To wonder if people would care so much about Cheryl Cole if she was ugly?

What Ashley Cole has done is rubbish and he is a rat, but it bothers me how many people are saying 'But she is so pretty, why would he do that?' 'It's so terrible for her.'

I have seen numerous groups on facebook, like 'Ashley Cole why would you do that? Your wife is HOT' and 'Ashley Cole is a t**t for cheating on the woman every other man wants!'

The thing what bugs me is why everybody cares so much? The same thing has happened with Tess Daly (who I think is much prettier personally) and Vernon Kay and for me that's more shocking as they have a newborn. But she is not getting all these 'sympathetic' comments.

Nobody actually knows anything about Cheryl Cole, other than she's pretty and she sings. For all we know, she could be a complete cow who was horrible to Ashley, (lets not forget the nightclub assistant incident). I don't think he would be justified in either way to humiliate her like that, but it seems strange that everyone is so shocked because she is pretty? If she was ugly, would anyone care or just think 'I don't blame him.'

It's offensive in my opinion.

I don't care. I don't care if she's pretty, thin, petty or ugly absolutely humongous. I don't care what a stupid footballer has done. It's not news.

Well, she is all gushy on X-Factor... she seems to have an image of being a sweet "girl's girl", all supportive of her contestants yet not afraid to talk back to the big bad Cowell etc.... I don't know whether she is really like that or what happens behind closed doors, but I can see why she is popular apart from her looks. It's not as if Ashley is much of a looker anyway (at least imo... do many disagree?) so I can understand the "why would he cheat on her comments" - i guess the thinking behind it is he was lucky to have snagged Cheryl in the first place.

I suppose people are incredulous. He manages to pull an alpha female - hot, rich, famous, 'nation's sweetheart' type - and he still isn't happy.

She isn't exactly an oil painting though is she? Skinny, cries a lot and has made a heck of a lot of money out of very little talent.

I don't care about or feel sorry for her, but then I don't read all the trashy papers and mags that seem to think we should! Sorry to be harsh, but this kind of hyperbole is only whippped up by the media if people buy into it!

I suppose if all and sundry start climbing out of the woodwork to say they shagged Vernon as they did with Ashley/John Terry/Tiger Woods then Tess would gets lots of sympathy too.

I make my tutor group watch the news once a week, and today I showed them the 6 o'clock bulletin from last night. None of them anticipated any of the first three stories (car bomb, proposed changes to schools promised by tories, awful case of man being tortured and killed). They were all agog about Cheryl Cole. I asked them why, and the girls said it was because "she's lovely". I said "but is it news?". They were adamant it was .

I don't think 'people' are as in love with Cheryl Cole as you think. I certainly couldn't give a rat's chuff and I don't know many people that do.

she has a PR agency who manages her image herbieta. It would be very easy for her to slip quietly away but no lets tell the paps when she'll get on a plane, issue statement via agent etc. its the same with the beckhams - oh poor me being photographed after my agent told the photographers where i'd be.

I kind of agree with the OP. I think CC is as hard as nails personally and I doubt very much that the toilet attendant she assaulted and racially abused would describe her as "lovely"!

But then I fancy Ashley Cole so I'm biased.

i think the point the OP was making was that people seem to be condemning Ashley Cole's behaviour on the basis of how pretty his wife is perceived to be.

The implication is that he would be more justified and less of a bastard if he was cheating on Michelle McManus rather than Cheryl Cole. I find that disgusting.

The fact is cheating is rarely about the person being cheated on and ALL about the cheater. They exist in a world of entitlement and selfishness. Nothing the betrayed partner does, doesn't do or looks or doesn't look like makes a blind bit of difference. No one deserves to be betrayed by the one person who is supposed to be their soft place to fall.

Whether she is a size 6 pop singer or a size 30 house wife with a body odour problem, the betrayal cuts just as deep and the crime just as serious.

I can honestly say that I would not care less about Cheryl Cole if she was ugly. It really isn't physically possible for me to care less.

I don´t care & tbh I think CC is well, maybe not ugly, but certainly not attractive-just false looking.
