So the ultimate question...

cake or death?

missmoopy · 16/03/2010 21:54

Frankie Boyle - am strangely attracted to him too!
Russell Howard, Bill Bailey, Rhod Gilbert, Eddie Izzard...
Am horrified that can't think of any names of female comedians that I like - they are several, but no idea of names!

For the record, I despise Peter Kay and his thick mate Paddy. And Billy Connolly used to be a genius before he disappeared up his own arse!

stillenacht · 16/03/2010 21:57

missmoopy - I agree with you about Mr Kay although maybe not in such strong terms

Gracie123 · 16/03/2010 21:57

Flight of the Conchords - Jermaine & Bret are two of the funniest men in comedy history.

They are touring England in may if you are lucky enough to get tickets (mostly sold out in 24 hours) they are worth every penny.

bibbitybobbityhat · 16/03/2010 21:59

Jo Brand for me.

And Vic and Bob back in the days when they were funny.

Valpollicella · 16/03/2010 21:59

missmoopy · 16/03/2010 21:59

My hubby has met Peter Kay and Paddy - he manages a venue - and Peter Kay is an arrogant knob. Shame as he was funny and humble at the start.

MegBusset · 16/03/2010 22:02

Saw Stewart Lee on Friday, was fabulous and thought his recent TV series was great too.

mintyfresh · 16/03/2010 22:04

I love comedy - keeps me going!!

I do like Michael MacIntyre though has definitely lost his earlier form through popularity. In the 'posh' vein I also like David Mitchell and Stephen Fry.

Am really a Mighty Boosh kind of gal and anything slightly surreal.

stillenacht · 16/03/2010 22:06

ooo I quite fancy Robert Webb

Remotefrog · 16/03/2010 22:08

Why so few women?

becksydee · 16/03/2010 22:08

rhod gilbert's rant about buying a duvet had me weeping with laughter.

my faves have already been mentioned i think - eddie izzard (have an izzard-inspired alias in fact ), bill bailey, stewart lee, richard herring, russell howard

also love stephen k amos - he doesn't come across that well on the tv panel shows he does, but have seen him doing stand up a few times & he's v v v funny

becksydee · 16/03/2010 22:10

ooh yes, of course - jo brand - thank you bibbity!

Gracie123 · 16/03/2010 22:10

valpollicella - it is not business time. Business time is on wednesdays, when there is nothing good on TV...

pointydog · 16/03/2010 22:11

I love sean locke. I really do.

Like jack dee.

Like jenny eclair and joan rivers. There. A couple of womne.

Gracie123 · 16/03/2010 22:13

For those who have never seen them
Flight of the Conchords

2old4thislark · 16/03/2010 22:13

Oh yes - how could I forget Stephen K amos? We saw him live in January - very funny! Though his support act made me cry laughing with his mimicry of acting drunk and doing a 'sick burp!' Was funnier than it sounds!

GetOrfMoiLand · 16/03/2010 22:14

Oh I do not find Peter Kay funny at all. To me he has a nasty, vicious side to him not at all well hidden by the self effacing northern bonhomie.

Hassled · 16/03/2010 22:14

I saw Jimmy Carr and really didn't enjoy it. The whole show was basically "I'm going to be as offensive as possible and if you don't laugh then you're a sad wanker". But then I knew that before - I shouldn't have gone.

Dara O'Briain is my current favourite, and yet I still managed to miss him when he toured. Simon Anstell was good in a slightly odd way.

stillenacht · 16/03/2010 22:15

REALLY dislike Jimmy Carr

Arrogant idiot

pointydog · 16/03/2010 22:16

don;y like peter kay, don't like jimmy carr's stand-up routine at all.

I did enjoy russell brand's stand-up on't telly.

stillenacht · 16/03/2010 22:16

God - had to admit it to myself this morning but I do like Ray Romano (Ray Barone) - quite fancy him too...arrrgh!!!

GetOrfMoiLand · 16/03/2010 22:17

I really want to watch Billy Connolly's drunken walks now.

He was so funny before he became all LA.
