Ok DP has not got best memory for bdays etc so did not expect much today and tbh not a big deal imo either.
Yesterday his Sis rang as her babysitter cancelled and they had tkts to a show in London DP'Of course we will take your 2 dc [2.5 yrs and 11 mo] for the night and don't rush back enjoy your day they are fine with us' My bil text him 9am to ask would we take their dd so he can take my sis to lunch to celebrate her first mothers day ans YES . I have 4 dc under 3 yrs to help me celebrate my first mothers day the idiot forgt I am a mother as well and this will be my one and only first mothers day He remembered when he went to shop and v nice lady asked what he was doing to make it special he is now guilt ridden and preopared to give me anything to make up for his lack of thought So thinking hats on ladies what do I want

Peace and quiet?

Buzzybb · 14/03/2010 11:51

OOPs spellings sorry rushing while babies are asleep, am off to set up the garden for finger painting and the bubble machines need to be filled can't wait to see the older two dc faces when they see they can make a mess

Buzzybb · 14/03/2010 11:53

BessieBoots that sounded good at 5.30 am. Hope you are enjoying your mothers day

MathsMadMummy · 14/03/2010 11:54

He'd better get you oodles of chocolate! And maybe he can arrange for your BIL/SIL to take your DC next time.

Just out of interest though, why are BIL and your sis going out for mother's day WITHOUT their DD? I can understand on Valentines/birthday etc but surely on mother's day you're supposed to be with your DD especially if it's your first one!!!

SugarTits · 14/03/2010 11:54

Right now I'm still in bed, so that's what I'd do. Have watched this weeks desparate housewives and now MNing. Will probably get up soon.... but then again, maybe not. Go get yourself some peace.

thumbwitch · 14/03/2010 11:54

UNbelievable that he didn't notice when both his sibs were doing something special!

Dinner at somewhere very posh and very expensive, with a new outfit, hairdo and probably accessories too might just about cover it. You might need a spa day as well to relax for it. Sound reasonable?

Buzzybb · 14/03/2010 12:02

Thumbwitch I like the idea of a spa day
SugarTits he would only feed them the choc Mathsmadmummy suggested instead of food. Yes choc is a carb has dairy and with flavoured fillings maybe even 1 of your 5 a day but that only works for adults not dc,
I did not buy myself a card or pressie so DP would not know [he can get up Xmas eve and say when is xmas day I have to go shopping]
But as he offered to make it up to me and going to take advantage Silly man an OOpps I forgot would have done with a bag of jelly tots

SugarTits · 14/03/2010 12:07

A shopping trip would be good, nice a slowly with no children to distract you. A coffee and large cake at some point. Come home with a car full of bags - how I'd love to do that. Never mind, will keep dreaming.

JoTheUnsure · 14/03/2010 12:11

Have to add that my DH has done the right thing by me this morning, he's taken our DS out for the morning (round to his mum's) and is now there watching the Grand Prix!

I can sit with my feet up watching whatever I want without having to play, entertain, spell, tidy up for a few hours! Bliss!

Buzzybb · 14/03/2010 12:16

Jo enjoy still i will actually enjoy the painting etc so not to big a deal
Sugar I will join you in dreaming plse [shoes shoes shoes]

Lemonmeringue · 14/03/2010 12:17

What a clot! Did his siblings also forget that you are a mother too?

Just remember that they all owe you big time now...

Buzzybb · 14/03/2010 12:24

Lemonmeringue tbh I have it best who wants to spend mothers day away from their dc esp when they are small and cuddly I am sitting in garden with laptop all kiddies in sleepsuits to keep nice clothes nice oldest 2 have a roll of wallpaper and paint and 3 bubble machines going so the smallies are fascinated and all are messy and happy
Your name has made me think yummy think i wil get older 2 to help make meringue during baba's naptime
But I will take advantage og idiots guilt shopping and spa day her I come might see about a couples day and ask mil to babysit]

OP posts:
Lemonmeringue · 14/03/2010 12:31

I think you're right about being with the children - mine are old enough to enjoy making a bit of a fuss (I wouldn't be bothered otherwise). Just want to make sure you've put all that babysitting in the bank.

Buzzybb · 14/03/2010 12:37

No am going to be VVPFB they do not get my dc as she likes to climb fall speed crawl fall, sit on the dog eat off the floor etc and so would be put in a travel cot/buggy for the duration also fed yucky orange food I never tell them what I feed their dc as am sure they would die We had brekkie at 6 am so DP got icecream and fruit for their snack The shock/horror/disgust we fed them sugar and they loved it all before 11 am. I do try to protect the dog and check the floor but ffs she is a child and needs to build up her immune system[dirty clothes also a no no ]

A mums cuddle pendant! I want one but they are hugely expensive so I have no hope. You deserve it though .

What about one of those keyrings etc that you can get a picture or thumb print made into silver? I would love one and have dropped many not so subtle hints but they are more than what we usually spend but for once I am fed up with counting the pennies and I would really like something that I know I will keep forever, therefore it justifies the price.

Buzzybb · 14/03/2010 12:40

That makes me sound like an awful mother want dd to have childhood we had to make mud pies play in the rain / sunshine or both depending on the weather that is why we are making bubbles painting and not mopping the floors on our hands and knees [will ss buy that]

OP posts:
Buzzybb · 14/03/2010 12:44

Coldhands just gave your suggestion to DP he has joined us and is making hand and feet prints for the dc parents am off to find a few cheapie frames I know are in the study want to bet he thinks a paint print would be better, Fingers crossed some day you get pendant and your keyring

Coldhands · 14/03/2010 12:47

Thanks Buzzy. I won't hold my breath though else I will die.

I did get the journal I asked for. Its called To Mum and you fill it in about yourself and stuff about your DC and when they are older you give it back to them to read. Can't wait to get started.

Make sure you get something nice too!

Buzzybb · 14/03/2010 13:12

What a lovely idea a memory book I never thought of that, will have to do that esp as mu Nan died and so my dd will have no memories of her only pictures and as I have just completed the family tree traced all the way back to 1687 [very proud] it will tie in nicely with that Thanks for that Coldhands

You know you will always remember you spent your first ever Mothers day surrounded by happy busy children!
I wanted Diamond earings for my first ever mothers day.. bless him If you look really closly in good light you can see there are diamonds there.. I'll treasure them forever but I couldn't tell you what we done that day?

diddl · 14/03/2010 13:52

No suggestions, but I think it´s sad that your sis & BIL have gone for lunch on Mother´s Day without their child.

Or is that just me?

Coldhands · 14/03/2010 18:26

No diddl, not just you. I wanted to do specific things today but all with my DS. That is the point isn't it, to spend quality time with your children?

No problem Buzzy. I was telling my nan about it and she thinks it sounds like a great idea. I'm glad as I want to get her one to give back to me. My DH also said he would have loved something like this from his dad who died about 11 years ago. It is a great idea.

My DH got it on Amazon btw.

StealthPolarBear · 14/03/2010 18:29
