bit with the close up of her hand massaging the mozzarella ball....Nigella did it first with the plump sausages.

MillyMollyMoo · 24/03/2010 16:15

I cannot look at a picture of her with her husband without thinking she's babysitting.

shockers · 24/03/2010 16:20

Dh loved the mozzarella massaging

Mouseface · 24/03/2010 16:24

Massaging cheese? Sex sells. Nough said.

squeaver · 24/03/2010 16:25

yabu. She's an idiot who had to take cookery lessons before she filmed it - see other thread.

squeaver · 24/03/2010 16:27

And if she has a such a voracious appetite why did Giles Coren describe her as "the only person I've ever seen taking bites out of a grape".

But she is startlingly beautiful, I'll give you that.

TheSteelFairy2 · 24/03/2010 16:32

Oh I think she is lovely.

Much better than Nigella leering at the camera every five seconds.

mrsruffallo · 24/03/2010 16:35

It was an hilarious spoof, wasn't it?
So pretentious, all those silly shots of her shopping etc

SimonCowellIsSatan · 24/03/2010 17:47

I'm insanely jealous that she's kept all that weight off she lost for so many years. I wouldn't like her as a best friend because I'd just inwardly always hate her for it, oh and I think Jamie Cullen is a little shit.

I still hope she gets fat again oneday. She's so pretty and nice too. why do people like that have to exist?
