AIBU to expect grown women to clean up after themselves?!

Ok, first post so be gentle!!!

Am I being completely unreasonable in wanting my fellow females to clear up wee-drips on the toilet seats?! I don't even understand how they can do that (unless they are squatting) - and even then they should clean up after themselves! And don't get me started on skidmarks ....... yes, in the ladies.....

I work for a blue chip company, yet we seem to only employ woman who cannot even do the basics with regards to toilet hygiene.

my friend had an email sent round complaining about this sort of stuff AND evidence of 'self relief'

OtterInaSkoda · 17/02/2010 17:42

Smelt it, Wilkos?

parakeet · 17/02/2010 23:08

Well this is my worst ever toilet experience.

In a public toilet once, I had done a poo only to discover to my horror there was no loo roll left and I had no tissues in my pockets. I spied a piece of tissue on the floor that looked innocent enough. The floor was fairly nice and shiny and clean, so in desperation, I picked it up, only to discover......

....there was already some poo on the tissue.

(And it was now on my fingers.)

SummerLightning · 17/02/2010 23:17

I went to the toilet once in a pub, only to see an entire poo sitting on the toilet seat.

I am ashamed to admit I was young and slightly tipsy and thought it was amusing as well as disgusting so took a photo of it with my phone so that my friends would believe me

solo · 18/02/2010 00:11

And they didn't accuse you of staging it SummerLightning? I would've!!!

Tortington · 18/02/2010 00:15

re your thread title.

the signs posted in the toilets at all the places where i work tell me there are some scruffy cnuts about

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 18/02/2010 00:18

Whoever mentioned squatting: I think that's the crux of the problem - some laydeez think they're too delicate and sensitive to actually sit on a loo seat, so hover above it, but aren't so refayned as to check they haven't left any deposits behind.

Tortington · 18/02/2010 00:22

too true.

its a bog seat you wont die cos someone elses bum has sat on it

however i might kill you if i have to wipe up your piss

Casmama · 18/02/2010 00:29

I agree with Our Lady. At a swimming class I was going into the toilet after one of my classmates who announced that she always hovers as she doesn't like using public toilets. I enter to find that she has peed all over the seat and not wiped after herself. If it wasn't for these filthy hoverers it would be perfectly safe to sit on the toilet seat.
You wonder what these peoples toilets are like at home!
Rant over.

solo · 18/02/2010 00:30

I used to squat though and if I ever missed, I'd clean up. It's not difficult(unless there's no paper). I can't do it anymore, but always wipe the seat before I do sit down.
I don't think it's that other peoples bums sit on it, I think it's more to do with what may have been deposited on the seat and left there albeit invisible to the naked eye. I used to do it because I seemed prone to getting thread worm as a child despite good hygeine, so Mum always told me to squat.

MortaIWombat · 18/02/2010 00:45

And hepatitis A, E, and F, all faecally transmitted.
I hover - and wipe the seat if necessary, but I have very good aim.

jasper · 18/02/2010 00:53

FOR GOODNESS SAKE you are all reinforcing the myth that this is a WOMENS' issue.

Only 13 % of women splash the seat , while almost a third of men do.

This sort of discussion obfuscates the real problem which is male splashers.

You are all contributing to the breakdown of society in concentrating on womens' alleged defects while all around us men are splashing and raping . That's the REAL issue

JustAnotherManicMummy · 18/02/2010 01:07

jasper are you a squatter/hoverer by any chance?

jasper · 18/02/2010 01:12
Grin
Tortington · 18/02/2010 01:12

faecally transmitted if you happen to sit on a seat - with shit on it - then lick your fingers.

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 18/02/2010 01:13

I feel sick now.

I hate seeing dribble on the seat, it's not hard to check though. I even wipe it for the next woman if the flushing has left water spray on the seat (it's so they don't think I've pissed on it really)

CheerfulYank · 18/02/2010 01:17

Welcome monkey.

I have nothing to add but...ew, ew, EW.

solo · 18/02/2010 01:21

And that's another thing!!! people using the loo and leaving without washing their hands!!!!!! euwwwwwwwww!!!!!

echt · 18/02/2010 04:23

One for the ladies who squat - the posture is very bad for the pelvic floor muscles.

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 18/02/2010 10:30

'....the real problem which is male splashers' - but not in a women's workplace loo!

It's other women who are leaving splashes and God knows what else for the rest of us.

MaMight · 18/02/2010 10:41

Oh God. This thread is bringing back terrible memories.

I was pregnant and suffering from dreadful morning sickness. I was rushing to the office loo to throw up about 10 times a day.
There were only 2 cubicles on our floor, and I shared them with a lady who suffered from Crohn's Disease. Poor lady. But OH how I wish she was more dilligent in cleaning the loo. I used to spend my days feeling utterly miserable and chundering into a loo that was ALWAYS covered in skids. Lots of them. And if I braved cleaning the loo , she would have skidded it again by next time I raced in to stick my head down the pan.

MrsChemist · 18/02/2010 10:56

I bet those 13% of female splashers are also mostly hoverers

solo · 18/02/2010 13:18

Where on earth is the pride in these people? I bet they all look immaculate too!

CheeeseOnToast · 18/02/2010 16:03

(but it's really a sick-looking face)

CheeeseOnToast · 18/02/2010 16:04

I of course meant

whoops
