Gosh no, I used to do that all the time when I was single and childless. Its great, no one to bug you!

MummikinsOopNorth · 21/02/2010 09:42

Thanks Tee, does no one stare at you or wonder why you're all alone?

I did it a few times pre-children. If I noticed that somebody was sitting on their own I'd just think (if I thought at all) that they were a confident person.

BendyBob · 21/02/2010 09:47

Do it! It's lovely. I've done it and wouldn't hesitate to go again.

You really won't stand out as billy no mates not, one bit. It's dark and everyone is watching the film. Then they all get up and leave.

So lovely to escape for some peace for a bit

ChairmumMiaow · 21/02/2010 09:50

definitely go, H and I used to go together but to different films pre-DS. I envy you. I think I need to do that next week sometimes.

norksinmywaistband · 21/02/2010 09:51

I prefer to go alone, it seems like a waste of time if you have time with a friend and you just sit staring at a screen , not talking.

Noone will think your a loon

Enjoy

It's nice to 'go to' someting if you get some precious spare time. Stops you from using the time to catch up with never ending chores and jobs. You really feel like you've had a break.

Ooh you've made me want to go now.

herladyshiplovesedward · 21/02/2010 09:53

if i am really into a film and that none of my friends or family like (think x-files ) i go alone rather that have them sat beside me tutting and looking at their watches!

Tee2072 · 21/02/2010 09:54

If they did, Mummikins, I certainly never noticed. Who cares what people think? Go and have fun!

ooh enjoy!!! The brekkie part too .

dh and i have hardly been to the flicks together at all in the last few years. but he goes alone a lot and when i get a chance i do!!!! I love it. And making a day of it like you are makes it super special!

macdoodle · 21/02/2010 10:00

Gosh go, I do it all the time, never really thought about what anyone thought, who cares you dont know them
I've always done it, I'm a cinema junkie, started when I was a junior doc used to go in the morning after a night shift!
Now I go when XH has the DD's, I fancy Precious today but have to wait in for the gas man to find my leak, and only showing isnt till 3:30 and my girls home at 4!
So very jealous, off you go right now

pointysayhiphip · 21/02/2010 10:03

Other people won't give you a second thought. A few will envy you .

It's fine to go by yourself, as long as you are comfortable with it. You are the only person who can make it unenjoyable.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 21/02/2010 14:46

I'd go. DH really likes cinema and films in general. I am not so fussed. I took myself to see Bruno, brilliant film but not so good on your own. There was nobody to go blargh to.

compo · 21/02/2010 14:48

I went yesterday
there was me, one guy in his twenties on his own, two giggling teens, one dad and his daughter and one mum and her daughter
I'm surprised cinemas make any profit these days, no wonder it costs so much

BrahmsThirdRacket · 21/02/2010 14:50

No, going to the cinema alone is great, especially when it's during the day and nearly empty. I do it when feeling stressed. I don't think people look at me strangely, not bothered if they do. I am the sort of person who needs alone-time.

LaurieFairyCake · 21/02/2010 14:50

I go all the time.

I also have 2 scoops of Ben and Jerry's all to myself

macdoodle · 21/02/2010 14:50

Me too Brahms

Mumcentreplus · 21/02/2010 14:55

No definately not!...I really want to do this!..my DH has and he says its brill very relaxing..I with Brahms too.. I like alone time

perhaps we could meet up and... that kind of defeats the point

smokinaces · 21/02/2010 14:55

I go on my own - on Saturday nights or Sunday days when the boys are with the ex and I have no plans. I love it - when indoors I dont sit and watch films, I'm always cooking/on the internet/washing/breaking up fights when they're on (and in this house they are mostly Us) so its a rare 3 hours to myself to sit and get engrossed.

Hope you enjoyed it!

carocaro · 21/02/2010 15:06

I go too on my own I prefer it that way, I get nice sweets from M&S. I love it.

I had not done it for ages, but will soon. I have to do it when DS2 is at pre-school 9 - 3, so options limted.

When Sex and the City came out, I waited three weeks till quiet Monday and went, three of us, I had a mini bottle of pink fizz in my handbag and had a lovley time.

Am now thinking Up In The Air, Trafford Centre with Starbucks Muffin and Flat White beforehand - BLISS.

Oooh have you been what did you see did you have fun?

MummikinsOopNorth · 21/02/2010 17:39

I went and had a great time!

The auditorium was empty. Apart from me there was a man and his girlfriend/wife and a group of about 6 adults came in. No one batted an eyelid that I was alone.

Planning to do it again sometime
