To wonder if people would care so much about Cheryl Cole if she was ugly?

What Ashley Cole has done is rubbish and he is a rat, but it bothers me how many people are saying 'But she is so pretty, why would he do that?' 'It's so terrible for her.'

I have seen numerous groups on facebook, like 'Ashley Cole why would you do that? Your wife is HOT' and 'Ashley Cole is a t**t for cheating on the woman every other man wants!'

The thing what bugs me is why everybody cares so much? The same thing has happened with Tess Daly (who I think is much prettier personally) and Vernon Kay and for me that's more shocking as they have a newborn. But she is not getting all these 'sympathetic' comments.

Nobody actually knows anything about Cheryl Cole, other than she's pretty and she sings. For all we know, she could be a complete cow who was horrible to Ashley, (lets not forget the nightclub assistant incident). I don't think he would be justified in either way to humiliate her like that, but it seems strange that everyone is so shocked because she is pretty? If she was ugly, would anyone care or just think 'I don't blame him.'

It's offensive in my opinion.

I don't like her "chick with a dick" comment about Lily Allen. That revealed her shallowness IMO.

People do seem to assume that a pretty face = a nice person.

Not true at all. Some of the most beautiful people around are the biggest bitches and bastards. I think that in some cases, being very good looking turns you into a twat. You start to think you're better than other people. You live off your looks. People are nicer to you, you don't have to bother being a nice person because there are enough shallow people out there who will go after you based on your face.

It's only later, when they are stuck with you and you've proven yourself to be a hollow-headed sack of shit, that they walk away.

Well, to be fair, she was cleared of the racial assault part of the charges.

Not defending the assault at all but it's not true that she was convicted of racial abuse.

Personally I find it hard to believe they went to all that trouble for a "business arrangement" fake marriage... if Ashley is gay then why has he cheated on his wife with all these women?

Just seems an awful lot of trouble to go to. I guess I usually think the simplest explanation is the most likely. Two people got married in a rush, all the pressures and weirdness of a celebrity lifestyle, lots of time apart, one or both of them a bit of a knob, infidelity, divorce. Just out of curiosity where do the Ashley 'gay' rumours come from?

I don't particularly care about either of them tbh, but I do think that people are too quick to jump to conclusions about the marriages of celebrities purely because they're celebrities. Would anyone say these sorts of things about normal people in rl? I think not.

I think it's all too easy to think of celebs as non human beings with non human emotions and reactions.
