for making a quip about seeing me in there every day and beginning to think i was a member of staff and how i must have loads of spare time on my hands.

I'm not in there every day. i pop in when passing for essentials, the occasional paper or wine on my way somewhere else, usually in a tearing hurry, perhaps 4 times a week maximum.

I don't work there. the uniform wouldn't suit me.

Spare time? what's that. I work very long hours, i study, i work extras to pay the sodding bills.

Daft cow.

Completely OT but I was excited Mayorquimby because I thought I had learnt a new word, but checked OED and assertation is not a word.
Blame being stuck on DS's bed while he drifts off for slightly obsessive word-related post...

rightly or wrongly this thread has cheered me up . The ladies in our waitrose are v. nice - it is the oaps you have to look out for!

Clearly she wasn't being her nicest at the time, but she really copped it.

Oh dear, just realsing that I suggested she should have wanted to slap someone on the other thread. Thus ends my MN career....

Bloke in sainsburys next to work said something along thoselines to me

Unfortunatly I realised that i often go in 3x a dat...so may aswell work there

but YABU! much prefer that to nothing or stilled "do you need help packing"
