Am I being unreasonable for getting upset that my husband keeps looking at porn?

OP posts:
Pebbles71 · 01/03/2010 10:01

she says she a child of a published feminist......well fancy that eh!!!! nothing she says anymore shocks me..think shes in lala land and has read to many fairytails...Iv come across liars in my time and people who say things and actually belive they are true but OMG she comes out with such utter shit !!!!!!

expatinscotland · 01/03/2010 10:06

'He was a very intelligent upper middle class boy, with a good degree from a RG uni and a successful career in international yacht racing. This is the impact that porn has on many boys, he wasn't/isn't extraordinary in any sense. I also have many male 'friends' from that circle who hold similar views. It disturbs me a little.'

This. All these posters vociferously defending porn do so from the viewpoint that it's only women who don't like it, find it offensive. That men would or do look it no matter what.

What does that say about how they view both men and women?

It affects everyone, male and female. It exploits all of them. It objectifies women and relegates men to the role of beings who are little more than instinct, it doesn't show either one of them any respect.

As a mother of both a boy and girls, I find that disgusting.

It demotes all people to the role of beasts, and that's what's wrong with the proliferation of this crap.

Pebbles71 · 01/03/2010 10:23

Im thinking we have a wind up on here the more I raed her posts cause some of these things she says just seem so NOT true and out of her imaginary head...all seems a lil far fetched to me and the bit about being bought up by a published feminist...well fancy that eh!!!!!!

Pebbles71 · 01/03/2010 10:24

Pebbles71 · 01/03/2010 10:27

Now Im posting so quick that my little fingers are typing quicker than my brain is telling them to so my spelling is awful when I read it back...OH bum

AnyFucker · 01/03/2010 11:44

in the olden days, before hard core anal, double penetration, jizzing, gangbanging, hurting people and all that crap was so readily available to teenagers...

the average teenager got a glance at his dads boob and fanny mags, the awkward convo about the birds and bees, passed a few dirty pics around at school, had a titter, maybe felt a few girls up behind the bike shed etc etc

then he started to date girls...and learned together with them what sex in relationships was all about

fastforward to what is happening more and more today

without any of that more "gentle" buildup...these boys (and girls) are rocketed straight in to the more extreme stuff

the kind of stuff that maybe you don't try until you are in your 20's, 30's, even 40's ...or never want to try at all

but those are informed decisions, made with a partner (hopefully) you can trust, made with maturity and experience

those kinds of practices...bumsex, BDSM etc etc are something you should build up to....not an expectation immediately at the ages of 15/16

it is very sad....and very, very scary

AnyFucker · 01/03/2010 11:45

and that is why the pornifying of our society is so fucking damaging

amen

I met DH when he was 23 and I was 31. But he hadn't watched a lot of porn because he found it a turn off.

But to every woman who says it's harmless fun, would you be happy for your daughter or your son to be in one of these gonzo films?

'Still confused why you chose the name you did when your opinions are so sensible. Please explain. I did ask you in another thread, but am still waiting.'

Try using the search function of this board. Because that question has been answered ad nauseum.

It's because of a time on the board when people were threatening to name change en masse and I said, 'Oh, shit, now I'm not going to know any fucker!'

So in addition to growing a pair as Kerry suggests I'll add in grow a sense of humour, too.

expatinscotland · 01/03/2010 12:04

FWIW, too, it's a huge board. People don't owe individuals explainations.

MrsPixie · 01/03/2010 12:12

has the op actually come back since her first post?

AnyFucker · 01/03/2010 12:32

aww, Lucy, I will take pity on you

gotta larf that my reply is the fluffy one, when Lucy is a bit put off by my name

it is Expat's fault, she had been doing some daft real-life shenagigans, came back after a while and said she didn't know "any fucker"

so I namechanged, said "well you know me...ta-daaaaaa"

and it stuck...for better or worse. Not everyone likes it...but most are able to see that I am, in fact, the very best poster on MN

expatinscotland · 01/03/2010 12:34

AnyFuckerforaMincePie rules the school!

Malificence · 01/03/2010 12:37

Kerry are you serious?

How do you think young people learn about having sex?

If they're lucky they get together with a partner of a similar age and sexual experience ( which in our case was 17 year old virgins) and learn together about what feels good and satisfies both parties.
I allowed my dd to have her first serious boyfriend sleep over at 16 and they were together for nearly 3 years, I've always been open about sex with her and she's grown up with a healthy sexual attitude.

If they're unlucky, they are coerced into it too soon/too young , or worse.

MillyR · 01/03/2010 12:41

I like the name 'AnyFucker;' it has always suggested humility to me.
