AIBU to expect grown women to clean up after themselves?!

Ok, first post so be gentle!!!

Am I being completely unreasonable in wanting my fellow females to clear up wee-drips on the toilet seats?! I don't even understand how they can do that (unless they are squatting) - and even then they should clean up after themselves! And don't get me started on skidmarks ....... yes, in the ladies.....

I work for a blue chip company, yet we seem to only employ woman who cannot even do the basics with regards to toilet hygiene.

sometimes its splashes from when the loo flushes,,,, just sayin like

monkeybum1 · 17/02/2010 15:19

Not to be gross, but we have white toilet seats and it's quite clearly not toilet water.....

Rhian82 · 17/02/2010 15:20

Yeah, our work ones are really bad for the flush splashing everywhere.

scaryhairycat · 17/02/2010 15:31

YANBU - I always have to wipe around the toilet seat on a public loo before I sit down - just don't understand how they do it! Bloody annoys me when men do it, but women??

OtterInaSkoda · 17/02/2010 15:34

The thing with cleaning skidmarks off a public/work loo is that then you leave a shitty toilet brush. I'm not sure which is worse.

But YANBU.

KimiGaveUpStarbucks4Lent · 17/02/2010 15:43

I hate public toilets, some women are clearly just filthy

CheeeseOnToast · 17/02/2010 15:45

I went in one today and it had a dark blue seat with what looked like a 'normal' puddle on it. I wiped it off before I prepared to 'do my business' and it was blood.

What is wrong with people?

solo · 17/02/2010 15:45

Even if the toilet showers the seat, I wipe it before I leave in case anyone thinks I'm a dirty cow.

ThePFJ · 17/02/2010 15:47

Thats disgusting! I would really really think that grown women would clean up after themselves... especially in the WORK toilet. I would be so embarassed if someone went into the cubicle I had just left and started gagging while I was washing my hands!!! What if it was my boss for crying out loud??!

You are not being unreasonable!

xxx

solo · 17/02/2010 15:47

Cheese!!!!!! that's disgusting! how can anyone doooooo that?! my SIL has on occasion left a bloody drip on my loo seat. Blooming well look behind you before you leave!!! how hard can it be?

monkeybum1 · 17/02/2010 15:50

Thank you! I was sure this was not normal behaviour - even if it was I would be quite happy to be abnormal in this respect!!!

I hate it when I go to the cubicles and every single one has either a drip, a pube or skidmarks...it's a daily occurance. Seriously thinking of giving those Kim and Aggie types a call, getting them to do a seminar on personal hygeiene.....

OP posts:
monkeybum1 · 17/02/2010 15:50

at the blood - can't say I've ever come across that (thank god!!!)

I work for a blue chip company too and by the afternoon there is often a smelly puddle of pee by the side of the loo, so whoever is squatting has a seriously bad aim! And this is in a cubicle where they have a supply of paper toilet seat covers that you just pull out of the box, fit over the seat and then throw away afterwards. crazy stuff.

Worse though, is they did a hygiene study and swabbed loads of surfaces and the ones that came back with the most traces of feacal matter (spelling bad I know)... was the lift buttons!!

solo · 17/02/2010 16:05

@ lift buttons! I'm being shocked by cheeses today it seems!

GetOrfMoiLand · 17/02/2010 16:05

I too work at a blue chip company and we get the skanky drippers here too.

Actually, we have a sign (laminated, no less) in each cubicle which says:

Please wipe the seat TOP AND BOTTOM before you leave the cubicle.

Top and bottom are underlined three times.

It makes me wonder what some heinous skank did in those loos which required the TOP AND BOTTOM of the seat to be cleaned on exit.

Think I started a thread about it last year when I started working here.

MitchyInge · 17/02/2010 16:10

was afraid this thread was started by my cleaner

They're clearly not in the WI. I'm reliably informed that if you host a WI event, your kitchen will be left cleaner than it was before the event. I too am constantly amazed at how disgusting people (women really, I have no real experience of the alternative) feel able to leave public loos. Men are worse though I think- most don't even clean home loos.

GetDownYouWillFall · 17/02/2010 16:31

This really makes me angry too. I work for the library service and our staff loos (i.e. not the public ones) are gross.
I have gone into cubicles will poo still down the loo (do people just not bother flushing?)
And quite regularly there are pubes on the seat.

Alicetheinvisible · 17/02/2010 16:38

I think it is from the people who squat.

I really hate it when people don't put the lid down before flushing in my house. All the spray/germs/tiny bits of poo etc are then covering the whole of my bathroom - thanks.

My friend is particularly bad about this and i can't understand why, seeing as the lid is always down when she goes in there.

notquitenormal · 17/02/2010 16:52

Once, when I was working in an office building where several companies shared the loos, I went in to find that someone had completely missed the toilet and had left a very large, but perfectly neat turd on the back of the toilet seat.

I was .

I once found a USED sanitary towel in the sink of the disabled toilet at work

Smelt it first...the sink is about 6 inches from the toilet. looked down and there it was [BOAK] and
