i have one friend who does this all the time. ok she has problems. but to me it is like a wimpy child.or perhaps i am being a bitch.

yanbu. I have an every growing list of people who I have hidden on my news feed for just that.

In fact, I am close to only having MN-etters on my news feed as everyone else has put something needy / offensive at some point and I've hidden their updates.

poshwellies · 17/03/2010 22:53

Yes, vaguebooking is most fucking annoying,it screeches I need attention..

I ignore then hide their status.

Slartybartfast · 17/03/2010 22:53

i could hide her yes.
or i could deregister from facebook

OP posts:
poshwellies · 17/03/2010 22:55

Same goes for 'my child is soo gifted and talented' status updates.

Slartybartfast · 17/03/2010 22:56

thanks for small mercies i don't get that poshw

ToccataAndFudge · 17/03/2010 23:00

god not another of these threads.

Get over it people.

Unless you have a very tiny group of friends on FB the status update may be nothing to do with you.

Not many have the time, patience or know how, to use the padlock/friends list thing to make each individual status update relevant only to the people it's really releveant too.

YOU might not be interested in little johnny doing his first poo in the potty.........but perhaps little Johnny's Aunt who is also a friend of your friend may be........

And that pop up chat is SHITE, I use it frequently but often "lose" messages if I change my FB page or refresh it.

poshwellies · 17/03/2010 23:02

I've had a vaguebooking status update and a sodding 'oh look at my perfect child' status today and I only have 50 sodding people on my fb...

poshwellies · 17/03/2010 23:04

Toccata obviously vaguebooks or has a wonderfully gifted child

ToccataAndFudge · 17/03/2010 23:05

yes but those 50 people have their OWN friends and family on their FB as well...........

Gawd if I were to try and use the padlock so updates that are really only for family are seen by family, and those only for MNers are seen by MNers and those for off-line friends are only seen by off-line friends and so and and so forth it would do my HEAD in

So I'm afraid if you're not on my limited profile then you'll see all my status updates that aren't related to games (unless you happen to play those games)

ToccataAndFudge · 17/03/2010 23:07

well some may say I vaguebook.

But then those that know what it's about generally respond accordingly, and those that don't could just look at previous status updates and may well be able to work it out.

I have no gifted children...........2nd (of 2) parents evenings this evening this one for DS2

I had the same lecture to give both DS1 and DS2............stop dawdling in class and get your bloody work done quicker

Slartybartfast · 17/03/2010 23:08

oh,
i just want to curl up in bed and cry
boo

Grin
ToccataAndFudge · 17/03/2010 23:12

and anyhow - did you know that you can only do 420 characters in the status update.........

Most of my "vaugebook" ones.......well I just expand if someone replies - replying to a status update/thread has no character limit and quite frankly I waffle so much that I write a long thing out saying it all.

It pops up to say "You can only use 420 characters you used 652".........and as I'm totally in-ept at cutting them down I just put something vague........

poshwellies · 17/03/2010 23:12

I prefer hatebook myself

poshwellies · 17/03/2010 23:15

think the vague statues are more like..

'I can't cope with life anymore'

'well,that was amusing/shit/lifechanging'

'has had terrible news'

etc etc

And then no updates or responses to questions asked by friends.

ToccataAndFudge · 17/03/2010 23:15

I tell you when DS2's (lovely) teacher said he was often very slow with his work I nearly smacked my head on the bloody table.

Only 7 days earlier I had heard exactly the same thing from DS1's (equally lovely) teacher

I have two very similar children Tocc

Gin?

ToccataAndFudge · 17/03/2010 23:18

so it was YOU shiney - I noticed my friends number had dropped and wondered who I'd pissed off

I was 99.99% certain I hadn't been spamming games stuff at someone who didn't want it as I'd done that massive sort out last month........

ToccataAndFudge · 17/03/2010 23:19

oh god no not gin........I can't drink the stuff after my first ever experience of drinking alcohol that wasn't sitting down nicely with a meal...........think naive (petite) 15yr old downing 5 straight wine glasses full of the stuff
