oh and we have party at soft play also, but i am of course getting dp to take the boys to it while i stay here and read my book [smug]

Guadalupe · 13/03/2010 22:19

At least they will have everything at that time. It's annoying when you sit down and look at the menu and think yum, chicken sounds nice and they say just to let you know there's no chicken left and you say okay I'll have the fish pie just as someone shouts no more fish pie.

Though 12 is quite early for sunday lunch I concede.

mrsruffallo · 13/03/2010 22:19

I quite like that COK

God, reading feels so indulgent these days.

i like art deco myself! but these are (to me) really derivative and not pleasant
plus i have had about 8 on the trot now, they kind of pall after a while

CoupleofKooks · 13/03/2010 22:22

yes reading, alone is the ultimate luxury
it almost feels sexually charged

Georgimama · 13/03/2010 22:22

COK, God love em. My brother once bought my mum a Disney classic film video (I think Snow White) which was a hit. Every birthday and Christmas thereafter for about 10 years, she got another one.

Bless.

Surprise · 13/03/2010 22:24

DS will be up at 5.45 as usual. DP is working away, DD is staying with grandparents so I will be up and feeding cats/chickens etc at the crack of dawn. Followed by cleaning the house and preparing lunch for my mother. Not much chance of rest, never mind a lie-in. So think yourself lucky and stop whining!

mrsruffallo · 13/03/2010 22:24

Yes, exactly!

mrsruffallo · 13/03/2010 22:26

That was to COK, not disgruntled Surprise

it took her years to tell us all she hadn't seen any of his films and didn't really know or care who he was
i can't remember how it started off but there was no stopping it!
my sister always buys me pig themed presents
i once mentioned i like pigs i think
last year a floral pig doorstop

mrsruffallo · 13/03/2010 22:28

My mum bought me something Pet Shop Boy related for years and I never quite worked out why

frasersmummy · 13/03/2010 22:56

surely all kids attending parties tomorrow should be taking by dad...

leaving mum at home with girly dvd and choc

and yes you are bu .. 12 pm lunch sounds lovely

NoahAndTheWhale · 13/03/2010 23:04

I bought the ingredients so DH can cook lunch tomorrow. I know children have made me cards. Also bought a small daffodil in a pot so I can be given it. Would like relaxing day. No idea what I will get. Not even sure why I am bothered tbh.

shockers · 13/03/2010 23:51

The nicest gift that DH ever got for me was two books I had mentioned and a bottle of wine... he then told me to take the day off and read. I know me reading gets on his nerves because I completely switch off to the world. It was such a selfless gesture.

galletti · 14/03/2010 00:25

While we are talking mother's day, does anyone ever get those CD's advertised for weeks before hand, you know, Barry Manilow/Ronan Keating/Michael Buble etc etc? 'Perfect for your much loved mum on MOTHER'S DAY)I personally know where they would end up if presented with one.

SinginHinny · 14/03/2010 00:31

DD2 informed me that I could 'sleep in 'til 7am in the morning tomorrow'.

Cheers love!

I'll take your 12 lunch

neverjamtoday · 14/03/2010 01:11

Yup - I'll be up at about nine and that is a SERIOUS lie in for me as usually up much much earlier every day of the week and it is only possible because rugby is only training nearby and not a match in a far flung place. So a meal out at any time of the day sounds nice - except I do agree on the 'Mother's Day' production line thing - just like Valentines Day.. people are really ripped off.

Do think the entire thing is wildly overhyped. My DD actually went to bed really upset because she had just realised that it was Mother's Day tomorrow and she hadn't got me anything (no DH to help her out any more I am afraid) and I think that's actually quite sad. Kids should not feel pressurised. I have, in fact, given my Mum a card and a very very small gift for tomorrow (won't see her as too many kids things to do - lots on after the rugby... cinema for DD with a friend and cricket nets for DS). My Mum was really pleased but said it wasn't expected. Sometimes we have done a meal on Mothers Day etc sometimes not - we are a family who needs no excuse to eat porkily together! I love my Mum to bits every day of the year and can spoil her another day (sorry - bit smaltzy there)

Said to DD that I'll have a cuddle at about 8.30 and that will do me fine. My DS is not concerned although he has said he will clean the car tomorrow and not expect payment!

StealthPolarBear · 14/03/2010 07:07

Well I was up at 6 today, DD woke at 6.45 and gave me a mother's day smile and DS is at mum and dad's

I would love Lunch in a resataurant a t 12
I will be spending the morning cooking burgers for 80 kids down at the rugby club.

Joy of joys.

Then I will come home and cook roast dinner as DH is working.

Feeling sorry for myselof? Moi!

SixtyFootDoll · 14/03/2010 08:24

LOL at Kookies 'sparkly cards'!

kittycat37 · 14/03/2010 08:39

Mrsruffalo - I AM SO JEALOUS - my DH would NEVER even consider booking a restaurant for M's day or even making me a cup of tea. On my birthday I have to book a restaurant myself, tell him where we're going and make sure he hasn't double booked himself with work / friends. The last time he suprised me with a restaurant booking was September 2005 (I'm not joking). Enjoy your lunch - I don't feel at all.

castlesintheair · 14/03/2010 08:44

Same here kittycat37. Been up since 6am as usual. I don't think DH has ever done a 'surprise' in 15 years. Harumph, harumph

SinginHinny · 14/03/2010 10:46

CoupleofKooks Please, please, please confirm that you got another of the 'sparkly lady cards'. I think it's lovely.
