To be annoyed at my dh giving ds3.4 chocolate spread sandwich?

My point of view: sandwiches are usually for lunch. Lunch should be nutritious. Chocolate and sweets are for treats a few times a week. I don't want to encourage son to eat sweet sandwich fillings as may put him off ham, cheese etc. He is quite a fussy eater as it is.

His pov - not asked as I am biting my tongue. Should I mention it or just leave it be?

Anger now subsiding having vented a little on here... thank goodness for mn rants that may cause volcanoes to erupt in rl!

eggontoast...........are you fairly new on mumsnet? Or have you just not been on very many AIBU/long threads?

as that is absolutely normal for threads on here for the whole thing to keep being regurgitated

eggontoast · 19/02/2010 23:39

I am not really stressed about it, it is so hard to convey my real personality on here. I communicate a lot with sarcasm and between the lines in real life that people get.

A lot don't get it on here, and I dont blame them, because it is all about my facial expressions, laughs at self etc.

It is frustrating because I am trying to be myself, but I cannot type myself.

I just like having a laugh and discussing crap that just pops into my head, but I am also very polite and don't want to leave questions unanswered. And I dont want to answer the same questions again.

I have quite enjoyed it really though. I find it very amusing and interesting to see others points of view, ESPECIALLY if they are different from my own. Gives great and needed perspective.

BUT I WANT TO GO TO BED DAMN IT (cannot spell the swear word for goodness sake!)

No more questions for OP please. Going to bed. All answers already in thread. I am not being rude. Very tired. Please, feel absolutely free to point out how unreasonable I am, but, please, do not think me rude or unreasonable to leave thread now and not answer any more questions. Thanks.

Toccata - about 4 years I have been using mn on and off. More at present as on maternity leave. Good night all. Bedbows calls me.

If chocolate spread offends you that much, why not just bin it?

Surely it can only be put in a sandwich or on toast, so your dc will come into contact with it somehow, so just get rid of it.

I'm with Belgo on this. DS is almost food phobic and I've now realised that making issues out of what he doesn't eat makes him worse and actually by letting him have Nutella s/w for brekkie for months on end didn't mean that he now only eats that. Now, he chooses weetabix, porridge or another cereal like cocopops or he has a croissant. Occasionally I will put nutella in his s/w on a Friday at school as a treat but he normally has jam (worse than Nutella I'm sure) or ham.
My french friend always takes out bags of chocolate brioches in her bag in case the kids get peckish and both her and her kids are well skinny.

electra · 20/02/2010 00:35

YABU imo - don't mention it, honestly he will grow up and it will be beyond your control what he eats and believe me, he will discover that you can eat unhealthy stuff in place of a healthy meal. Chocolate spread is really not that bad anyway...

Slartybartfast · 20/02/2010 00:53

s'ok op, we will can disucss it amongst ourselves

belgo · 20/02/2010 07:47

nighbynight · 20/02/2010 08:35

your dh should have added mashed banana to make it healthier!

Romanarama · 20/02/2010 10:24
