I am fuming. What about my lay in?

MaisietheMorningsideCat · 12/03/2010 23:47

What, you mean no breakfast in bed with cereal swimming in milk, lukewarm tea and cold toast with a box of Dairy Milk?

Portofino · 12/03/2010 23:49

Not for me, but if that actually materialised I would blub, big time!

mrsruffallo · 13/03/2010 09:52

Breakfast in Bed- I wonder if it's ever what it's cracked up to be. Ilove it but it's a bit awkward, mess wise

I need one of these www.mobilitysmart.cc/index.php?p=product&products_id=494&cid=44

MrsR, I say you phone the restaurant in question and ask them to deliver! Then you can not only have breakfast in bed, but lunch in bed too, on your spiffing Bed Tray thingy.

ComeOveneer · 13/03/2010 13:47

My day will consist of getting dd to church for 9am for brownies parade, taking ds along too, then taking him (with dd in tow) to a b'day party 10.30-12.30, come home, cook a 3 course late lunch/early supper for us and my parents. DH has been in LA all week and will get back on Sunday abotu 1pm, tired and jetlagged. The kids have both made me a card each which they gave me yesterday, ds also gave me a tiny pansy plant in a pot and dd gave me a wooden spoon painted brown!!!!

Smithagain · 13/03/2010 18:32

PMSL at brown-painted wooden spoon. What was that all about, then?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/03/2010 18:42

lol at lie in. Promised myself one this morning as have to get up earlyish tomorrow (7:30).

Woke up at 7:05am and that was it, I was awake despite having dozed uncomfortably for a good part of the night. 15 minutes later I was bored and thinking of the things I could usefully be doing. I seem genetically incapable of relaxing in bed.

BendyBob · 13/03/2010 18:52

Mothers Day eating out is not a good experience...in my experience.

Mums being herded in and out of pubs and restaurants in sittings. Wherever you look mums..millions of 'em.

MrsTicklemouse · 13/03/2010 18:56

At least he booked a table!! [feeling sorry for myself emoticon]

BendyBob · 13/03/2010 18:56

Like flying ant day but with mums

Buddleja · 13/03/2010 19:14

I'd like to feel empathy for you but I won't be going out or lunch at 12 or at any time.

I will however be making lunch and dinner and getting up around 6.30 because my prick husband (PD) has decided it's perfectly acceptable for him to go on the piss all day since 1 o'clock - using the rugby as an excuse.

PD won't be getting a shag for a long time.

onepieceoflollipop · 13/03/2010 19:20

Dh took dd1 (6) to M&S today. They were going to buy me some items for a delicious picnic lunch. I did tentatively say to him that she would need some guidance. I specifically said that items such as a bumper tub of mini sausages etc were not what I had in mind.

In our fridge/cupboard currently:
block of mature cheese
tub of mini sausages
bumper bag of crisps
bumper pack of blueberry muffins
"diet" chocolate mousses.

I know, it's the thought that counts!

lovechoc · 13/03/2010 19:22

at least you are going out for a meal! dh is working night shifts next 5 days so I'm getting bugger all.

shockers · 13/03/2010 19:46

We are going to the posh place where DH is crooning. We went last year, laden down with activities like mother's day word search and word bingo so that they would behave (always better kept busy my two).
I got a compliment on their manners from the waiter and was feeling very smug until I went to the loo and came back to see DH struggling to get through some swing number with a look of horror on his face. I turned to our table to see my children having a fist fight over a pencil.
Couldn't believe it when he told me he'd booked it again for this year and invited his parents too.
I love him for trying, but it's an hours drive and I'd much rather snuggle with a DVD, a duvet and the kids on the sofa after a walk in the sunshine.

LittleWhiteWolf · 13/03/2010 20:13

Well its my first mothers day and my lovely DH has booked a table for two and promised a lie in.
Trouble is today I have come down with a D&V bug and DD was sick earlier so all those plans have gone down the plug hole

Ah well, will be pampered anyway!

Bumperlicious · 13/03/2010 20:52

I expect I'll get nowt but a card, but DH is taking DD to MIL's so I get a break and that is really all I need

angel886 · 13/03/2010 21:36

My DH proudly announced to me, this morning, that he wouldn't be doing anything tomorrow as he plans on spending the day in front of the TV watching the Grand Prix. I doubt my 4 month old DD will have planned anything

skinsl · 13/03/2010 21:47

No lie-in, ever, no lunch. Please be grateful.

Georgimama · 13/03/2010 21:51

Why would you want to eat out on Mother's Day? Worse than Valentine's Day in a restuarant. It will be like a conveyer belt and the food will have been microwaved to death.

DH is cooking roast dinner for me, my mum and my aunt and uncle

mrsruffallo · 13/03/2010 22:10

Update; DH has promised to take the children out early and meet me at he restaurant at 12.
So that I get some time to myself.
He is a lovely man

mrsruffallo · 13/03/2010 22:11

Do you think so Georgiemama?
We are going to a lovely Chinese place for dim sum. Of course you are right it will be heaving, but it's not a cuisine that will suffer for it

OP posts:
Georgimama · 13/03/2010 22:16

Chinese would probably be different. I was thinking of the usual cattle crush occasion Sunday roast dinner at local gastro-pub which is usually pretty good, but has crammed in 50% more tables specifically for Mother's Day/Father's Day/Valentine's Day. No thanks.

CoupleofKooks · 13/03/2010 22:18

ds1 has bought me a card from the delightful clintons art deco range
for those lucky enough not to have seen them they look like this and are usually all covered in glitter
ds1 has the taste of a transvestite on poppers and has been buying me these cards since they came out
of course the first time he gave me one I said "oh darling how lovely" and now he is utterly convinced i adore them

i will be getting them until i die

at bedtime he whispered to me "don't worry mummy i have bought you another beautiful sparkly lady card"

mrsruffallo · 13/03/2010 22:18

I totally agree. We rarely go out on a Valentines day for that very reason
Esp avoid the local carvery at these busy times
No fun at all
