because he has just been awarded the Military Cross?!

(awarded due to actions during his time in Afghanistan last year)

DH would do anything to change the circumstances which have led to this, but I know it means a lot to him.

happywheezer · 19/03/2010 14:50

Well done that woman's husband. Perhaps you should have a small part in his success. keeping the home fires burning and all that.
But really It's nice to have a positive story about a fab husband. well done both.

happywheezer · 19/03/2010 14:53

Hey, look what I just found.

Bars are awarded to the MC in recognition of the performance of further acts of gallantry meriting the award. Recipients are entitled to the postnominal letters MC.

Perhaps then midori you could call yourself MC Midori- I feel a name change coming on...

yes, congratulations to your DH. Sure there is probably a sad story behind him getting it but what a brave brave man he must be.
I salute him too!

midori1999 · 20/03/2010 19:37

Thankyou so much everyone. He's a bit embarrassed I posted, but also pleased our forces have so much support, as it's not always immediately obvious.

The write ups for all the medals recived are here:

www.mod.uk/DefenceInternet/DefenceNews/HistoryAndHonour/OperationalHonoursAndAwardsCitations19March2 010.htm

DH was awarded the military cross for a number of things during the whole tour, including day to day stuff and things that happened during 'incidents', although he won't tell me some of it. (maybe as he is going back next year and thinks it best I don't know)

YANBU OP. Congratulations to your DH.

Wigeon · 20/03/2010 19:49

Many congratulations to your DH - I am not a particularly pro-army type, but reading the descriptions of why people have received the Military Cross is really quite inspiring.

Very well done him. Are you going to tell us which person he is on your link?!

(I am so glad my DH is a secondary school teacher!)

Amapoleon · 20/03/2010 19:49
